NOTES ON MIND MANAGEMENT By:Pastor Chris
THE MIND The mind is the faculty of mans reasoning and thoughts. It holds the power of imagination, recognition and appreciation. It's responsible for processing feelings and emotions resulting in attitude. THOUGHTS: Thought is the creation of recalling, reviewing and processing of images for meaning, language, reasoning and expression. Thoughts and reasons are being used interchangeably as well as the mind and heart. But the mind and heart are two different things. Man has a two faced nature. There is the outward and there is the inward man. The inward man is the first that was created while the outward man was formed. The inward man is the human spirit and his soul. While the outward man is the human body and its senses. When you look at the physical things you can begin to understand spiritual things. The soul functions for the human spirit. The soul is used for the whole human spirit. Sometimes the heart is used to describe the inward man There is the soul that belongs to the human spirt and that souls is the seat of the mind, the will and the emotions. What the nervous system is to the body, the soul is to the spirit. In the central nervous system, What the brain is to the body, the mind is to the spirit and the mind is in the soul. But the mind is far more complex than the brain because its got more power and influence than the brain. The spirit is the real you. THE BRAIN: The brain is the primary centre for the regulation and control for bodily activities receiving and interpreting sensory impulses. Interpretation: language and expression. They are not in the power of the brain. The brain is neither the mind nor the soul. It's a physical organ of the body while the mind and soul are intangible. The body's central nervous system works in conjunction with the mind for optimal consciousness, conception, memory and expression. These two are ultimately responsible for the character of the mind. Matthew 15:1-20; Evil thoughts comes from a man's heart. They have been processed and categorised. Luke 24:36-39; People fear what they don't understand, they fear something that is beyond their control. Don't dwell on information that ministers fear to your spirit. Fear doesn't exist on its own, it comes as a result of information. There's also a personality called the spirit of fear.
Genesis 6:5-8; Man therefore, is responsible for his thoughts THOUGHTS Thought is the creation, Recalling, Reviewing and processing of images for meaning, reasoning, and language for expression. The mind is responsible for processing feelings God holds man responsible for his thoughts Jeremiah 17:9; Isaiah 55:7 Change your way of thinking, God holds you responsible for your thoughts The mind processes feelings and emotions, which refers to different degrees of affections or disaffections. Deuteronomy 6:5; Love is an expression of emotions. Matthew 22:35-37; Focus, the channeling of your mind to a particular thing. 1st chronicles 22:19; 28:9 Set your affection on God Romans 8:5-8; This means your mind is under your control One of the most important thing you would ever hear in life, is that your mind is under your control, and you've got to accept and acknowledge it! Communication is the expression of your personality. What do you want to glorify, the failure that happens once in a while? Give credit to goodness, to righteousness and success. Your communication reveals your inner processes The images, the thoughts that you process within you Stop! And say you've got control over your mind, over your future and over your thought processes. ATTITUDE Firstly its important to know that we are responsible for our attitude. Attitude is the disposition to act in ways determined by the mental processes of our feelings, emotions, beliefs or reasoning. The processes of our feelings in our mind. They determine our attitude. What we process in our minds determines our attitudes. The mind is the information processing centre of the human person. It collects and processes all the information received through the nervous system of the outward man and through the spiritual senses of the inward man. You may not be responsible for how the information came to you, but what you do with the information is your responsibility.
The interpretation and eventual dissemination is from the mind. What you do with your mind is what matters. The excting remedy of the mind is that it's contents and processes can be managed i.e. recognized and reprogrammed. When you are born again, you are born after God. You are born with the life and nature of God. That means your spirit has received the very nature of its creator and that means you have an excellent spirit cos your spirit is joined to Gods Spirit. But that doesn't mean you are walking in that excellence, but you can. The best things of our spirits are expressed through the mind. Nehemiah 8:10; Don't make, carve out, fabricate or process pains, grief, displeasure or worry because the joy of The Lord is your strength. If you fabricate pain, it will destroy you. If satan wants you to displease God he will take away your joy. Because that's where you get your strength from. Don't let pain, displeasure, grief or worry have dominion over you or take a hold of you. The joy of the lord is expressed in praising God, in laughter, in loving harmony with others by speaking encouraging words. Refuse to dwell on pain or worry. Be strong and not weak, be prosperous and not.... Proverbs 4:23-25; Mount guard over your mind! HOW WE USE OUR MINDS The first and most important thing you do in glorifying God in your life is the Renewal of the mind Romans 12:2 The mind must be renewed in content and processes, this is a taxing but worthy exercise. The only quotient instrument to effectively achieving this, is through the word of God Colossians 3:9-10; You have a new knowledge of God through the Holy Spirit. You must have renewal in content and processes. New Processes Ephesians 4:21-23; Be renewed in the spirit, character, attitude of your mind. Process thoughts, feelings differently and you would see new attitudes. As you renew your mind, you begin to process your emotions and attitude differently through the Holy Spirit Any man can be changed or transformed by the spirit of God, But that change can be sustained by doing the word of God. It's our responsibility to do the word.
1st Samuel 10:5-6,9-11; 1st Samuel 15:10-11; How is your life, grieving or pleasing God? You can only sustain the miracle of God in your life by staying in His word The transformation can only be sustained by doing the word of God. 1st Chronicles 10:13-14; THE MIND AND FAITH Romans 4:17-25; My future is history with God! Strong faith doesn't ponder in the circumstances, rather it processes the information of the word of God. Faith is something with which you live for God and produce the righteousness of God in the earth. You use your faith to establish the word of God Don't deviate from the vision, don't deviate from what God has said, but stay on the right course! Reject the thoughts of the devil that are coming to you, cos you're responsible for your thoughts. Don't ponder on the circumstances, ponder on the word of God. Use your mind. Satan will attack your mind but say no to those thoughts. Set your mind on things above and not on things in this world, and pray in that direction. There's a picture given to you, hold on to Gods picture, process God's picture. What image are you seeing, the one that glorifies God or the other that doesn't For a long time, many of God's children equated meditation with just thinking or pondering over the Word. However meditation is much more than thinking deeply on a subject. That is just one aspect of meditation; there's more to it revealed in God's Word. Meditation is one of the godly exercise that you must practice for a life of dominion and glory. It is a vital activity for every child of God, and its power cannot be overemphasized. In Joshua 1:8, the Bible says "this book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but that shalt meditate on it therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Three levels of meditation The word "meditation" in the verse of scripture above is translated from the Hebrew word "hagar" which means to "imagine; mutter". It also means to "roar". This immediately tells us that there are three levels of meditation, each of which is vital. The first level of meditation is to visualize God's Word as you study it. This means to ponder or think quietly on God's Words in picture. As you keep these pictures in your mind, the Word will be driven into your spirit and will take root there. The second level of meditation is to mutter God's Word. This means to speak God's Word under your breath, to yourself, over and over again. As you do this, the Word will become personal to you. It will go beyond the written page, beyond the reading of your mind and intellect, into your spirit. It will becomes God's Word to you, and not some distant words written in the Bible. The third level of meditation is to roar God's Word! At this stage, you shout God's Word out loud. In the book of Isaiah 31:4, the Bible says, "For thus hath the Lord spoken unto me, like as the lion,
and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them..." In this verse of scripture, the Bible beautifully translated the same Hebrew word "hagar" as "roar". The purpose of this kind of meditation is to drown every other thoughts in your consciousness, including thoughts that the devil may try to bring and cause the Word of God in your spirit to rise. When you begin shouting God's Word to yourself like this, some other folks may think something is wrong with you, but continue. The Bible says "...for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success". The power of meditation Meditation drives the Word into your spirit. It takes the Word from your mind into your spirit. In your mind, you can still reason out the Word of God; but when it gets tour spirit, it becomes real and personal to you. That Word may not have any scientific explanation, but you just know that it is reality, and there is nothing that can take it from you. Also, it is important to understand that meditation is what gives you rhema. Rhema is the spoken Word of God. It is the "now" Word of God for your situation, and you receive it by meditating on the written Word, which is logos. Logos has the ability to produce results in you and to deliver an inheritance to you, but it will not make you enjoy your inheritance. The Word that changes things is rhema. With rhema, there is no condition in your body that cannot be changed. Another powerful result of meditation is that it will make you the Word! This is God's purpose for giving you His Word, so we would become the Word. As you practice meditating consistently on God's Word, you find that you will begin to think, talk, and act like God. Your whole life will become a reflection of the Word. When this happens, it will be impossible for any sickness to remain in your body, because the Word would have permeated your entire body system and taken charge of your being. Understand that the Word has the divine energy to affect everything about your life including your physical body. Proverbs 4:22 says "For they (the Word) are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh". There may be a situation in your body that you desire a change;find someplace where you can be alone and meditate on God's Word. You may not feel like it; especially when your body is telling you something different, but do it. The Word is sure to prevail over that situation, and causes you to walk in victory always!
