Department of Education Region 02 Schools Division of Nueva Vizcaya Eastern Kayapa District MACDU ELEMENTARY SCHOOL I . TITLE: Project GRACE (Generating Resources Towards Improved Learning Outcomes).

II. BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE Based from the School Improvement Plan (SIP), one of the identified Priority Improvement Areas (PIA) is the low achievement rate of the grade II pupils as was shown in the pre-conduct of the PHILIRI which is 21 out of 28 have a very poor reading comprehension. This is related to poor reading comprehension of pupils and lack of instructional initiatives for pupils’ performance as appeared as  appeared in the root cause analysis. Based on the observations made, reading habit was not inculcated at home thus, there is a need to accentuate its value in school to develop positive behavior of learners towards reading. According to Francis Bacon, reading maketh a full man. Yet, many learners are ar e very poor in reading comprehension. Similarly, reading is an interactive process between readers and texts that result in reading fluency (Grabe (1991 as cited in Alyousef 2005). The reader must understand the text in order to grasp its meaning. Comprehension comes while reading. reading. Therefore, the proponent wants to toughen the learners’ capacity to improve their reading comprehension through this project GRACE.

III. OBJECTIVES AND EXPECTED OUTPUT A.  Objectives: 1.  To reduce the number of beginning and developing pupils in Grade II from 5 to 0 in one year. 2.  To improve teaching by acquiring LED TV. 3.  To provide ICT-based Instructional Materials. B.  Expected Output 1.  Zero beginning and developing Grade II pupils in one year. 2.  Complete ICT-based Instructional Materials. 3.  LED TV.

IV. TARGET BENEFICIARIES The respondents of this project will be the twenty-nine twent y-nine (29) grade II learners. Section Jade

  V. PROJECT DESCRIPTION, METHODS AND STRATEGIES Project GRACE (Generating Resources Towards Improved Learning Outcomes) will be implemented in order to reduce the number of beginning beginning and developing p pupils upils in Grade II from 5 to 0 in one year. In implementing Project GRACE, procurement of LED TV with the help of the Homeroom Parents Teachers Association (HRPTA) as one solution to be used in the teaching learning process is needed. This project includes development of ICT-based instructional Materials, downloading/making of deck  presentation of several stories and the conduct of pre-assessment using PHIL-IRI PHIL-IRI and Quarterly Test since the  project aims to measure the reading comprehension of the grade II learners.

VI. PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
