The Dierence Between Holisc Perspecve from a Paral Point of View

We have already discussed the meaning of Philosophy from our previous lesson. Now, let us proceed to another topic.

Holisc thinking refers to a perspecve that considers large-scale paerns in systems.

A holisc perspecve requires an individual to have an open mindset and ability to get the general sense or impression regarding a situaon. -

Paral thinking focuses on specic aspects of a situaon. The paral view is an

important component of analycal thinking, as an individual focuses on certain areas or aspects of a problem in order to understand it.

The term "holisc thinking" refers to a big picture mentality in which a person recognizes the interc interconn onnect ectedn edness ess of variou variouss elemen elements ts that that for form m larger larger system systems, s, paern paernss and object objects. s. Thinking holiscally is the opposite of analyzing something, which involves breaking down a larger system into its details. Holisc medicine is a prominent example of holisc thinking. A medical professional who believes in holisc care considers the relaonship between the mind, body and spirit. For example, holisc doctors don't just provide paents with medicaons. Instead, they look at ways to improve life balance and eradicate health problems from their root source, such as high stress or bad nutrion. In philosophy, point of view describes the percepon of an event eve nt or phenomenon and how exactly it is viewed. Point of view oen is shaped by an individual's beliefs or experiences. Though paral thinking is useful, philosophy ulizes holisc thinking in making sense of problems and issues related to the human experience. People Peopl e tend to apply an analycal analycal perspecve perspecve when looking looking at problems problems or situaons situaons.. A holisc view gives rise to a more appreciave perspecve about life, as we are able to look at life in its totality.

What’s In

Plato traced man’s need to philosophize to his sense of wonder. Whenever we are confronted with an experience, we always wonder how it came about. French philosopher Rene Descartes traced the need to philosophize to doubt. In life, we will be faced with several ideas and arguments which present themselves as “truths”. A crical and quesoning perspecve is necessary to determine if indeed these ideas or views are correct or true. Swiss-German philosopher Karl Jaspers saw the need to philosophize because of experience. e xperience. These experiences limit situaon, philosophy provides us a means to understand adverse or challenging condions, and to rise above them and gain new knowledge and perspecve. The need to philosophize is driven by the love for wisdom. To love wisdom is to have an insaable desire for truth. Philosophy itself is a disnct area of knowledge with its own goals, concerns, and ways of doing things.
