Nastar GSM has flexible networking modes: Local Mode MSDE is available in software so that the users can analyze performance data without installation of SQL Server Client/Server Mode
SQL SERVER must be installed at the server rather than at the client. Both the performance data and configuration data are imported into SQL SERVER at the server through TransData. Otherwise the network routine health analysis, the further location for network problems and the performance analysis module cannot normally operate. Case: Some of the cells in Lenjiang (Loudi city, Hunan province) suffer the congestion in the busy hour. The radio maintenance laboratory needs to calculate the real busy hours of each day in certain period and the congestion on the busy hour. Analysis: The daily traffic statistics analysis sums up the busiest hour of the day and the congestion on TCH and SDCCH in this busy hour. Solution: When we applied this analysis to the Lenjiang case from the 10 to 13 of July, we found that the congestion rate was on the high level near the lenjiang weather forecast station area. The analysis results also indicated the TCH congestion exists in the busy hour of the four continuous days. Against this background, we should analyze whether the number of TCH configuration is reasonable or whether the carrier expansion is needed.

Case: Some of the cells have low handover success rate in Lenjiang area (Loudi city, Hunan province). Analysis: The target cell performance measurement can analyze the reason for which the source cell initiates handover to the target cell, the reason that causes handover failure as well. As the map on the right shows, Lenjiang Television University (indicated in green) initiates 58 handover requests to Lenjiang New Century all together, of which 48 requests are successful. The success rate only maintains at 82.76%. The handover failure are due to poor uplink signal strength, downlink signal strength and Lenjiang New Century as better cell. Therefore, it is necessary for us to check whether the power control and handover hysteresis are reasonably set. To obtain configuration information in the attribute list, you can use the Nastar specific feature of the association between site view and data.

How to use received signal level/quality/TA/balance on uplink and downlink to carry out network analysis? Case: The Excel shows the traffic statistics analysis results of Lenjiang at 10 o’clock from 10th to 13th of July. Select one of the rows and the information about six cell indexes are shown in histogram, through which we can diagnose the network troubles. The graphs show that Chengyi cell has low received signal level and troubles in the uplink and downlink balance. Check whether the coverage is too far or not, or the setting of power control is reasonable or not.

Select the traffic statistics index to be displayed in the traffic statistics query result. Set the display color and index value each color stands for. After the setting, the thematic map can be displayed in the site view. Neighbor Analysis
Problem: In Lenjiang area many problems occur during neighbor configuration. It is necessary to optimize the neighbors.
Analysis: Nastar GSM has the feature to search for the unilateral neighbors in the whole network and outputs unilateral neighbor lists. The network optimization engineers judge whether these unilateral neighbors are well configured. They can also use AFP and the comparison between neighbor planning and neighbor configuration to output the results. According to these results, analyze the cells one by one and perform neighbor planning in the site view. After planning, use the final results to update the neighbor lists.
