Overcoming your world by Pastor Chris

Oyakhilome PhD Back in the Old Testament we find from the book of Genesis we find that man sinned against God and lost the estate. He lost his peace and fellowship with God. That continued for a long time. From time to time God had to open up a fellowship by covenant with anyone whom He had chosen and if they walked in the light of that covenant God blessed them. Later on He gave the children of Israel a Law. The Bible tells us that the law of God was perfect. The law was spiritual and it self was holy but it couldn’t make anything perfect and so God found fault with it. Even though it was perfect, it couldn’t make anything perfect. The law was necessary because it helped God’s chosen people to overcome the world of their time and environment, disease sickness and poverty and so on and so forth. Exo 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. God was going to be their healer if they would diligently harken to the voice of the Lord. This was going to make them different from the rest of the world. Others will be subject to sickness, poverty, all kinds of negative problems. His own people will be separated if they would harken to His voice and keep His commandments. Everything that they will put their hands into will be blessed. Why did God do this? Why didn’t everybody will go out and be blessed without doing this? Because God said something to Adam before He sinned before God. Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: The man ate of it. He and his wife. What did God say? God asked what have you done? The man said “It’s the woman you gave me that deceived me.” Then God asked the woman “Woman, what have you done?”and the woman said “It’s the serpent that deceived me”. Then God had no dialogue with the serpent. God said “Because you have done this cursed is the earth for your sake. Out your sweat you eat bread until you return to dust.” Trouble came into the world. Sin brought death into the world. God didn’t bring death to the world; sin brought death into the world. Rom 5:12-14 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (13) (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. (14) Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. It says because of one man, sin entered into the world. Then he says sin is not imputed when there is no law. Before the law was given there was sin in the world but God didn’t count any sin against all those people who sinned – so we had a dispensation of conscience. However, there was sin in the world. God couldn’t count it against them because there was no law. Nevertheless, death ruled like a king over the people. Even though sin was not counted against them the consequences of sin dominated against them. From Adam to Moses. Death ruled even over those who hadn’t sinned in the same way Adam had sinned. Death reigned, death governed everything. Failure came into the created which had been perfect. When God was through, He said everything was good. Now there was death. Right from the day a child is born, death sets in. He doesn’t get younger and

younger and younger but older. So the journey is from the womb to the tomb. The very reason that all the things get old. Things don’t age in heaven. Everything on earth ages over time. Death set in. God gave the law of Moses to help them overcome death. Sin was that which was committed. Death was that which came as a resulted of sin. Death reigned as a god. It produced failure lack poverty and aging. Death is more than that. Death is a spirit. The law made nothing perfect. The law tried. God said “Life will become beautiful if only you would obey my law.” They began to try. The law was to make them more perfect and to make them live a better life than Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The law was to lift up a better life. Exo 6:3 And I appearedH7200 untoH413 Abraham,H85 untoH413 Isaac,H3327 and untoH413 Jacob,H3290 by the name of GodH410 Almighty,[El Shaddai]H7706 but by my nameH8034 JEHOVAHH3068 was I notH3808 knownH3045 to them. God said to Moses, “Abraham knew me as El Shaddai, but you are going to know me better. I am Jehovah, the covenant God.” Ok. Let’s look at this- Paul is speaking Rom 7:7-8 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. (8) But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. He said you cannot impute sin without the law, even though sin was present. You can’t count it against them. Law is not sin. I cannot know what sin is without the law. I cannot know the sinfulness of my thoughts, motives and actions without the law. So sinful nature of my actions were brought to light through the prohibitions of the law. So where there is no law – there is no sin. Then he says:: Rom 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. What is he talking about? He says that he was alive without the law onece. When the commandment came - sin revived. He didn’t say “sin came” but he said “sin revived”. And he died. Now, when was he alive and when did he die? Before the age of accountability – before he was given the law or understood the law. He was alive without the law. Yet when the commandment came sin revived. Sin was in his nature – it only revived. You don’t revive something that wasn’t in there before. It was there. With the law – came the knowledge of sin – and with the knowledge of sin came condemnation. Rom 7:10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. The commandment or the law was ordained to life. The man knew it. The purpose of the commandment was to give life. Death was already reigning. God gave his people commandments to give them life. It was supposed to give life – but it produced death. Rom 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. For sin – he’s talking about the sinful nature. The sin took advantage of the law :: and killed me. Now how did death come? Rom 7:12-13 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. (13) Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might

appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. He says “The commandment is holy, good and right. Then if the law which is good, right and holy has made death to me? Or that law which is good, right and holy killed me? No! By no means. God forbid. It was sin that did it. By using what is good, sin brought death to me in order that its true nature as sin might be revealed.” In other words it was sin that produce death in me through the holy law, in order that sin might be shown as sin (or to be known for what it is). Man cannot know the sin but by the holy law. Sin produced death in man. The commandment or the law brought sin to light. Let’s proceed:: Rom 7:14-15 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. (15) For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. He says that the law is spiritual but I am fleshly. Sold as a slave to sin. He says “what I would rather do, I find myself I can’t do it. And what I don’t want to do, that I find myself doing.” Have you experienced this in your life? You want to do something good but you find that you can’t do it. Then there’s something you want to stop doing and you find yourself doing it. He’s talking about sin.. Rom 7:16-17 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. (17) Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. Ok.. let me read that to you in the Good News Bible:: Rom 7:16-17 Since what I do is what I don't want to do, this shows that I agree that the Law is right. (17) So I am not really the one who does this thing; rather it is the sin that lives in me. Ok.. So that was for the one who understandeth not King James’ English !!! Ok..?? let’s move on.. Let me read further from the Good News Bible Rom 7:18-21 I know that good does not live in me---that is, in my human nature. For even though the desire to do good is in me, I am not able to do it. (19) I don't do the good I want to do; instead, I do the evil that I do not want to do. (20) If I do what I don't want to do, this means that I am no longer the one who does it; instead, it is the sin that lives in me. (21) So I find that this law is at work: when I want to do what is good, what is evil is the only choice I have. Let’s look at the King James’ version Rom 7:18-21 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. (19) For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. (20) Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. (21) I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. He says I know that in me dwells no good thing. For will is present with me. That means I’m willing, but I find myself not doing it. For the good that I would, I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. It means the good things I would rather do I do not and the evil which I would not do that I do. Then he says, now if I do something that I don’t want to do, it’s no more I that do it. It is the sin that dwells in me that does it. Notice he didn’t say that the sin makes him do it, instead he said sin does it.

It’s very very important here. Paul says I find then a law, when I want to do something good, something in me keeps me from doing what I know is right. Now don’t miss it here:: Rom 7:22-23 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: (23) But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. Did you notice that? Then he says Rom 7:24-25 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? (25) I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. This is important. Paul says I find a law. When I do good evil is present in me. He says I find a law working in my members of my body bringing me into captivity. Then he cried out wretched man I am. Who shall deliver me? He says I’m in trouble. I really want to do good and what is right. Who is he talking about? He’s talking about the Jewish man living in the Law of Moses. Read from the beginning from the 7th chapter of Romans. Paul is letting them know that the law of Moses could not deliver them. Then he presents a picture of a man under the law. I know the law of God he says. I wanna do it, but while I’m trying to do it I’m in captivity. Something is subduing me. Something is causing me to do that which I don’t want to do. So I find myself breaking the law eventhough I don’t wanna break the law of God. He says there’s another law of sin working in me, bringing me into captivity. Wretched man I am. I need deliverance. You see that now? He said Who shall deliver me? What am I going to do? Then he says I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; although my selfish desires makes me serve the law of sin. I want you to be very alert on this area now. Rom 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (2) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Did you hear that? For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Meaning the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of Moses. You’d have to understand chapter 7 in order to understand chapter 8. Without that you’ll go mad. This is one area that like you know some people say when someone they knew read the book of Revelation and turned mad. I’ll tell you if you read Romans 8 before Romans 7, you need not to go to the book of Revelation to turn mad.. Let’s look at what Paul is saying here regarding the law. Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. He’s referring to the Law of Moses here. Let’s got to verse 21:: Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. Here can this law which he refers to as “then I find a law” be the law of Moses?? Ok.. let’s see..

Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: Law of God is the law given to Moses. Let’s go down Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. This law which he refers to as “But I see another law in my members, warring …” is the same law as in Romans 7:21 where he says “I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me” This “another law” in verse 23 is same as “a law” in verse 21. Then in the same verse 23 he says “… warring against the law of my mind…” Now what is this law of my mind? Is this the same thing or another one which is apart from the law of Moses and “a law” & “another law”. Then he says “this law of my mind has brought me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members”. Now what is this law of sin? Is this a new law that is different from law of Moses, “a law” which is “another law”, “law of my mind” ?? Let’s look at this This another law is warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin.. The “law of my mind” and “the law of sin” cannot be the same because this law is warring against the law of my mind and bringing me to captivity. In other words it was against the law that I have in my mind that I’ve endorsed and accepted and delivers me into captivity to the law of sin. What is he calling the law of sin? What is he talking about I find another law?? Let’s got to verse 25 Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. He says with the mind I serve the law of God>> That means that “law of God” was what he referred to as the “law in my mind” Warring against the law of my mind.. that law that I have in my mind, Because your mind doesn’t make a law but I got this law in my mind. So he says with my mind I serve the law of God. That law of God is the law of Moses. Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. Now this law is not the law given. That is a principle. I find a principle here >> when I want to do good, evil is present with me. He’s not talking about the written law here. He’s talking about the principle. Something that governs you. Something that runs your life. This thing I find myself troubling my life. There’s this law warring against the law of my mind and bringing me to captivity. What law? Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. This law works in my body he says. He see another law in his members warring against the law of his mind and bringing him to captivity to the law of sin >> which is in his members. Therefore the law which is in his members is called the law of sin. So this is another law. Are you following this? Is this clear to you? Ok.. let’s go further..

Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. So it’s with the flesh that you serve the law of sin. So the “law of sin” cannot be the “law of God” which is also known as the “law of Moses”. Is that well understood? Now go to the next verse Rom 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (2) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Now that’s the same law that he talked about in Romans 7:23. He already called it a name! He called it the law of sin.

The law of Moses couldn’t make the man free. The law was ordained to life. It should have made the man free, but didn’t make the man free. He tried to obey the law but couldn’t go through. He was blessed. The rich young ruler came to Jesus and asked him “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?” and Jesus replied “Well you know the commandments” and the man said “I’ve done all these”. All the commandments. Now you can see why he was so so rich! The bible says if you obey all the commandments you’ll be blessed. He was blessed with all things. Yet he still knew there was something he is missing. He knew eternal life was different. Jesus said “Go sell everything and come follow me” and the man said “Oh.. boy! Sell everything?” The man was sad and couldn’t do that. Eventhough you were blessed materially and financially, you still understood something was missing in your life. You are still wasn’t a victor in life. Being a victor is not having cars and houses and all that. Victor is handling life like a champion. Reigning over the world. The law couldn’t do that. That’s the same thing. Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. From Romans 5 you understand that death came with sin. So with everything that connected with man death touched it. Whether it’s finances, health or anything. Dead bank accounts etc. When you receive Jesus into your life, you are a new man. You are a new creation. You function by another law. Not the law that was working in that man’s body you function by another law. This law has made you free from the law of sin and death. Rom 8:3-4 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: (4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. What the law of Moses couldn’t do the Jesus Christ has done it. Now you are masters of over the world. That’s why you are not subject to disease and sickness. The rest of the world maybe subject to it but the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made you free from the law of sin and death. You don’t need to function in the law of sin and death! When you are 60 don’t say I can’t clench my fist, I have back pain, I’ve pain in my knees.. No way. How can you say that? You don’t function after the flesh. You walk after the spirit. You don’t function after what you feel, you function after what the word of God says. You are what God says you are not what the doctor says you are. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made you free from the law of sin and death! The bible says the law was weak through the flesh. Why? It was given to a man of the flesh or a sense knowledge man.

The law couldn’t perform. It should’ve performed but it couldn’t. Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. This is the point. The law is spiritual but you were carnal, fleshly walked by the flesh before you were born again. It’s powerless. But Glory to God that you are born again. 2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. If you are born again you are spiritual. No more carnal. The law is spiritual and now that you are born again you are spiritual. 1Co 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Jesus Christ is a life giving Spirit. There’s no death in him. Life oozes out of him. Col 1:27 …. Christ in you, the hope of glory: 1Jn 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. You are from God. You hail from God. You have already overcome them because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Refused to be intimidated by demons. Let me tell you. If you were ever attacked by sickness. Don’t plead, beg or negotiate with the devil. Just tell Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Here listen. He’s not talking about like losing your chains from the law of sin and death. It’s not deliverance. Deliverance is that when you remove the chains of a man and let him go. Here it’s different. What do you mean by dust free? The laptop is dust free. That does not mean that the laptop was delivered from dust. When you say “I did it debt free”. That doesn’t mean that you were in debt and now you are set free from the bank. NO! You weren’t owing anything and that laptop had no dust at all. It means it’s not connected with dust. It’s not connected with debt. When that law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus came to me – it made me a new man. I’m free of the law of sin and death. I am a new creation. Sin free. No sin at all. I know who I am. Hallelujah. It’s like this:: Just because someone stole, that doesn’t necessarily make him a thief. However, a thief whether he has stolen or not – he’ll definitely steal. That’s his nature. When a child is born into this world, whether the child has committed sin or not, that child is a sinner. The sinful nature is in that child. He’ll commit sin. So it’s no use making the child to obey a righteous law. The law will only make a thief not steal. It doesn’t make him to be a righteous man. Unless that child is born again, he’s not a new creation. That’s why a man must be born again. Joh 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Jesus said “Cheer up! I have overcome the world.” Jesus overcame the world for us to overcome our world. He has defeated Satan, but that doesn’t stop demons from coming around you and trying to play some tricks on you. You have to walk on serpents and walk upon scorpions. Luk 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. John the Apostle gives the same picture

1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Anything that is born of God, overcomes the world. Then he says this is the victory or the conquering power that makes this happen. It’s our faith. Our faith is the conquering power. The world cannot stand faith filled words. 2Co 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; As the others we need the same spirit of faith. As Moses, Elijah, Elisha, Samson,David, Prophet Samuel. We also believe to speak. It makes no difference where the circumstances are. Who your advisories are. It makes no difference when it comes to the limitations of others. When you come to have the same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak. Keep speaking, I refuse to be poor, I refuse to be sick! Do you understand? I’m walking in prosperity. I’m moving forward, success is mine, victory is mine, the world is mine. There’s no stopping you. There’s an anointing upon you. Glory. Halelujah. Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. You have overcome cancer, HIV, the devil is subject to you. Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. Amen! In all these things we are more than conquerors. Give him praise. Shout the shout of victory. Glory to God. Hallelujah. Glory to God. Amen. Thank God for the salvation in Christ Jesus. The word is working in me. It’s working in my blood, every fibre of my flesh, every cell of my body. I know who I am. Glory to God. Give him praise. Rejoice in his presence. The anointing of the Holy Ghost. Glory to God. Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Glory Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah!! Thank you Lord. Keep speaking faith filled words. What so ever is born of God overcometh the world. Amen. Believe in your future. I see you making progress. Getting stronger by the anointing of the Holy Ghost. Worship him and thank him No heart pain can stand this stuff. No sickness can stand this stuff. The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free. Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.
