It may take just formality to deference and hallucinate net of heightened words, to express Gratitude in favour of a teacher, or an institute but the fact is somewhat different that the feelings of an obliged heart cannot be put on papers. Always there remains a lot to say but want of words too. I would like to thank my college for providing this opportunity to prepare this valuable project. I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Smarajit Banerjee (D.G.M, HRD), Mrs Divya Jain (Assistant Manager, HRD), Ms Gunjeet Kaur (Senior Officer, HRD) my mentors who took great pains in going through the each step of my project and made valuable comments and suggestions, which has helped me to prepare this project on time. I also express my gratitude to the honourable Head of my department Prof. M. S. Mamik and Mr. R.K. Yadav (Placement coordinator).

1.1 COMPANY PROFILE

“Hero” is the brand name used by the Munjal brothers in the year 1956 with the flagship company Hero Cycles. India's Hero Group and Japan’s Honda Motor Company merged in 19th Jan 1984. Japan has not only created the world's single largest two wheeler company but also one of the most successful joint ventures worldwide. During the 80s, Hero Honda became the first company in India to prove that it was possible to drive a vehicle without polluting the roads. The company introduced new generation motorcycles that set industry benchmarks for fuel thrift and low emission. A legendary 'Fill it - Shut it - Forget it' campaign captured the imagination of commuters across India, and Hero Honda sold millions of bikes purely on the commitment of increased mileage. Over 19 million Hero Honda two wheelers tread Indian roads today. These are almost as many as the number of people in Finland, Ireland and Sweden put together. Hero Honda has consistently grown at double digits since inception; and today, every second motorcycle sold in the country is a Hero Honda. Every 30 seconds, someone in India buys Hero Honda's top -selling motorcycle - Splendor. This festive season, the company sold half a million two wheelers in a single month-a feat unparalleled in global automotive history.

8

VISION Hero Honda had a dream of making motorcycles that would touch and transform the lives of their customers by giving them a mode of transport that was fuel-efficient, comfortable and environment friendly. One that would enhance their efficiency at work, enable them to share moments of joy with their families and add up to a better quality of life. In a scenario where the customer had a few choices, their vision was to offer the highest quality at a reasonable price, to meet their customer’s expectations, and to exceed them. Behind the success of Hero Honda, is the saga of teamwork. In the new millennium, they stand committed to innovation, to change, to achieving breakthroughs… to moving forward in the new century, while retaining the values that have been like a beacon in this journey thus far.

From Activities: Quality circles, CFT’s, Suggestion schemes, Morning stand up meeting, Library, Festivals all these activities are doing well, from these-employees are satisfy but dis-satisfied from open house, picnic/tours. From Attributes: Employees’ getting Knowledge, Self-development, Team work, Participation, Awareness & Motivation they all are moving around these activities but somewhere lacking from decisionmaking & family involvement.

Recommendation: • Employees’ are not aware about the open house, so programs should run by the organization to give them proper knowledge. • Family involvement, picnic/tours is necessary.

Chapter IV – Findings & Recommendations 4.1 Calculation & Observation 75

Correlation Analysis Correlation Q1. Disinfectants are used for keeping the factory clean Q2. Sweepers employed for keeping the washroom clean are performing their duty well Co-efficient of correlation (r) = 0.638 Interpretation: The above two statement are positively associated with each other up to an extent given by r=0.638. So, Sweepers perform their duty well by using disinfectants for keeping the factory clean.

Q3. Various activities of employee involvement enhance the efficiency. Q4. Employee involvement activities motivate the employees. Co-efficient of correlation (r) = 0.789 Interpretation: The value of (r) i.e. 0.789 shows a positive correlation between the above two statements. Thus, employee involvement activities motivate the employees up to high extent, which increase their efficiency. Hence, the result is satisfying the assumption. So our null hypothesis is true or accepted. Q5. Sweepers use detergents for cleaning the washroom. Q6. Sweepers employed for keeping the washroom clean are performing their duty well. Co-efficient of correlation (r) = 0.672 Interpretation: There is a positive correlation between the above two statements which is given by r = 0.672. Therefore, sweepers perform their duty well by using detergents for cleaning the washroom.

Q7. There are proper arrangements for disposal of waste & effluents. Q8. There are proper arrangements to avoid inhalation of dust etc. Co-efficient of correlation (r) = 0.367 Interpretation: Positive correlation of 0.367. But it indicates that proper arrangement for disposal of waste & effluents are not there which show there is dust in the departments. 76

So, appropriate arrangement should be there to avoid waste & effluents to avoid inhalation of dust.

4.2 Conclusion: Employee involvement is based upon the recognition that the success of any organization is determined to a significant extent by the contribution of its employees. Employee involvement programmers therefore seek to facilitate the involvement (or participation) of employees in the company. "If one were to analyze the work patterns, nothing much separates one individual from another, and an employee is as good or as bad as the opportunity and the environment he gets to work. A conducive work environment, where every individual employee is seen as a leader, actually helps build better organization. Today most of the organization have realized that a satisfy employee is not necessarily the best’ employee in terms of loyalty and productivity. It is and engaged’ employee who is intellectually and emotionally bound with the organization, feels passionately about its goals and is committed towards its values. HHG conducts such activities to engage or involve its employees and provides a good work environment so that its people can be happy and most important satisfies. People get equal chance to participate in the activities. They are involved in the activities other than work. A comfortable work environment is there where every employee feels comfy.

4.3 Limitations • Translate the grid & questionnaire in Hindi. • Problem in convincing the employees’ regarding survey to fill the grid & questionnaire. Some employees’ are not supporting in the survey. •

Few employees’ were refusing to fill the questionnaire because they are in fear, with HR Department.

4.4 Recommendations: •

Press Shop: Facility of locker is provided to the contractor.

Weld Shop: (CFT) Management committee must work on quality of activity not quantity. 77

Steel Phase: Shoes is not given to the permanent employees.

Tools & Equipment: Related to habits (questionnaire should be there. E.g.-whether you are using dustbins or not), Awareness should be there or give training related to manners & etiquettes.

Frame Assembly: o Complaint resolution procedure is not up to date there should be a weekly resolution process. o Swasthya CFT arrange its activities to regular employees (it should cover all the employees) o There is no proper exhaust system in production hall; by that humidity level is very high at work place. o Quality circle participants for international convention – minimum of members should there & above. o Quality circle member’s maximum 5 members for each circle. o The temperature variation should be maintained according to atmosphere temperature. o Organization should have enjoyable workplace & healthy relationship at all. o Rest area should be provided near sub-assembly areas, not far away. So that to consume rest time timely. o Hospitality facilities o Appropriate platform is there to put your problem in front of management. o Response should be given towards problem.

4.5 Suggestions: • •

Steel Phase & Gear Phase should be cleaned regularly. A very unpleasant smell is coming from canteen where drinking facility is provided.
