Course Overview

Course Overview Multi Resource Scheduling (MRS) is an add-on to the SAP ECC components. MRS provides the resource planner in various application areas with an intuitive graphical interface that contains information about open demands, the utilization of resources, and any possible conflicts with the current resource planning. The MRS planning tools can be integrated with ECC components including: plant maintenance, service management, customer service, project system, and human resources. This overview class will introduce the student to the functions of the MRS planning tools as well as integration points with the other ECC components. The following topics are dealt with, in particular: • • • •

Business process addressed with MRS Integration with other SAP components Functions of the MRS planning board Automatic planning optimization functions in MRS

Course Outline

Unit 1 Overview of Multi Resource Scheduling Unit Overview This unit will introduce you to the history of the MRS solution and the business processes it is designed to address. MRS is a cross-application add-on designed to provide a single point of access to view demands and assign resources to the demand. This forward integration is complemented with a backward integration that allows for resource assignments and date changes to be written back to the originating application.

Lesson: Introduction Lesson Objectives After completing this lesson, the participant will be able to: • • •

2014

Describe the roadmap to the development of MRS Put the solution into prespective Identify the points of integration with other SAP solutions

Project System Plant Maintenance Customer Service

As well as Human Capital Management, and Customer Relationship Management. These integrations allow MRS to provide a singular place to assignment resources and revise the scheduling of the task being assigned.

Lesson: MRS Integration Lesson Objectives After completing this lesson, the participant will be able to: • • • • • • •

List the options for deployment of MRS Describe the SAP applications and solutions supported by the MRS add-on solution Explain the architecture of MRS Describe the variety of processes supported by MRS List the key functions found in MRS Describe the use of application / MRS master data Describe the views associated with the MRS Planning Board

Unit 3 Basic MRS Function Overview Unit Overview This unit will introduce you to the functions in the MRS Workplace and the maintenance of employee qualifications within MRS. Employee qualifications can be used as a method of finding appropriate resources for specific requirements of the demand. In this unit we will introduce you to the maintenance of the employee qualifications within MRS and the methods that may be invoked to transfer the qualifications from HCM master data. The second lesson in the unit will provide you the student with a high level overview of the parts of the MRS Workplace and provide you with navigational skill to get around in the MRS Planning Board. As there are many methods to accomplish the same results we will demonstrate the use of context menus and drag-and-drop techniques in order to assign resources, maintain assignment types, revise basic dates, and etc. Lessons specific to the MRS 800 version of the software have also been added to show you the new functions available in this latest release.

Lesson: Employee Qualifications Lesson Objectives After completing this lesson, the participant will be able to: • • • • • • •

Explain the use of qualifications and requirements Describe the master data for employees Describe the master data catalogs and matrices Use of the master data in qualification / requirements matching Describe creation and use of profiles Explain the maintenance options for the Employee Profile Explain options in qualification matching
