1.0 Title Proposal For Annual Company Trip to Langkawi Island or Cameron Highland.
2.0 Introduction During my company Takaful Malaysia Berhad staff club meeting, the company executive has decided to have an annual company trip. It is a bonus for all the staffs because of the company profit last year. They want the trip to be held either in Langkawi Island or Cameron Highland in November this year. As a vise chairman of staff club, I have been assigned to write a proposal that include all the information on both places. It is important because my company executive will read and then decided where to go for our annual trip. I need to compare between this two places by considering the expenses related to travel, hotel, meals, and activities for adults and children. As a result from the staff club meeting, our club members decided to have that trip on 27 until 29 of November 2009. There will be 30 adult and 10 children’s age 7-12 years old and 10 infant’s age 1-2 years old participate in this trip. Before i started to write this proposal, I went to Tourism Malaysia head office in Seremban town. There, I had a lot of information about Langkawi Island and Cameron Highland. I take several brochures, maps and pictures related to both places as a guideline for my proposal. Either than that, i am also surfing the internet to get more information, activities or packages that they have offer there. My colleagues also give their opinion and information regarding on the two locations that we are going to go by the end of this year.

Based on the information above, if we choose go to Langkawi Island we will go on 27 November 2009 to 29 November 2009. It is will be 3 Day and 2 nights trip. It is easier to go to Langkawi Island if we charted a bus. From Seremban we need to travel by bus to Kuala Perlis Jetty. Kuala Perlis is about 30.5 kilometers from Langkawi Island. It is one of the ways to go to Langkawi Island. There are a lot of hotels in Langkawi Island such as Nadias Inn Comfort, Langkapuri Inn, Langgura Baron Resort, Desa Motel Resort and White Lodge Hotel. After I compare between a lots of hotels for the accommodation, I choose White Lodge Hotel. The hotel is situated near Pantai Cenang. It is because the hotel has enough room for all the staff. It also has a lot of facilities such as gift shop, cyber café, 24 hours room service, baggage storage area, laundry service and so much more. For the activities, I choose from packages that White Lodge Hotel provided. All the activities is suitable for adults and children. For the first day, we will go to Underwater World. Underwater World Langkawi is one of the largest marine and fresh water aquaria in South East Asia. Other attractions include the Freshwater Fish Section, the Seashell Display, the Koi Pond, the Mini Reptilian and Invertebrate Section, the Coral Reef Section, Tropical Rainforest and the Poisonous and Venomous Creatures Section. Visitors are thus provided with a one-stop shopping, eating and entertainment package, all of which are available within one area. After that, we will be going to Galeria

Perdana. It is the aspiration of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali. It was built as a repository for the various awards, souvenirs and gifts received while he was the Prime Minister of Malaysia. For the second day, the first destination is Langkawi Cable Car. It is the Base Station that is located at the Oriental Village (at the foot hill of the Machincang mountain range). From here, visitors will be taken up to the Machincang range giving the visitors panoramic views of the surroundings forests, the Telaga Tujuh (Seven Wells) waterfalls and also the sea. Latest attraction at Langkawi Cable Car is Curve Hanging Bridge. It is 125m curve platform, pedestrian bridge across a deep chasm linking Top Station with Mat Chincang mountain range. We can choose to walk across the bridge or not. There is also souvenirs shop if you want to buy anything. Then, we go to Mahsuri Mausoleum. It is a place where Mahsuri is buried. It is situated in a village amidst padi fields. Historical Langkawi like ancient tools, artifacts and music can be found on the grounds of the mausoleum. Then, we go to Telaga Tujuh Waterfall. It is referring to a collection of seven intertwined natural pools fed by seven separate waterfalls in Mount Mat Cincang. For the last day, we will go to Kuah Town. At Kuah Town, there is a lot of shop. It is duty tax free. Before we travel back to Seremban, we will go to Dataran Helang. This is a place where a 12-meter high sculpture of an eagle, which is the symbol of Langkawi, rest. There are also many other fascinating places to visit. For examples, Batik Art Village, Padang Matsirat, Rice Museum, Gua Cherita, Langkawi Bird Paradise, Tanjung Rhu, Eagle Square, Summer Palace, Black Sand Beach, and Langkawi Crocodile Farms. The total cost will be RM 17,770.00 including accommodation, transportation, packages and meals. Other alternative is to go Langkawi Island by flight. Malaysian Airlines (MAS) and Air Asia operate daily flights to Langkawi from Kuala Lumpur. The price will be RM 198 for adults two way trip while for children age 0 to 2 years old it will be free. I

Choosing Langkawi Island as the location of the annual company trip has its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are there are a lot of places to visit, duty tax free shop, you can have chance to ride in a ferry and cable car. Other than that, all the fees for meals, entrance fee and transportation in Langkawi Island is included in the packages. So, we don’t need to worry about all that. The bad side is that the entrance fee for almost all the places is quite expensive. Other than that, there is a risk when you 6

travel in a ferry. The journey is also taking too long. From Seremban to Jetty Kuala Perlis it will take around eight hour. While from the jetty to Langkawi Island it will take around one and a half our. But if take flight as our transportation, it will be much easier.
3.2 Cameron Highlands
Cameron Highland is Malaysia’s green bowl supplying vegetables to the major cities of Malaysia. It is situated at 1520m above sea level. The cool climate makes it an excellent tea growing area. Cameron Highlands is about 60 kilometres from Tapah, a town on the Kuala Lumpur - Ipoh Highway. From Tapah the road winds uphill via a succession of twists and bends to a series of little townships, which include Ringlet,

Tanah Rata and Brinchang. The drive up will take about one and the half hours to Tanah Rata. All these towns offer a variety of accommodation. With temperatures ranging between 25 and 10 degrees Celsius, Cameron Highland is a popular place for tourists. I have prepared the calculations for accommodation, bus fare, entrance fee, meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner if we choose to go to Cameron Highland for the company annual trip. The calculations are attached for company executive to read through and to decide.

For the second choice trip, it will be Cameron Highland. The company annual trip will be held on 28 November 2009 to 29 November 2009. It will be two days and one night. The journey to Cameron Highland is quite shorter than to Langkawi Island. It only take four and a half hour from Seremban. You can go to Cameron Highland either with car, motorcycle, taxi, bus or by train. For the company annual trip, I suggest that we travel by charted bus. The bus price will be RM 1,700. This includes the fee for getting around Cameron Highland. There are two parts of district in Cameron Highland that have hotel facilities. There are hotels in Tanah Rata and Brinchang. In Tanah Rata, there are Casa Dela Rosa Hotel, Raffles Country Inn, Twin Pines Chalet and so many more. While in Brinchang, there are Hotel Rosa Pasadena, Country Lodge Hotel, Brinchang Hotel and other more. After some study of all the aspect of comfort and facilities, I choose Country Lodge Hotel for our accommodation. This is because, the hotel have 73 rooms in which 57 rooms are apartment base separated into two and three rooms apartment and balance of 16 rooms made up of hotel rooms. All apartments are furnished with living hall, television, STD phone, fridge and attached bathroom with hot and cold water supplies. Hotel rooms have STD phone, television and attached bathroom with hot and cold water supplies. There are lot of places to be visited in Cameron Highland such as Agro technology Park, Cactus Valley, Rose Valley Centre, Galleria Time Tunnel and others.

There is also an outdoor adventures travel in Gunung Brinchang. For the first day, we will go to the Museum and Gallery, Butterfly Centre, Honey Bee Farm and Boh Tea Plantation. Museum and gallery offer visitors a history behind Cameron Highlands in the time tunnel gallery. A lot of the photos in the past are from personal collections of the local people who have been here since the prewar days. Butterfly Centre offers a change to see many different species of butterflies. There are two butterfly farms in Cameron Highlands and they are both located around the Kea Farm area. The popular Bee Farms are Ee Feng Gu Honey Bee Farm that is near the Kea Farm area and Highland Honey Bee Farm. In Boh Tea Plantation, visitors can visit the tea factories to learn about the tea making process. For the second day, we will go to Vegetable Farms, Flower and Nurseries and Strawberry Farm Market. Vegetable farms are located all over the highlands and most of the farms allow visitors in. These farms produce everything from flowers and vegetables to strawberries. Most of the flower nurseries are centered around Bertam Valley and all along the way from Brinchang to Kg.Raja. At the flower gardens and nurseries, be dazzled with the mix colors and species being grown here. The common flowers grown here are roses, carnations, chrysanthemum, dalia, geranium, fuschia and gladioli. You can buy cheap flowers at these nurseries or any market around the highland. Strawberry farms can be found almost everywhere in Cameron Highlands. All offer locally grown strawberries and home made strawberry jams at a very cheap price. Some strawberry farms will let you pluck your own strawberries and charge you according to the weight. There are advantage and disadvantages if choosing Cameron Highlands as the destination of the trip. The advantages are the price of things is cheaper than Langkawi Island. Second, all the packages are very suitable for kids and adults. Cameron Highland also surround with flora and fauna. Other than that, it is nearer to Seremban rather than Langkawi Island. The total cost of the trip is less expensive rather than in Langkawi Island. In the other hand, the disadvantages are includes not many historical place to be
10
SUTINA MUHAMMAD HANIP 830706-05-5058 KDP 14M KPM-OUM JUN 2009
visited rather than Langkawi Island. Cameron Highland doesn’t have many shopping places. There is also no beaches and seaside. To get around Cameron Highlands, we can just use the charted bus services. No additional payment for rental transportation.
4.0 Conclusion The comparison I made between Langkawi Island and Cameron Highland shows that both places have their own advantages and disadvantages. My colleague and I have already discussed about this proposal. We decided to go to Langkawi Island because the activities are more exciting than Cameron Highland. It also has a lot of places that we can go to. We also do not have to worry about altitude sickness among children, rather than we go to Cameron Highland that we know is a high and cold place. The facilities in Langkawi Island are also the best. The scenery also peaceful and it can make us more relax. However, the company executive has the right to make the final decision about the place that we will go to this November for our annual company trip.
