Prusik Used to form a friction wrap on a rope or pole. If you push the knot itself it will move, but it will hold still if you pull the ropes coming from it. Make a larks head over a pole, rope or other object by putting the middle bight of the rope over the object and pulling the ends through.
Loop the bight back over the object (pull the bight up around the back of the object, and bring over the front), then bring the working ends through.
Repeat the step above, looping the bight back over the object, then pulling the ends towards you through the loop.
No movement of the knot
Pulling the ends of the rope won't move the prusik along the pole. Pushing the knot itself will slide it along the pole
