AIAC – Panchang Analysis (James Randi)
Vara: Strength to perform/zeal Tuesday (Mars) Vara lord (Varesh) is Mars located in the 10th house in Taurus with exalted Rahu indicating he his energy will increase in matters regarding his authority, royal status, profession and honor. Mars is in digbala and is extremely strong in the 10H indicating that the native will never face an energy crisi in his life as long as he is challenged (Rahu). Mars in Taurus will enable him to build a strong foundation for his authority and work but he will have problems with others since Mars (Varesh) is opposite its own sign of Scorpio. Also, by virtue of being with exalted Rahu, his energy will increase many folds when challenged. He will love to defeat his opponents and such victory will enhance his ability to work even more. However, Varesh will benefit from exalted Rahu, so his energy will gain from sudden reversals, foreigners, or living in a foreign land. Mars has graha drishti on Venus in Leo in the 1st house which gives his energy personal charm, magnetism, and a showy grandeur directed by his intelligence. Mars in the 10th rules the 9th house containing Moon and Jupiter in Aries giving his energy support from his belief in his work, as well as a willingness sacrifice his society, religion and other people for his work. Mars has rasi drishti with Mercury and Sun in Cancer in the 12th giving him a much needed space (even if confining), a respite from conflicts with others in order to cultivate his energy and nurture his dreams. Tithi: Fructification of Desires and Passions Krishna Sapthami (Saturn) - Bhadra (Prithvi) - Surya Tithi lord is Saturn located in the 4th house with Ketu in Scorpio and is retrograde. His desires and passions would be rooted in a disciplined practice of past traditions for personal gain and power (Saturn retrograde) and detachment regarding same (Ketu). Tithi lord has a 7th graha drishti on the Varesh (Mars) giving him energy to build a foundation for his desires. Tithi lord also has graha drishti on Venus in Leo in the 1st house giving him the ability to make his passions look attractive to others. Tithi lord has rasi drishti with Mercury and Sun in Cancer in the 12th and would have benefit of inner knowledge from dreams and the ability to speak with nurturing emotion, which could be attractive to others. The Tithi is a Bhadra tithi on a Tuesday, so he would form something (material) which would help him in battles of his choice; in this case his choice is skepticism of Saturn. James Randi formed (Bhadra Yoga) the “James Randi Educational Foundation” where he challenges (Mars) anyone with supernatural/paranormal abilities (Ketu) and proves that they are thugs (Rahu). This is the true fulfillment of his desire as a Skeptic (Saturn). Karana: Road to Accomplishment/Work Bava karana Bava karana indicates a highly creative, desire filled, political and/or artistic person – good for kinds and worldly individuals with a practical mind. He attained his objectives in a creative way to challenge people with physic abilities. He was authoritative, creative and extremely determined which is surely indicated by Bava karana. ©Ancient Indian Astrology Classes

Nakshatra: Longevity/Time Aswini (Ketu) Aswini gives a healing touch, regenerative potential, physical power and stamina, a capacity for leadership and thirst for sensation. Aswini people generally tend to show interest in magic/occult. The nakshatra lord Ketu is placed with Tithi Lord showing a very strong connection between his purpose of life (as he sees it) and his longevity. This also indicates that till the point the native has a very strong passion, he will function irrespective of all hindrances of the health that he might face. Ketu with a retrograde Saturn does surely indicate health issues. However, Ketu has a rasi drishti from both Moon and Jupiter from the ninth house indicating he will surely recover from such diseases. Yoga: Relationship with Surroundings/Circle of Friends Soola (Mercury) Soola yoga (spear/pain) is a person whose relationships are confrontational and contrary, quarrelsome, angry. Yoga lord Mercury is in the 12th house in Cancer with the Sun. Mercury has rasi drishti with retrograde Saturn and Ketu in Scorpio in the 4th and Mars and Rahu in Taurus in the 10th and is very much centered on this person’s attitude toward his quest regarding mastery of his powers and public position regarding same, thereby sacrificing his relationships. Yogesh (Mercury) is with Sun. This Sun is in maranasthana (dead zone) and hence Yogesh will be influenced by this Sun. This could affect his partner and children. Yogesh has a strong connection with Varesh - Mars (rasi drishti), Tithi Lord- Saturn (rasi drishti) and Nakshatra Lord – Ketu (rasi drishti). This indicates that he will see people primarily in his work and areas of passion. Such people will be either angry (Mars) with him or sorrowful. They may be skeptics (Saturn) or social outcastes – magicians/psychics/healers (Rahu/Ketu). However, Yogesh is with Sun which indicates that he will have company of powerful people as well. In 1981 asteroid 3163 Randi was named for him In a 1981 appearance on a show called That's My Line, Randi appeared opposite psychic James Hydrick, who claimed that he could move things with his mind, and demonstrated this ability on live television by apparently turning a page in a telephone book without touching it. In 1987, Randi became a naturalized citizen of the United States. In 1988, Randi tested the gullibility of the media by perpetrating a "fraud" of his own. By teaming up with Australia's 60 Minutes program and by releasing a fake press package he built up publicity for a spirit channeler named Carlos, who was actually an artist named Jose Alvares, a friend of Randi. Randi would tell him what to say through sophisticated radio equipment. The media and the public were taken in, as no reporter bothered to check Carlos' credentials and history, which were all fabricated. The hoax was exposed on 60 Minutes; Carlos and Randi explained how they pulled it off. In 1996, Randi established the James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF). Allison DuBois, on whose life the television series Medium was based, threatened Randi with legal action for using a photo of her from her website in his December 17, 2004 commentary without her permission.[74] Randi removed the photo, and now uses a caricature of DuBois when mentioning her on his site, beginning with his December 23, 2005 commentary. From September 2006 onwards, he occasionally contributes to The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe podcast with a column titled "Randi Speaks." In February 2006, Randi underwent coronary artery bypass surgery.
