Mexican composer Manuel M. Ponce (1882-1948) studied in Paris, where he befriended Andrés Segovia, among others. He wrote more than forty works for the guitar, and fifty popular songs and song cycles. With its beautiful melody and poignant verse, his beloved Estrellita, arranged here for voice and guitar by Gregg Nestor, is a classic in song literature.

Estrellita (Little Star) Estrellita del lejano cielo, que miras mi dolor, que sabes mi sufrir. Baja y dime si me quiere un poco,  porque yo no puedo sin su amor vivir.

 Little star of the distant sky,  you see my pain,  you know my anguish. Come down and tell me if he loves me a little, because I cannot live without his love.
