SEPARACIÓN MAGNÉTICA

Proceso utilizado para concentrar minerales que poseen diferencias en su susceptibilidad magnética, es decir, que responden en forma diferente ante la aplicación de un campo magnético. De acuerdo con su susceptibilidad magnética los minerales pueden ser clasificados como: Paramagnéticos: Son materiales que experimentan magnetización ante la aplicación de un campo magnético, algunos de ellos son: iImenita (FeTiO3), Hematita (Fe2O3), Pirrotita (Fe11S12). Ferromagnéticos: Son materiales que experimentan alto paramagnetismo ante la aplicación de un campo magnético, algunos de ellos son: el Fe y la magnetita (Fe3O4). Diamagnéticos: son materiales que repelen el campo magnético, algunos de ellos son: el cuarzo (SiO2), Feldespatos (K2O.Al2O3.6SiO2) y dolomitas (Mg,Ca(CO3)).
