Product Manager Questions 1. How many years of product management experience do you have in a telecom environment and what kind of products have you product managed? If you also have product marketing experience please describe that separately. I have approximately 14 years in various facets of product management. Most recently, I was with Tekelec, determining customer requirements, giving product seminars, deciding on new features, training sales engineers and deciding on future roadmap requirements. Previous to that, I put together technical training, developed requirements from C level, engineering and marketing, developed systems from the ground up by understanding and working with customers to develop requirements. I have worked in mainly within wireless telecom and with cable customers with products such and SMS, MMS, IPTV, Unified Messaging, (Data/Voice/Video) and similar value added applications. On the marketing side, I have written a great deal of collateral such as product feature guides and have done market studies to identify market requirements.
2. What experience do you have in market and competitive analysis, business opportunity assessment, business case preparation? Please elaborate. I have done a great deal of competitive analysis, doing studies of competitors, SWOT analysis, reviewing of third party market analysis, writing business cases for new products, showing customers and sales personnel how products are used to drive revenue and achieve ROI 3. What knowledge and experience do you have with the following network technologies and related protocols: IMS, VoIP, IPv4/v6 networking, IPTV, Broadband Data, Managed Business Services, Carrier Ethernet, VPN? My Experience is as follows: IMS – With Ericsson, Acision, Perficient, Nokia and Tekelec VoIP –Tech Consultant – (Ministery of Finance Saudi Arabia), Ericsson, Unified Messaging, Acision, uOne product
IPv4 – Common to all my positions, I was originally certified as a network engineer and have taken CCNA course work for IPv6. Have also worked with IPv6 at Tekelec, as customers are now more commonly requesting it IPTV- Did a lot of work consulting Nokia on IPTV, wrote a number of deep dives on efficiencies of IPTV technology for Nokia Broadband Data – have had experience with this at Ericsson, Unified Messaging and with Acision’s uOne product, sold to cable networks. Managed Business Services – Was responsible Ericsson SMS hosted system as system engineer responsible for supporting all new and previous customer requirements Carrier Ethernet – I am familiar with all facets of Ethernet since I have a background as a network engineer, I have worked with Ethernet since 1993 VPN’s – Very familiar with VPN’s, Since I worked for AT&T wireless in 1997 I have worked with VPN’s getting customer requirements and provisioning VPN’s 4. What knowledge and experience do you have with legacy SS7 voice network technologies and related protocols? I am familiar with various SS7 voice protocols such as ISUP, IAM, I initially had to work with these on the old Octel Serria platforms with Lucent and Ericsson and with prepaid voice platforms
5. Are you willing and able to read a protocol specification understand it, and discuss it with the development team? Have you done this before? Please elaborate. Yes I have used standards many times, I am familiar with i.e. 3GPP, ANSI, TIA and others. I have used them many times as reference and for market compliance issues
6. What experience do you have in Engineering (hardware, software, or systems development) and/or technical sales?
14 years of non stop experience, as a sales engineer / technical product manager developing requirements for customers needing solutions in the mobile and cable telecom area
