P-Type: Fully Closed 

•

Type of construction The closed shed can be constructed by using cold –  rolled / tubular components for structure and corrugated asbestos sheets / galvanized iron sheets for roofing. Brick walls / Asbestos sheets can be used to cover all the sides. The floor of the shed can be finished with plain cement concrete suitably glazed. The shed shall be provided with proper ventilation and illumination.

Facilities :

•

Steel racks shall be preferably used wherever necessary to make effective use of volume of the space so that smaller components could be stored. The racks shall be identified with suitable numbers by using numeric /alpha numeric Ccodes for easy identification of location of components, which shall be entered and maintained in the respective stock register.

Suitable space shall be left for the movement of the forklift / any other lifting device, used for easy handling of heavier components.

•

Adequate fire fighting equipments shall be provided in each shed and they shall be located suitably for easy accessibility so that during emergency times they could be easily handled, fitness of these equipments shall be ensured periodically.

Q-Type: Semi closed Shed 

Type of Construction: The semi closed sheds shall be constructed using cold rolled / tubular components for structure and corrugated / asbestos sheets for roofing. The floor shall be brick  paved. If required a small portion of sides can be covered to protect components from splashing of rain water onto the components. Facilities: Provision shall be made for the movement of materials handling equipment to facilitate easy handling of heavier materials. Adequate fire fighting equipments shall be provided at strategic places inside the semi closed sheds. These equipments shall be periodically inspected and maintained.

R-Type: Open Yard 

Construction Details :

The open yard shall be leveled, well consolidated to achieve raised ground with the provision of cartable feeder roads along with access roads running on all sides. One part of the open yard shall be stone pitched, leveled and consolidated with raised ground suitable for storing / stacking heavier and critical components with due space to handle them by cranes etc.

Facilities :

•

Adequate fire fighting equipments shall be provided at strategic / easily approachable points duly maintained periodically. Adequate no. of sleepers, concrete block etc. to be procured to make raised  platforms to stack critical materials. A separate yard to be identified as “scrap yard” slightly away from main open yard to store wooden / steel scraps which are to be disposed off. This is required to avoid mix up with regular components as well as to avoid fire hazard. Similarly, a separate space may be allotted in closed / semi closed / open as appropriate to store inflammable items like oils, grease, kerosene, / diesel etc. The area is to be provided with warning boards like “NO SMOKING” and “DANGER”. The area shall be fenced or suitably cordoned off.

RT- Type: Open Storage with Tarpaulin Cover / Canopy

Type of Construction : Some of the components which are having both machined and unmachined surfaces and are bulky, shall  be stored in open storage area on a raised ground and suitably covered with fire proof tarpaulin or a canopy over the components shall be installed with steel frame, and GI sheets. The purpose is to protect the components from rain and sun. Facilities : Follow the guidelines given in the semi covered shed.

PT- Type : Closed Shed with Dry and Dust Free Atmosphere 

Type of Construction:

Closed shed with additional provisions of false ceiling with dry and dust free atmosphere, suitable for storing sophisticated components like control and instrumentation components, electrical items and control panels. The temperature and humidity are to be controlled within +5 deg. C to +45 deg. C and
