Description
Divining Using a Pendulum Basically, a pendulum is some type of a weighted object attached to a string or a chain. (I use a pendant on a fine chain for my pendulum.) Once you have assembled your pendulum, sit down in a comfortable position. Hold the pendulum by the string a few inches away from your body. You can used one hand to make sure the weighted portion is still. Next, keeping the han d holding the string perfectly still, say to the pendulum, "show me yes". If it works, you will see the weight move, either in a circular motion or back and forth. Now ask the pendulum, "show me no". Once you have seen what "yes" and "no" look like to you (it can vary from person to person), you can start asking questions like "Is today the 15th?" or "Is my middle name Jane?" It's important to relax and clear your mind so as to focus only on the question being asked when using a pendulum. It can be quite easy to project the answer you want into your reading, but with time and practice, you will start to get a sense of wh ether or not the reading is a "good" one. The pendulum can be used to answer "yes" or "no" questions. If you ask a question and the pendulum doesn't respond, rephrase the question or ask again at another time. Basically, this is a tool to tap into your intuition, or alternatively, your spirit guide, to get information. For this reason, it works best if you are asking qu estions about things that are in your power to control, i.e. "Should I consider changing jobs at this time?" or "Is soand-so someone that I can trust?" Asking "Will I meet my dream man/woman today" doesn't really work because that is not something in your personal realm that you can control. And, unfortunately, it can't give you this week's winning lottery numbers. (I know; I've tried it.) Once you have some experience with the pendulum, it is possible to find out information for someone else if you know the person quite well. This is important because you are tapping into your own resources to find answers a nswers for the other person.
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO USE YOUR PENDULUM Hold the pendulum between your thumb and index finger with your elbow slightly bent at your side. Use the hand that feels most comfortable for you. Relax! It is important to let the natural vibrations of your own body move through your hand to the pendulum. The pendulum works like muscle-testing or kinesiology: your sub-conscious knows what you need to know. The pendulum will show you the answer by picking up and amplifying the subtle vibrations from your sub-conscious, causing the pendulum to swing! You can ask any question to get a YES or NO answer. HOW TO INTERPRET YES/NO
For many people, when the pendulum swings left and right this can be interpreted as a "NO". If the pendulum swings to and fro, then this can be interpreted as a "YES". If your pendulum swings elliptically, clock-wise, counter-clockwise, or in some other gyration or even stays rigidly still, you must interpret this as best you can. Here's a hint: Ask your pendulum something that is true:
"IS MY NAME .................. ? (insert your real name) Note what the response is. This will give you a "YES". Now ask your pendulum something that you know is not true: "IS MY NAME BARNEY?" Note what the response is. This will give you a "NO". SOME IMPORTANT TIPS
The pendulum can provide a good second opinion. It uses your own energy and as such should not be touched by others who may impart their vibrations into the pendulum and thereby reduce its reliability. Keep the pendulum with you as much as possible during the first 3 weeks to have it absorb your own energies. Ask the pendulum simple questions that will help build your trust in the answers. Asking questions that you all ready know the answers to will end up in your own frustration. The pendulum will learn to resonate with you, within your own energy field. Cleanse your pendulum in salt water (1 tsp. salt in 8 oz. water) overnight after your purchase and then once a month thereafter. Some people get better results holding the pendulum about 1" above the open palm of their opposite hand. This "opens" your energy circuits and creates a bio-feedback loop and the energy will flow more freely. If your pend ulum doesn't move very well for you, try opening and closing your hands a few times to activate the hand energy centres (The Hand Chakras). Also empty your mind of do ubts and preconceptions about the outcome of your question. It is important to have a clear mind so the answer doesn't get all muddled up by your own thoughts.
"Clear" the energy from pendulum after each question by simply lowering the tip for a moment to your hand or other surface. This signals that your question has been answered and you are ready for the next question. Use this technique frequently, especially if your answers seem confusing. SUGGESTED USES FOR YOUR PENDULUM:
Your pendulum will answer any question with either a "yes" or "no", so it is important to structure your question properly. Example: "Will I get a new job?", is a good question.
The answer can be either "yes", or "no". An example of a poor question is: "Should I stay at this job or leave ?". This question does not give the choice for the answer to be either yes or no. Ask either: "Should I stay at this job?", or "Should I leave this job?" to get a clear answer. You can hold your pendulum over any object to determine a range of answers. For example, hold the pendulum over food to determine if it is suitable for you (or others) to eat. Pick out the best tasting apple at the grocers next time by holding your pendulum over each apple until you get a "yes". Don't mind other people staring at you, they'll just have to get used to so many people using pendulums in public! When you have a number of choices to select from, use a list or a chart. Draw a circle or a semi-circle with a radius of about 4" - 6". Mark the choices off as degrees on the circle. Hold the pendulum in the center and the swing of the pendulum will line-up with the appropriate marked off selection. This technique can be used to select vitamin supplements, herbal teas, colours in the aura, healing stones to wear... If you need to determine a date to do something, use your pendulum over a calendar. Hold the pendulum over each date of the month, waiting until the pendulum registers an answer. As you become proficient with the pendulum, your answers will become almost instant.*
How To Use a Pendulum Pendulums are made from a variety of materials including crystals, wood, glass, and metals. They are often used as tools for spiritual healing and inner growth. Difficulty: Average Time Required: 15 to 30 minutes Here's How: 1. Choose A Pendulum: Allow a pendulum to choose you. If you like the way it looks or feels, it is meant for you. 2. Cleanse Your Pendulum: You may cleanse it by holding it under running cold tap water, soaking it in sea salt, or setting a mental intention to free it of 'picked up energies.' 3. Understand the Directional Swings of Your Pendulum: Pendulums swing in vertical straight lines, horizontal straight lines, and in circular movements. 4. Define the Directional Swings of Your Pendulum: Assign each directional swing a "response" by first asking the p endulum to show
you what certain responses look like. Ask: What do es a NO look like? What does a YES look like?... and so on. Pendulum Response Examples: vertical swing signifies NO horizontal swing signifies YES circular movement signifies NEUTRAL 5. Prepare Your Questions: A question should be one that can be answered with a positive, negative or neutral response.
Good Example Question: Will I be offered the job I interviewed for this morning? Poor Example Question: Will my pregnant cousin deliver a boy or girl? 6. Set Your Intention: It is imperative that you precede your question session with a prayerful request or statement. Example Intention: It is my intention to receive truthful answers which will serve the go od of all concerned. 7. Ask Your Questions: Be prepared to ask several questions in order to receive enough information to aid you in your quest for answers. 8. Between Questions: Make sure to completely stop any pendulum motion between questions to clear any lingering energies that pertain to the previous question. Tips: 1. Accept information only if your instincts assure you it is accurate. 2. Keep a notebook handy to write down your questions and your pendulum's response. 3. Each pendulum may have a different response. Likewise, each person must establish their own directional swings before using a pendulum. 4. Make sure that the pendulums have been cleared of any negative energies before and after each use.
Dowsing Dowsing is a general term used to describe the art of discovering things that are hidden. It is also known as water witching. A water witch uses a forked stick or a rod to find water located underground. A pendulum can also be used for this purpose.
Diving Rod A forked twig is the instrument normally used to find underground water. Most practitioners of the art of dowsing use a stick taken from a willow tree for this purpose. The reason is simple: willows are thought to b e attracted to water. They require a moist environment to grow properly. The theory is that there is some element in the twig that acts in conjunction with the diviner to find the underground water.
Ancient Practice Images of people holding tools in a forked shape have been found in artwork from ancient Egypt and China. This may indicate that dowsing was practiced by these people. The Bible contains an account of Moses using a rod to find water (Numbers 20:11). During the Middle Ages, dowsing was used to find coal deposits. Martin Luther referred to the practice as "the work of the devil." The term "water witch" is derived from this comment.
How Does It Work? One theory about dowsing is that the dowser establishes a connection on a psychic level with the substance or object being sought. Another idea put forward about dowsing is that all things are surrounded by a type of energy field. The dowser has the ability to locate and zero in on the vibrations given off by whatever object or substance he or she has been asked to find. The act of picking up on these vibrations or energy causes the dowsing rod or pendulum to move. The pendulum or diving rod moves in response to the diviner's questions or thoughts. A rod will pull down when the diviner comes close to an underground source of water. Another piece to the puzzle is that the diviner may have a heightened ability to interpret clues contained in his or her physical environment. This ability may well be something the diviner is not consciously aware of.
Albert Einstein on Divining While skeptics argue that dowsing doesn't work because it is impossible to measure its success in controlled conditions, Albert Einstein believed that dowsing was legitimate. He felt that the dowsing rod was a tool that could demonstrate the human body's nervous system's reaction to certain as-yet-unexplained factors.
