February 8, 2017 To whom it may concern: As the course coordinator and a clinical instructor, I had the pleasure of working with w ith Shannon Stark during her N-214 Health N-214 Health Across the Lifespan: Adults I course. Our clinical clinical rotation was on 3 East at Winchester Winchester Medical Center, whi which ch is a medical telemetry floor. Shannon took care of a patient each week, increasing her interactive skills, passing medications, and performing interventions for the the patient. She demonstrated a great deal of growth during the clinical experience, both in the clinical clinical setting and in her weekly care pl plans. ans. Ms. Stark would seek assistance from peers, her primary nurse or me, me, as appropriate for the task. She was receptive to feedback while learning new processes or when being reminded of proper techniques. She was punctual for clinical and demonstrated a high degree of integrity.
I also had Shannon during N414: Leadership and Management in Nursing. As indicated by the course title, this this class explored the role of the nurse at the bedside bedside and beyond. Topics included delegation, budgeting and staffing, among among many others. Students were assi assigned gned to groups to complete two projects, including a quality improvement paper with w ith an oral presentation, and a course topic presentation. Her group’s two topi topics cs were workplace violence and m medication edication errors. Through the work her team did on these topics, Shannon was able to iincrease ncrease her understanding of the breadth of the professional nursing role, and learn to work on a team.
With respect to her position as a n nurse, urse, I recommend Shannon Stark. She will be an asset to the the organization and team. Sincerely,
Therese M. Collins, MS, RN, CNE Assistant Professor of Nursing Course Coordinator N-214 and N-414
