Rhythmic and full of energy, this piece has a fresh and innovative sound. Visually and musically the piece is dominated by a single bass drum, which is placed flat. Both of the players has his own pair of Darbukas and Hi-Hat. Bothof them are required to play on the bass drum with their own timbale sticks, sometimes all at once. This results in a surprisingly wide variety of tonal variation, as the skin of the bass drum reacts differently with the vibration from one stick reaches the vibration of the other. The bass drum tends to drive the ensemble ahead, while fast, hard patterns on the Darbukas and the whirring clash of the Hi-Hat create a feeling of an energetic release of tension.
