OmniScan SX \ MX2 \ OmniPC Training - Overview
The objective of the OmniScan SX\MX2 training program is to enhance the users ability to work at a high level through self-paced instruction. The participant completing the course prior to attending instructor based training or application development will be able to maximize their learning curve. This is achieved by learning the various software features and procedures of the SX\MX2 while demonstrating their use in applications and Olympus products such as the Cobra, Hydroform, WeldRover, and catalog scanners and probes through the training material.
OmniScan SX \ MX2 \ OmniPC Training – V4.1 Update
The OmniScan SX\MX2 instruments, and OmniPC will all benefit from the new features and functionality of MXU 4.1 because it is the same software. The OmniScan SX is a smaller lower cost instrument that comes with all the tools and versatility of the MX2 limited to single probe, single group inspections. Primary benefits of V4.1 are enhanced full screen functionality, new interactive menus, wizard improvements, and elimination of touch screen modes that are explained in detail in the presentations.
OmniScan SX \ MX2 \ OmniPC Training – Overview - Content
The training program consists of 600+ Power Point slides, movies, and step by step procedures demonstrating the various functions of the OmniScan SX\MX2 software with a focus on applications and real world usage. The OmniScan SX\MX2 training program assumes that the participant has been trained in convention UT and has little or no background or training in phased array inspection. The majority of concepts, examples, and procedures throughout the course content can be completed with a single phased array probe and wedge, and any calibration block with a notch or side drilled hole. An IIW block, NAVShips block, or similar is sufficient to reproduce most examples.

Supporting documentation for the training program comes primarily from the MX2 software manuals and the Olympus reference manuals below. Modern phased array systems like the OmniScan SX\MX2 do not require an advanced knowledge of mathematics or acoustic theory and the training program focuses on practical explanations and real world examples for the working inspector. Supporting theory, mathematical formulas, and more advanced PA concepts can be found in the books below available from the Olympus web site.
