PURPOSE This procedure describes the workflow required to install, setup and run PDS on a Windows 7 machine running UAC. Please note that most of these settings are the same settings and workflows that were/are required for earlier windows operating systems including XP. Software: Microstation J 07.01.05.03 RIS Client 06.01.00.02 Batch services 06.01.00.XX SPLM PDS latest Windows 7 Version 11.00.01.XX

2. INSTALLATION •

Log in as administrator with local administration rights on the computer

Create the temp folder, preferably on the C:\ drive and make sure the security of the folder allows the users write, read and execute access; this should include the Intergraph Batch Manager account. Also create a share to this folder with the same permissions.



Create the following directories: o C:\win32app\ o C:\win32app\ingr\ o C:\win32app\ingr\share\



Modify the registry as follows: o Add to the registry a new key and a string value within that key named “Common” with a value of C:\win32app\ingr\share to the following registry key: For a x86 (32 bit OS) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intergraph\ For a 64 Bit OS HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Intergraph\ o

Add to the registry a new DWORD value named DisableUNCCheck, with a value of 1 the following registry key (NOTE: it will be called ”DWORD (32-bit) Value” on a 64 bit system): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor\

o

Modify the following registry entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurePipeServers\WIN REG This modification is required in order for PDS to be able to resolve node names and paths into UNC paths for non-administrator users. There are three recommended methods for modifying this key. 1) Add the shares on the server to the allowed paths in the WINREG key To add all allowed paths, add System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Shares as the value for the AllowedPaths key in the WINREG entry. 2) Grant access permissions to the users or user groups from within the Registry Editor 3) Delete the WINREG key



*Install SmartPlant License Manager After installation and in order to use a license to run PDS applications you must run SPLM by right clicking on the start menu item and selecting “Run as administrator”, you will be prompted by User Access Control to run this executable, select yes. Setup the license server this computer will point to by choosing >Configure and Test>Select License Machine for Client>

*Install Microstation J Note: A complete installation is required



*Install RIS Client After installation, and in order to use RIS you must point to the Schemas file. Run RIS Schema Manager from the RIS folder in the windows start menu. Choose Schema file, select the “Show Schema File Location” button on the window that appears and then select the next button below labeled “Locate Schema File”. In the “Schema File Name” text box type the path to the schema file including its name



*Install Intergraph Batch Manager



*Install PDS Applications After installation, and in order to run PDS the application needs to be setup to point to the appropriate pds.cmd file and the batch queues need to be setup. To setup the pds.cmd file select “PDS Configure” under the PD_Shell start menu folder, you will be prompted by User Access Control to run this executable, select yes. At this point you should setup the path to the pds.cmd file and choose the “Update Registry Entry for Local Machine” option on the bottom of the dialog. This will setup the location of the cmd file for anyone that has not already chosen to point the registry entry to their “Current User” profile in the registry. Note that Current User entries override the Local Machine entries for pointing to the pds.cmd file. To setup the PDS Batch Queues on a Windows 7 machine an administrator must run PD_Shell or PDS Queue from the start menu for the first time. The link in the Windows start menu folder will automatically ask for elevation of application, you will be prompted by User Access Control to run this executable, select yes. After doing so you will be allowed to setup the Queues. Note that if you run this application without Queues created and you are not an administrator for the machine the Queue creation process will fail. Also note that if PDS2D was installed on the machine the path variable in environment variables for the user running the create PDS Queue command must have the pdshell path variable (normally "c:\win32app\ingr\pdshell\share") before the PDS2D variable (normally "c:\win32app\ingr\pds2d\binnt") for the PDS Queue creation command to work properly.

* Note you should be prompted by User Access Control to approve the installation of this software. Reminder: you need to change the temp and tmp variable to point to c:\temp for ALL Users that might need to work on this machine!!
