The page numbers are in approximately sequential order, but where a subskill is practiced at several points in one Unit these pages are usually grouped. The content of each Unit of Academic Connections has been designed so that learners will develop their language across the four skills, and the integrated task (Speaking or Writing) that concludes each Unit builds on and synthesizes information and skills from the entire Unit. Extracting individual activities or sub-sections in isolation is therefore not recommended, as the input material will often be located earlier in the Unit. A full description of the Academic Connections course books is available at the publisher’s website: www.longmanhomeusa.com Academic Connections Level 1 can be purchased at: www.amazon.com Each level of Academic Connections is supported and extended online, using the Access Code supplied with the book and the Course Code provided to learners by you, the teacher. Learners and teachers register and login at www.MyAcademicConnectionsLab. com. Each Unit has an online Checkpoint at regular intervals, extra practice activities, quizzes, and homework. You can login to the Instructor section of the site and assign materials to the course schedule that reinforce the subskills taught. Students login and complete the activities according to the schedule. Learners may also use MyAcademicConnectionsLab for self-study.

Overview of PTE Academic PTE Academic is a computer-based test of academic English, designed to provide information about the English language level of test takers who wish to study or work in an English-speaking environment. It takes approximately three hours to complete, and is administered in a single session. Test takers respond to between 70 and 91 individual tasks, across 20 different item types, in the four communicative skills of speaking, writing, reading and listening. Test takers register for a test and can view their results online. However, they must go to a test center to sit the test, under secure conditions. PTE Academic uses automated scoring, providing greater reliability. Scores are usually available within five days, and test takers indicate the programs that they wish their results to be sent to, after which the recognizing institutions securely download the PTE Academic scores. PTE Academic has three parts, with an introduction and optional break:
