Retrievable Bridge Plugs
WRP Bridge Plug Weatherford’s WRP bridge plug is a retrievable plug set by conventional wireline or a hydraulic setting tool, such as the HST, to isolate temporarily the lower part of a wellbore. The standard caged, bidirectional carbide slips provide long life and durability and simple, effective anchoring to the casing. The compact plug enables easy retrieval on tubing, coiled tubing, or sand line with a retrieval tool. After the tool engages the top of the plug, the equalizing valve opens before the plug is released, preventing it from moving with differential pressure. Elastomeric sealing elements hold pressure from above and below.
Applications • Zonal isolation • Wellhead repair and replacement • Casing-pressure testing • Acidizing, fracturing, and cementing
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The compact design enables deployment through tight doglegs and short lubricators.
• The swab-resistant packing element enables a faster run in, reducing the rig time to set the plug.
• The bridge plug can be set by wireline, coiled tubing, or a hydraulic
setting tool and retrieved by a sand line or coiled tubing, depending on the well conditions.
• The straight-pull release provides simple operation on the rig. • The rotational safety release enables the operator to release the plug if the straight pull has difficulties, reducing rig time.
• The equalizing valve opens before the plug is released to prevent
movement from differential pressure and enable safe plug retrieval.
• The overshot washes to the gauge ring for easy, dependable retrieval.

Retrievable Bridge Plugs
TS Spring-Loaded Retrieving Tool Weatherford’s TS spring-loaded retrieving tool runs and retrieves the TS-U retrievable bridge plug. A one-quarter left turn of the tool releases the plug. The field-proven tool design minimizes the risk of its breaking away from the plug during retrieval. The running J-pins can exit the tool only after the spring force is overcome.
Applications • Running and retrieving a TS-U plug
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The simple four-part tool automatically attaches to the plug during weight set-down and requires only a one-quarter turn for release, making the tool easy to run and redress.
• The spring-loaded design minimizes tool separation from the plug, reducing the possibility that the plug breaks away during running and retrieval.
• The one-quarter left turn for plug release provides reliable setting in applications with limited rotational movement.
• The plug locks in place on the J-track with the heavy-duty spring and
positive loading, preventing premature plug release and misruns and saving time.
• The strong compression spring keeps the plug J-pins securely locked in the tool jay until enough weight collapses the spring, enabling tool removal.

Retrievable Bridge Plugs
B and BII Retrievable Bridge Plugs Weatherford’s B and BII retrievable bridge plugs selectively isolate zones for acidizing, fracturing, squeeze cementing, and testing in shallow applications. Each plug can also inexpensively and temporarily plug a well for the installation or removal of wellhead equipment. The BII plug has enclosed slips for easy entry into liners. Both plugs operate identically. Pressure from above or below the plug sets the slips and anchors the plug. The large controlled bypass enables the plug to be run and then retrieved by tubing or a sand line without a swabbing risk.
Applications • Deviated wells and liners • General service • Acidizing • Fracturing • Squeeze cementing • Testing • Temporary abandonment
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The plug may be run with a service packer to straddle zones, saving the time of two runs to set a plug and a retrievable service packer.
• The optional right or left retrieving tool provides flexibility on the rig. • The straight pull to release enables the plug to be retrieved reliably in a highly deviated well and liner.
• The plug can be retrieved on a sand line or tubing, depending on the well conditions.
Options • Both plugs are available with ball catchers to prevent retrieval difficulties.

Retrievable Bridge Plugs
Well Suspension Bridge Plug Weatherford’s well suspension bridge plug is a high-pressure valve used with the PST packer to plug the wellbore temporarily during operations. With the valve open, the plug enables testing below it while containing pressures from below inside the work string. With the valve closed, the string and annulus can be tested independently.
Applications • Well-suspension operations • Testing • Acidizing • Fracturing
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The overshot seals enable pressure testing to check the plug integrity from below before overshot pulling, eliminating plug pulling and redressing because of a leak.
• The overshot can be locked onto the valve for work-string testing before valve opening, ensuring string integrity.
• Pressure below the plug is contained within the work string during
equalization, ensuring safety and well control in shallow applications.
• The work string and annulus can be tested independently after the valve is closed, ensuring that the plug holds pressure above and below for safety and well control.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
FracGuard® 300 Series Composite Bridge Plugs Weatherford’s FracGuard 300 series composite bridge plugs isolate the formation above the plug for fracturing operations in both single- and multiple-zone stimulation applications. Operational integrity at high temperatures for extended periods of time sets FracGuard plugs apart. They can be run on tubing, drillpipe, coiled tubing, or wireline using conventional bridge plug setting equipment. FracGuard bridge plugs excel in stacked applications, achieving reliable operation and rapid drillout using conventional drilling methods and equipment, including coiled-tubing drilling motors. They work extremely well in underbalanced applications and in highly deviated, horizontal, or multilateral wellbores. FracGuard plugs are available in more standard configurations than most competitors’ plugs—for 3-1/2- to 9 5/8-in. casing. The flexibility of these tools can save operational time while protecting sensitive formations.
Applications • Single- or multiple-zone stimulation • Vertical, deviated, horizontal, or multilateral wellbore • Underbalanced, multiple-zone completions • Temporary well plugging
Features, Advantages and Benefits • Temperature rating to 300°F (149°C). • Pressure rating to 10,000 psi (689 bar). • Plugs hold full differential pressure from above and below. • Beveled bottom prevents body from spinning, thus decreasing drillout time.
• Composite construction produces lightweight cuttings when drilled out
and allows running of multiple plugs to isolate a series of zones, reducing rig time and the number of operations required to fracture multiple zones in the same well.
• Composite construction and lack of wrought metal parts (such as brass
or steel) save time by allowing quick drillout with conventional tri-cone or junk-mill bits and result in lightweight cuttings that lift easily and minimize plugging of surface equipment.

Features, Advantages and Benefits • FracGuard Shorty plugs are half the length of the conventional plug with temperature rating to 250°F (121°C) and pressure rating up to 6,000 to 7,500 psi (413 to 516 bar).
• These plugs hold full differential pressure from above, allowing flow through the mandrel from below.
• The tool’s beveled bottom prevents the body from spinning, decreasing drillout time.
• The FracGuard Shorty design permits multiple plugs to be run, isolating a series of zones, and also enables underbalanced drillout of multiple plugs, protecting sensitive formations.
• The plug allows backflow through the body for equalization or production. • The tool’s shorter design minimizes the amount of debris in the well and its lightweight cuttings lift easily, reducing the risk of surface equipment plugging.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
FracGuard® Composite Setting Sleeve for Composite Plugs Weatherford’s FracGuard composite setting sleeve for composite plugs is used to allow perforation stimulation above the composite plug to proceed simultaneously as wireline setting tools are pulled from the well. The sleeve remains downhole with the composite plug, effectively reducing the overall OD of the remaining wireline assembly. This advantage over conventional steel sleeves allows pumping of perforation ball sealers past the wireline setting assembly as it is retrieved from the well when continuous stimulation is wanted. Currently the only setting sleeve on the market that is made of composite material, it is easily and quickly drilled out.
Applications • Multiple-zone perforate/fracture stimulations • Continuous fracturing applications
Features, Advantages and Benefits • Because the setting sleeve remains downhole after the composite
plug is set, the OD of the wireline assembly is greatly reduced. This advantage allows simultaneous retrieval of the wireline assembly while pumping perforation ball sealers. The end benefit is elimination of the nonproductive time spent pulling large-OD steel sleeves from the well before stimulation.
• Leaving the composite sleeve in the hole reduces the chance of sticking the setting assembly and, in a plug-and-shoot operation, the perforating guns as well.
• The composite material is strong enough to withstand plug setting forces
and saves time by allowing quick drillout with conventional tri-cone bits or junk mills. The composite material also results in lightweight cuttings that lift easily and minimize plugging of surface equipment.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
FracGuard® Convertible Bridge/Frac Plug Weatherford’s FracGuard convertible bridge/frac plug combines the pressure-control design of a bridge plug with the flowback capability of a frac plug, all in one tool. It operates as a bridge plug when set so that pressure above the plug can be reduced to perform the next perforate-and-stimulate operation, limiting the need for use of an expensive grease-injection head for pressure control. The unique valve assembly enclosed within the plug allows the operator to convert to a frac plug before or during the next fracturing operation without intervention. This patentpending two-in-one capability is a unique advantage, available only with this tool.
Applications • Multiple-zone fracture stimulation completions
Features, Advantages and Benefits • Convertible construction offers the advantage of a bridge plug. The plug is run and set as a bridge plug, allowing complete pressure control above the plug during perforating in stack-and-frac operations.
• Convertible construction also allows for pressure control when this tool is run as a kill plug, eliminating the need
for pressure control while tripping in to drillout. The plug can be converted before drilling so that pressure under the plug can be reduced, limiting the need for expensive snubbing equipment and other pressure-control devices.
• Convertible construction also offers the advantage of a frac plug. The plug converts on demand to a top-check
ball-frac plug so that frac operations and subsequent flowback through the plug can occur without the need for immediate plug drillout. This advantage accelerates production readiness of the well.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
FracGuard® Dual-Check Pumpdown Roller Frac Plug Weatherford’s FracGuard dual-check pumpdown roller frac plug ensures isolation integrity and saves rig time in horizontal applications. This plug is designed for multiple-zone fracture stimulation completions, especially in extended-reach horizontal and highly deviated wells, where the plug-andgun assembly is delivered by pumping fluids into the well. The roller frac plug features a bottom-mounted check valve so that a negative pressure check can be conducted to verify the integrity of the plug. Should the pressure test fail or the perforation gun not fire, the bottom check valve also allows pumping through the plug to deliver a second plug-and-gun assembly without having to remove the first plug. The upper check valve is activated when a check ball is dropped from the surface, preventing flow from above the plug. No other tool incorporates this unique pumpthrough feature. This plug also offers an upper check ball, dropped from the surface, as in a conventional top-ball frac plug, allowing pressure containment from above when needed for fracturing an upper zone.
Applications • Multiple-zone fracture stimulation completions, especially in extendedreach horizontal and highly deviated wells
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The check valve on the bottom of the plug prevents fluid from flowing
upward through the plug while allowing fluid to be pumped through from above. With this design, a negative pressure test can be conducted so that plug integrity can be verified before fracturing operations begin.
• The roller/wiper system creates a piston effect that uses pump pressure
to convey the plug and its setting tool along with perforating guns, which allows plugging and shooting the well in the same trip for greater efficiency.
• In the event of a primary plug or gun failure, the lower check valve allows pumping a second plug-and-gun assembly into place without removing the first plug and without running coiled tubing or jointed pipe. With this flow-through capability, the second trip can be run as quickly as the first trip, saving rig time and averting the need and expense of alternative equipment, such as e-coil, coiled tubing, or wireline tractors.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
FracGuard® High-Flowback Frac Plug Weatherford’s FracGuard high-flowback frac plug ensures maximum gas production. Conventional composite frac plugs can erode during highvolume flowback situations. The debris from the erosion can cause plugs farther up the well to clog, restricting or blocking flow. The FracGuard highflowback frac plug features a large bore that provides a 91 percent greater flow capability than through conventional frac plugs. An aluminum insert in the bottom of the flow passage resists erosion by frac sand during flowback operations. Together, these two features ensure maximum gas production from the well without the need for immediate drillout of the plug and eliminate the need for intervention with a service rig to restore flow rates in response to erosion-debris clogging.
Applications • Multiple-zone fracture stimulation completions in gas wells
Features, Advantages and Benefits • Large flow passage allows increased gas production flow rates through
the plug and maintains maximum gas production rates without requiring immediate plug drillout.
• Small aluminum insert in the bottom of the flow passage of the plug
prevents erosion of the composite material that can clog plugs farther up the well. This advantage eliminates the nonproductive time and added expense of intervention operations.
• The composite body of the plug can be drilled as quickly as a standard composite plug, saving the additional rig time required for drilling out metal-body plugs.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
FracGuard® Pumpdown Composite Plug Weatherford’s FracGuard pumpdown composite plug is run on standard wireline into highly deviated or horizontal wells, where e-coil or standard coiled tubing would typically be required. The ability to run this plug on wireline, assisted by pump pressure, significantly accelerates operations, reduces costly rig time and eliminates the need for expensive wireline tractors. In addition, the pumpdown assembly can be configured with perforating guns above the setting tool so that the plug can be set and one or more zones perforated in one trip, reducing rig time. The system pushes the plug into horizontal sections using pump pressure on wireline. Pump rates of 6 to 12 bbl/min carry the plug and setting tools to target before setting. The plug runs at conventional wireline speeds in straight-hole sections and the patent-pending roller system reduces runin friction on wireline in both straight and horizontal sections. The wiper system creates a pressure drop across the front of the plug, which carries the assembly into horizontal sections with low-pump rate.
Applications • Multiple-zone fracture stimulation completions, especially in extendedreach horizontal and highly deviated wells
• Medium- to high-pressure clear-water fracturing applications
Features, Advantages and Benefits • Drag-reducing design allows the plug to be run on wireline, accelerating operations, reducing rig time, and eliminating the need for expensive wireline tractors.
• The wiper system creates a pressure differential across the top of the
plug, which carries the assembly into horizontal sections with low-pump rate. This capability removes the time and costs associated with e-coil, coiled tubing, and wireline tractors.
• Jet ports above and below the wiper ring wash away debris ahead of the plug and create fluid bypass to accelerate tripping in the hole. The jet ports aid in running the plug past sand bridges and debris in horizontal sections, reducing the likelihood of premature plug setting and sticking.
• The roller/wiper system makes single-trip plugging and perforating
possible by conveying perforating guns above the plug, enhancing operational efficiency.
• The roller system also allows for standoff for the composite plug when
running on coiled tubing in horizontal applications. This capability allows for a reduction in friction forces and limits damage to the plug. A hydraulic setting tool can be used to initiate setting of the plug, eliminating the need for e-coil.
• The pumpdown composite plug is rapidly milled out with conventional milling or drilling tools on coiled tubing or jointed pipe.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
FracGuard® Sand Biter™ Plug Weatherford’s Sand Biter plug is designed to accelerate composite plug drillout in sand. Under normal composite plug drillout, the remnants of the composite plug fall to the top of the next plug downhole. The bevel on the bottom guide locks to the next plug, preventing rotation during drillout. In certain applications, however, underdisplaced frac sand accumulates below, and the plug remnants rest on the sand. Drilling spins the remnants, impeding drillout. The specialized biting-tooth profile on the muleshoe bottom of the Sand Biter plug, however, bites into the sand, preventing the spinning action and allowing drillout to proceed more quickly and easily. The Sand Biter plug is an adaptation of Weatherford’s proven composite plug. The biting-tooth profile can be incorporated on all FracGuard plugs.
Applications • Multiple-zone fracturing jobs in which a large amount of sand is left in the wellbore due to underdisplaced sand fracturing.
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The biting-tooth design on the muleshoe bottom of the plug grips
plug drillout remnants to prevent them from spinning during drillout. This advantage saves rig time by accelerating and simplifying drillout, especially in environments of high-sand flowback.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
FracGuard® Slim-OD Bridge and Frac Plugs Weatherford’s FracGuard slim-OD plugs allow greater fluid bypass as they are run in the hole to double or even triple the speed of running a conventional plug. The smaller OD leaves a bypass area around the plugs that is 63 percent greater than that for conventional frac plugs. With this advantage, these plugs can be run on wireline at speeds up to 300 ft (90 m) per minute compared to normal running speeds of conventional composite plugs of about 100 ft (30 m) per minute. In spite of the smaller OD, the plug maintains the conventional pressure rating.
Applications • Multiple-zone fracture stimulation completions in deep wells
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The smaller OD of this plug significantly reduces the time required to run and set plugs, reducing costs associated with wireline service time and rig time.

FracGuard® Surface Pipe Cementing Plug Weatherford’s FracGuard surface pipe cementing plug speeds remedial cementing without the use of drillpipe. Rather than using conventional cast-iron cement retainers, which can contaminate the open hole below on drillout, the cementing plug incorporates a flapper valve in the bottom of the composite plug. The slurry is pumped directly down the surface pipe, and a wiper plug lands on top of the composite plug. This design also eliminates the waiting time for cement to cure when a retrievable packer and drillpipe are used. As a composite plug, the surface pipe cementing plug then can be drilled out in about half the time of a conventional cast-iron cement retainer.
Applications • Remedial cementing operations on shallow surface casing
Features, Advantages and Benefits • No drillpipe is required for
remedial cementing, reducing the number of steps needed to achieve a remedial cementing squeeze job.
• Composite material reduces
the amount of openhole contamination from plug drillout debris, averting debrisassociated difficulties in subsequent operations.
• Composite construction is much Plug is set on wireline.

BRS Bit-Release Sub Weatherford’s BRS bit-release sub is activated by pump pressure to drop the drill bit from the tubing string after the drillout run. The bit is released when a ball is dropped into the lower sub to create the hydraulic pressure needed to separate from the upper sub. The BRS saves rig time by eliminating the need to pull the drillstring with the bit and run the production string. Only a single trip is needed to clean out and flange up for production. Hundreds of successful deployments have proven the reliability of the BRS.
Applications • Flanged-up completions • Emergency bit release
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The BRS design eliminates work-string rental, reducing drilling costs. • The drill bit is released only after the valve is actuated, preventing inadvertent release of the bit and another trip.
• The torque, tensile, and compression ratings of the BRS exceed those for the tubing, providing pressure and torsional integrity during drilling.
• The wireline entry profile on the bottom of the tubing string prevents tools from catching when re-entering the tubing, saving rig time.
• The fishing neck on the lower sub simplifies bit retrieval, saving rig time. • The BRS provides the full tubing ID after disconnection, enabling the maximum flow rate.
Options • An optional drillpipe float valve can be connected to the lower sub to prevent wellbore fluids from entering the tubing string.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
HBP Hydro-Mechanical Bridge Plug Weatherford’s HBP hydro-mechanical bridge plug is a drillable, highpressure plug run on tubing or drillpipe to isolate the lower part of a wellbore. Hydraulic pressure and tubing tension set the plug. A built-in hydraulic setting tool in the top of the plug sets the top slips. Tubing tension combined with the pressure is applied to complete the setting. Then the tool automatically shears off for retrieval from the well. Alternatively, right rotation can release the tubing.
Applications • Deviated and horizontal wells • Temporary and permanent plugging • Abandonment
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The compact design enables use in deviated wells. • The full-circle slips provide a large contact area to minimize casing damage.
• The expanding full-circle rings support the plug to prevent element extrusion.
• The shear or rotational release provides options for releasing the plug after deployment.
• Construction with drillable materials enables the plug to be milled or drilled out to save the time and expense of retrieval.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
HM-1 Bridge Plug Weatherford’s HM-1 bridge plug is a permanent cast-iron plug set with hydraulic pressure and mechanical pull to isolate the lower part of a wellbore. The plug uses a setting tool. Changing the setting sleeve enables one tool to be used for 4 1/2- through 5 1/2-in. (114.3- through 139.7-mm) casing. Right rotation of the tool releases the plug.
Applications • Squeeze cementing • Fracturing • Temporary and permanent zonal isolation • Well abandonment
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The compact design enables use in deviated wells. • One-piece slips eliminate the risk of premature setting when running in Setting Tool
the hole, avoiding the difficulty and expense of plug retrieval and resetting.
• Hydraulic pressure combined with mechanical pull to set the plug
ensures that the setting tool releases and prevents downhole tool loss.
• The right rotation of the setting tool to release the plug differs from the left rotation to set it, preventing inadvertent, costly errors.
• Construction with drillable materials enables the plug to be milled or drilled out to save the time and expense of retrieval.
Options • High- and medium-pressure plugs are available in most sizes.

Bridge Plugs and Cement Retainers
HM-2 Bridge Plug Weatherford’s HM-2 bridge plug is a permanent high-pressure cast-iron plug set with hydraulic pressure and mechanical pull to isolate the lower part of a wellbore. The plug uses an efficient built-in setting tool. Right rotation of the tool releases the plug. The standard packing element is rated at 300°F (149°C).
Applications • High-pressure environments • Deviated wellbores • Squeeze cementing • Fracturing • Temporary and permanent zonal isolation • Well abandonment
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The field-proven compact design enables use in deviated wells. • One-piece slips eliminate the risk of premature setting when running in the hole, avoiding the difficulty and expense of plug retrieval and resetting.
Options • Packing elements rated at temperatures above 300°F (149°C) are available.

Retrievable Service Packers
HD Compression-Set Retrievable Service Packer Weatherford’s HD compression-set retrievable service packer isolates the annulus from the production conduit for general service. The packer can be run with a mechanically set bridge plug to straddle intervals. The internal bypass provides circulation around the packer and faster trips with less swabbing. Hydraulically operated upper hold-down buttons anchor the packer against high differential pressure from below. Backup rings on all O-rings provide reliable sealing at high temperatures and pressures. An internal unloader enables circulation below the buttons, easing packer retrieval.
Applications • General service • Squeeze cementing • Testing and treating • Cased-hole production testing
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The carbide slip and buttons improve durability and enable setting in high-grade casing.
• A one-quarter turn sets the packer, and a pickup unsets it, simplifying operation on the rig.
• The large-diameter hold-down buttons help protect against casing damage.
• The heavy-duty mandrel supports high hang-off weights, and its full bore enables the easy passage of wireline tools and maximum pump rates.
Options • The packer is available with a left-turn set, automatic release jay and other elastomers for hostile environments.

Retrievable Service Packers
HDL Compression-Set Retrievable Packer Weatherford’s HDL compression-set service packer is a modified version of Weatherford’s longstanding HD service packer. The HDL packer’s setting stroke is longer to provide easier opening of the unloader valve when setting the packer. By preventing disturbance of the lower slip and drag block assembly, this feature helps to eliminate the risk of unsetting the packer. The HDL packer was specifically designed for total core penetration (TCP) and drillstem testing applications which often require setting the packer, followed by opening the unloader valve to circulate fluids. The HDL packer sets with a quarter-turn rotation and slack-off weight. Standard drag blocks, lower slips, and holddown buttons are equipped with carbide inserts for extra gripping ability. The hydraulically operated holddown buttons anchor the packer during operations, creating highpressure differential from below the packer. The packer has an integral, internal unloader valve that allows for equalization of pressure or for circulation below the packer before the tool is unset. The unloader valve also enables circulation around the holddown body, making it possible to remove debris which would otherwise interfere with retrieval. The capability to bypass through the valve and packer allows for faster trip times with less swabbing. The HDL packer is also well-suited to function as a TCP “shoot and pull” or drillstem test packer. Its long stroke allows for opening the unloader without unsetting the packer. All internal threads on the mandrel are high-strength, stub-acme threads. Interchangeable end subs are available to easily switch from tubing to drillpipe threads.
Applications • TCP operations • Drillstem testing • Casing production testing • Squeeze cementing
Features, Advantages and Benefits • A one-quarter turn sets the packer, and a pickup unsets it, decreasing trip time while providing operational time and cost savings.
• The automatic jay mechanism is standard, simplifying operations and reducing rig time.
• The HDL packer’s heavy-duty mandrel supports high-tensile loads, enabling heavy strings to hang from the packer.
• The packer’s field-proven carbide slips, buttons, and drag blocks are standard and provide long service life.

Retrievable Service Packers
Stradaset II Compression-Set Packer Weatherford’s Stradaset II compression-set packer is a straddle assembly that isolates and selectively stimulates and tests multiple intervals and perforations in a single run. The interval spacing is adjustable to any length to a minimum of 12 in. (304.8 mm). The packer is usually run with a fluidcontrol valve and retrievable equalizing standing valve. The assembly has two packing-element sets to seal the top and bottom of the interval effectively.
Applications • Perforation cleanout • Selective acidizing and stimulation
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The standard tubing connections enable hydraulic tong makeup and breakout to save rig time.
• The internal bypass across both element sets enables fluids to equalize quickly and reduces the swabbing effect during run-in and retrieval for faster running.
• A one-quarter turn initially sets the packer, a pickup unsets it, and a slackoff resets it, simplifying operation over long intervals.
• The hydraulic hold-down pistons help to secure the packer in place, preventing pressure differential from unsetting it.
• The three-element packing systems on the interval top and bottom help to ensure a correct setting and packoff.
• Compressive forces on the booster sleeve between the sealing elements expand the elements radially outward to engage the casing, reducing the packoff force required.
• The adjustable spacing enables the isolation of short perforated intervals to ensure that all the perforations accept stimulation fluids.
• The full-bore mandrel enables a maximum flow rate from the well. • The manual jay mechanism enables repositioning without pipe rotation. • The simple design with few components to disassemble and reassemble makes the packer easy and economical to redress.

ARM Selective-Treating Packer Weatherford’s ARM selective-treating packer is set by compression to isolate perforations for acid, chemical, and fracture treatments. The packer is run primarily on coiled tubing and can also be run with jointed tubing. A port enables wellbore fluids to bypass into the annulus while the packer is run to treating depth. The packer is set by moving the tubing up and down and then by applying moderate tubing compression. An internal equalizing valve provides easy packer release and enables the packer to be set multiple times. The bypass port is permanently closed and locked on the first packer setting. Before the packer can be moved or retrieved, the treating fluids and pressure captured between the elements are equalized with the casing below.
Applications • Coiled or jointed tubing • Selective perforation acidizing, fracturing, and chemical treatments • Formation straddling and testing
Features, Advantages and Benefits • Straddle spacing is easily adjustable in the field in 3-ft (1-m) lengths, enabling the treatment of zones with varying thicknesses.
• The internal fluid-bypass port enables the annulus to fill while running to depth, reducing running time.
• The packer setting and releasing procedures require no tubing rotation, saving rig time.
• The top element provides reverse circulation while the packer is set, and the bottom element assists in perforation flowback and cleanup before the packer is released.
• The high-tensile-strength connections between the elements enable high treatment pressures with minimal tubing compression.
• The packer reduces tri-axial stresses on the low end of the tubing string to reduce deformation and improve durability.
• The compact design maximizes the straddle spacing length in the lubricator, enabling large treatment volumes.
• Treating fluids are contained between the elements until the packer is
released to maximize the treatment effectiveness in the selected zone.

Tubing Test Valve Weatherford’s tubing test valve is a field-proven, fluid-control flapper valve for high-pressure applications, such as testing tubing pressure, isolating a formation, and acidizing perforations. The valve can be used with a packer set by tension or compression. The valve is open during running in the hole to enable fluid to fill the tubing. Applying pressure to the tubing string closes the valve at any depth for pressure testing or other applications.
Applications • Tubing-pressure testing • Washing and acidizing perforations • Temporary bridge plugging and formation isolation
Features, Advantages and Benefits • An easy quarter-left turn and set-down open the flapper, and a straight pull closes it.

Series 8000 Casing Scraper Weatherford’s 8000 series casing scraper removes cement and mud sheath, scale, rust and other foreign matter from the casing wall during bit runs. The scraper smoothes the casing wall, preparing it for running and setting production packers and squeeze tools. The scraper has six blades arranged to provide the maximum cutting surface for vertical and rotational scraping.
Applications • Cleanout bit runs • Casing maintenance before running a packer
Features, Advantages and Benefits • The six-blade design provides 360° casing coverage for superior scraping.
• The one-piece retainer secures the blades. • The splined two-piece body provides maximum blade retention. • The rugged cast and heat-treated blades provide a long service life. • While scraping the casing wall, the blades act as casing drift to ensure that tools can be run through the casing without sticking.
• The spring-loaded setting scrapes multiple-weight casing strings in a single trip, saving rig time.
• The rugged design requires minimal maintenance, saving rig time and cost.
