Hunter Ministries City-Wide Coordinator Manual
We have included this manual with the Hunter books because it is a well though out strategy for holding larger meetings.
Citywide Coordinator An Overview The position of CITY-WIDE COORDINATOR for a Healing Explosion is of vital importance to the overall success of this event. In cities where the pastors and their churches work together in unity on behalf of a Healing Explosion, auditoriums are packed and thousands of lives are touched by the power of God. In cities where this does not take place, results are far less effective. As the CITY-WIDE COORDINATOR, your job is to generate the participation, support and cooperation of as many churches as possible and coordinate their combined efforts to undergird the meeting in prayer, publicize the event, and personally invite as many as possible to the Healing Explosion. As the CITY-WIDE COORDINATOR, you will NOT be responsible in any way for the finances required to meet the expenses of the Healing Explosion and its associated meetings, nor for selection and management of such facilities as the auditorium/arena and conference hotel. You will be totally dedicated to working with the area churches, stimulating and coordinating their involvement. Communication between all members of the Crusade Team is vital. Please keep in regular contact with the Dallas Representative coordinating the activities in your city as well as the Crusade Coordinator.

Pastors/Leaders’ Meeting Hunter Ministries will schedule a PASTORS’/LEADERS’ MEETING and invite area pastors and other Christian leaders of the area by mail and phone. You will be introduced as the CITY-WIDE COORDINATOR for the Healing Explosion and will be asked to briefly share your vision of what the Healing Explosion can do for your city. This is where your duties officially begin. NOTE: Any contacts with pastors and organization leaders which you can make prior to the luncheon to encourage their participation will be extremely helpful. Close contact with the Dallas Representative coordinating this meeting is very important. During this meeting, the vision of the Healing Explosion, how each Pastor can start a VIDEO HEALING SCHOOL in his own church and the organizational structure for church participation in the event will be explained. Each pastor will be asked to assign one or two members of his church (or fellowship group) to each of the six committees and return with those representatives to an ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING scheduled approximately six weeks prior to the Healing Explosion. (For a description of these committees, see the section entitled COMMIITEES.)
Following the Pastors/Leaders’ Meeting Within a week after the luncheon, you should contact by telephone or in person the pastors and leaders who attended or were represented at the luncheon. (This may be done by a capable staff member under your direct supervision.) During this follow-up contact, you should: 1. Share the excitement and enthusiasm felt by you and others in your city. 2. Do they have a Healing School? a. Do they need supplies? b. Do they understand the best format for conducting a Video Healing School? c. Offer encouragement and suggestions for THEIR success in assisting THEIR people to grow and become involved. d. Encourage all churches to begin a school. Emphasize what a school can do for their church. e. Explain that all healing team applications need to be completed and mailed in at the start of the school. f. (Review section entitled HEALING SCHOOLS.) 3. Stress the importance of the upcoming ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING and answer any questions about its purpose. a. Make sure they understand they are to bring as many representatives as possible from their church for EACH of the six committees. You should also contact by telephone or in person those pastors and leaders who were not represented at the PASTORS’/LEADERS’ MEETING. Proceed according to the following outline: 1. Begin with churches which are most likely to become involved. 2. Continue with key churches from every denominational affiliation. (You will be surprised at those who say “Yes”.) 3. Mention well known churches that are already participating. This is important to pastors and may have a major influence on their decision to become involved. 4. Stress the importance of the ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING. Ask them to bring as many representatives as possible from their church. Again, the above calling may be done by a capable staff person under your direct supervision.
Organizational Meeting The ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING is the key to the success of the Healing Explosion. Good representation by 50 or more churches will lead to a successful Healing Explosion. Past ORGANIZATIONAL MEETINGS have been attended by as many as 700 representatives from 70 churches. It is not unreasonable to have a goal of 100 or more participating churches for a Healing Explosion. The location and date of this meeting will be scheduled by Hunter Ministries. The CITY COORDINATOR will arrange for CITY a local music group to lead 20 minutes of praise and worship at the beginning of this meeting. You will be introduced as the CITYWIDE COORDINATOR at this meeting and asked to share what the Healing Explosion can do for your city. After a brief discussion of the Healing Explosion and the organizational structure of a successful Healing Explosion, the six committees will break into groups and meet briefly with the Committee Chairmen and a member of the Hunter Staff. Promotional supplies, video tapes, books and informational materials will be available in quantity for distribution. 30 and 60 second radio spots will also be available upon request. COMMI1TEE CHAIRMEN for each of the six committees will be selected and recognized at this meeting. They will serve under your direction to assist you in carrying out your overall objectives of stimulating and coordinating the efforts of all participating churches and organizations in your city. Although you will be asked to give recommendations for people to chair these committees, Hunter Ministries' personnel will assist you in final selection and appointing the COMMI1TEE CHAIRMEN during the ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING.
Healing School VIDEO HEALING SCHOOLS will be held throughout the area surrounding the Healing Explosion site. To qualify for a Healing Team, Spirit-filled Christians must watch 14 hours of video teaching by Charles and Frances Hunter as well as read the book HOW TO HEAL THE SICK. To facilitate this teaching, the video tapes are “on loan” to local churches and fellowship groups for several months prior to the Healing Explosion. The tapes are to be shown free of charge to everybody who wishes to view them. Offerings may be taken to defray expenses. The tapes may be purchased at any time. The book HOW TO HEAL THE SICK as well as any other Hunter Book are available at a 40% discount to all Video School Coordinators. They have the option to sell the books at retail and again use the profit to defray expenses e.g. utilities, advertising, fliers etc. Many VIDEO HEALING SCHOOLS will be started during the PASTORS’/LEADERS’ LUNCHEON. Many others will be started through phone contacts made by our Dallas Video Coordinators. One Coordinator will be working exclusively on your city contacting all the local pastors/leaders and encouraging them to get involved with the Explosion. This Dallas VIDEO COORDINATOR will also be in close contact with every VIDEO HEALING SCHOOL COORDINATOR to encourage them, answer any questions and keep them up-to-date on current developments. Since many of the active COMMITTEE MEMBERS are also attending VIDEO SCHOOLS, some duplication of contact is inevitable. Video tapes are to be returned to the Houston office or to the Healing Explosion book table before the completion of the Explosion. Invoices requesting payment will be mailed approximately two weeks after the Explosion to those who have not complied. Tapes can be purchased at any time to enable your school to remain ongoing.
Healing Team Members
Specific requirements are set up for all HEALING TEAM MEMBERS. Please review and encourage all prospective team members to comply. 1. They must be Spirit-filled (Baptism in the Holy Spirit will be ministered the first night.) 2. They must read ALL the book HOW TO HEAL THE SICK. 3. They must view ALL 14 hours of video teaching HOW TO HEAL THE SICK or listen to the 14 hours of audio. 4. They must be at ALL the live training sessions on the day of the Explosion...and should make every effort to be at ALL training sessions possible.
Healing Team Supervisors Because “baby” team members have many questions and need encouragement, many SUPERVISORS are needed the night of the Explosion. Those qualified team members who have ministered at two or more Explosions in the past will be interviewed briefly and considered for the positions of HEALING TEAM SUPERVISORS. Local Spirit filled pastors may also be recommended to assist with supervision. Final assignments for SUPERVISORS will lay with Bob Barker, International Crusade Director during the final instructions for the HEALING TEAMS.
Committee Chairmen Where possible, the CHAIRMEN should come from various churches/groups/denominations and should have the coordination abilities necessary to fulfill the duties set forth for their committees. Approximately five working days after the ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING, the following lists of those attending the meeting will be sent out by the Houston office of Hunter Ministries:
1. As the CITY-WIDE COORDINATOR, you will receive a list of ALL people attending the ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING including CHAIRMAN name, address, phone and church affiliation of all members of his committee. 2. Each person attending the ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING will receive the name and telephone number of all COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN 3. The video school listing and church listing will be a good source for additional committee members if necessary.
Committee Members The names, addresses and phone numbers of all COMMITTEE MEMBERS within each local church should be maintained by each Church Representative for his committee. These names, addresses and phone numbers should be passed on by the Church Representatives to the CITY-WIDE COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN no later than two weeks prior to the Healing Explosion. This is vitally important and serves two purposes: 1. Insures that all Committee Members can be contacted quickly with any last minute instructions. 2. Is there adequate numbers for the work to be accomplished? Is additional recruitment of volunteers necessary? As the CITY-WIDE COORDINATOR, you must require these lists of your COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN, who in turn must require them from their Church Representatives. This stimulates accountability and verifies the work is being done. This list of names should be forwarded to the Houston office of Hunter Ministries. Specific last minute instructions and encouragement will be mailed to each committee member a few days before the Explosion as well as a “thank you” following the close of the Healing Explosion meetings.
Committee Meetings A CITY-WIDE COMMITIEE MEETING should be scheduled by each COMMITTEE CHAI RMAN with one or two representatives from each participating church attending. These meetings should be held at least three weeks prior to the Healing Explosion. The selection of a location, date and time, as well as the calling of these meetings, are the responsibility of the respective COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN. However, as the CITY-WIDE COORDINATOR, you need to instruct them in their responsibility to hold these meetings and verily that these meetings do take place in a timely manner. At each of these CITY-WIDE COMMITTEE MEETINGS, the respective COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN will encourage each church representative, answer questions, discuss the progress being made in the churches, make suggestions and have a time of corporate prayer. Publicity supplies should be distributed through all of these CITY-WIDE COMMITTEE MEETINGS. Requests for posters, fliers, and/or tabloids need to be submitted to the Houston office at least 10 working days prior to the scheduled meeting date. Dial 1-800-231-3024 and ask for PUBLICITY.
Local Church Committee Meetings Each Church Representative (or co-representatives) should hold a meeting of the Committee Members in their church within one week following the CITY-WIDE COMMITTEE MEETING which they attend. The purpose of these meetings is to explain to every Committee Member the function of that committee and assign Committee Member specific tasks. The representative heading up that committee within his church is responsible for calling this meeting and for following up with his members to be sure that the work is getting done. As the CITY-WIDE COORDINATOR you need to explain this procedure to your COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN when you meet with them.
Ongoing Contact with Committee Chairmen As the CITY-WIDE COORDINATOR you must maintain on-going contact with each of your COMMI1TEE CHAIRMEN. Monitor their progress and give direction where needed. Stay in close contact with the Publicity Chairman and be responsible for contacting the Houston Office of Hunter Ministries for additional promotional materials. Also be certain that the Prayer Chairman has scheduled at least two CITY-WIDE PRAYER MEETINGS prior to the Healing Explosion.
MEETING OF COMMITFEE CHAIRMEN Within two weeks following the ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING, you must have a meeting with all of your COMMI1TEE CHAIRMEN. The selection of a location, date and time, as well as the calling of this meeting is your responsibility. The purposes of this meeting are as follows: 1. Generate a team spirit that will strengthen the chairmen in their respective tasks. Calling this meeting, praying and sharing together will overcome any apprehensions that the COMMI1TEE CHAIRMEN may have about fulfilling their assignment. 2. Go over the organization chart and explain how the organizational structure works. (See section entitled ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE.) 3. Answer any questions which the Committee CHAIRMEN may have about their duties. Your good judgment combined with regular contact with the Hunter Ministries staff will enable you to answer most questions on the spot, or if not, then promise an answer within a couple of days. 4. Monitor the progress of your Committee CHAIRMEN. When Committee CHAIRMEN understand that you will be contacting them regularly for a progress report, they will stay motivated.
Instructions to Committee Chairman Bring the Believers This committee is headed up by the Senior Pastor of the individual churches/groups however; it may be delegated to a lay leader at the discretion of the Pastor.
1. Appoint the representatives for the other committees. 2. Prior to the Healing Explosion, announce the meeting details at all your services, on your radio/TV programs and in all your literature (bulletins, monthly newsletters, etc.) 30 and 60 second radio spots and an excellent 1/2 hour TV special are also available for any “free” airtime.
