Project Description
A. Rationale of the Project
Having observed the community and the kind of living of the residents in Brgy. Tabangao, Aplaya, it appealed to our senses that there is a huge problem concerning waste management especially that it is a coastal area. The proper disposal of garbage is indeed of importance and it needs to be emphasized and given much time and attention. While conducting our survey to the families residing in the barangay, we noticed that almost everyone answered „Thrown Anywhere‟ and „in the rip -rap‟ when asked on how they disposed their garbage. The area we visited lacks trash cans and bins for the reason that their wastes are not properly organized and disposed. We decided to choose a project in the field of Ecology to at least lessen the burden of the people in the community. We planned for the betterment of our target area which was made possible by our joint efforts in initiating a clean and green project that spoke out our advocacy. Little by little, with joined hands, we were able to work things out. We provided some cleaning materials and trash cans and labeled them with „Biodegradable‟, „Non -biodegradable‟ and „Recyclables‟ so people will be able to segregate their garbage properly. We started cleaning areas which were surrounded by obstructive and unpleasant grasses and garbage especially the pathways, coastal and non-residential areas. We were also able to inculcate in the minds of the youth the proper way of disposing their garbage and shared them more about our reading skills so as to improve theirs as well as their speed and comprehension. B. Objectives
To initiate a Clean and Green Project in the barangay; To influence the people, particularly the youth, to be environment-friendly; To provide a solution that will somehow reduce their community problems; To speak out our advocacy of a better and improved community; and To beautify the community area and provide cleaning materials for the barangay.

We provided some cleaning materials for the barangay; We cleaned and beautified Barangay Tabangao, Aplaya Batangas by painting some walls, posts and plant boxes to make them look more pleasant; and We taught twenty elementary students from Tabangao Elementayr School (from grades three and four). 3. B. Social Viability
Based on observation, the community necessitates improvement in many aspects. One of these aspects is the ecological aspect of the community to at least lessen the burden of the people in the community. We made a difference with our own simple ways. Little by little, we have accomplished beautifying several areas like MRF, pathways along the barangay hall, plant boxes, and painting of areas not given emphasis. Through the aid and the help of the officials, our project has been really progressive. IV.
Financial Requirement and Resources A. Source of Funds
We provided funds for the cleaning equipment, painting materials and food used in the project. Funds probably came from voluntary contributions of project coordinators and members. Cash contributions from each member were used to finance the activities of the Communi-Teens in Barangay Tabangao, Aplaya.

Assessment of the Project A. Findings
The progress in the environmental aspect of the community was evaluated based on the changes that occurred in the environment after the implementation of the said scheme. The people in the community have been fully equipped to partake in the community development. Of course, the project was successful because we coordinated with the local officials in every move we made. Another necessity of the barangay regarding the proper waste management is the trash cans. Without them, people would go back to throwing their garbage and waste materials anywhere they want. They won‟t be able to
segregate, too. If cleaning materials are present, they won‟t have any excuses at all so we also donated three trash cans.
B. Conclusions
After taking up NSTP, the group Communi-Teens has been aware of the different crises hitting different communities. There are food problems, medical needs, business predicaments, money dilemmas, corruption quandaries, educational hindrances, transportation inconveniences, poverty tribulation and everything else. Even some educated citizens blame the local government for not making solutions for the current problems. And as the saying goes, “If we want change, change must start from us.” From the personal experiences of the group, a member would definitely summarize that the community service is a great help to become a better person. It was a great experience that would totally last a lifetime. Lessons as an individual were discovered, thus achieving the goals that the group really wanted to bring into reality. Most importantly, our ultimate aim was achieved- helping the people in that chosen community. The development plans we implemented enabled the community to be beautified, clean and green. We were so certain that we left something memorable in that barangay as we had a good interaction and relationship with the people there. Our project imposed mainly concerned ecological programs that started a big change in the community. A cleaner, healthier and better community Tabanagao has become after the implementation of the scheme. All coordinators of the group participated and harmonized so as to accomplish the project and have good results. We also coordinated with the barangay officials for assistance and cooperation. We taught the some students of to take care and look after the community when we ‟re already done with the project. We taught them the skill of speed reading as suggested by the principal.

Ma. Jesusa V. Marcial BS Accountancy
Confucius once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” For so many times in our lives, we were wondering of how to change the world. It‟s funny and humiliating at the same time that everyone wants to change the world but no one has ever wanted or in any case, planned, to take the initiative of changing himself first. Every expedition needs a foot ahead of the other. We must at the very least try to move forward by taking one step ahead. Having been engaged in a community project like ours (Ecological Project) really made me a better person than I was. Yes, I am probably proud of being an active and participative member of the “Communi -Teens”. Why, it‟s of great privilege to serve the community even with just those littlest things we‟ve done. I‟m glad that teamwork is present in the implementation of our project. Together, we joined hands to make things work out for the better. Several different activities were made and sure-footedly, not everyone was pleased and delighted. But failures and dilemmas really occur, they are unpreventable. There may be corrective measures whenever crises occur, but they just won‟t make a group a perfect one. Some says we only do these and those for the sake of our NSTP grade. But mind you, we did the project for two reasons- to gain and to lose. It was just like hitting two birds with one stone. We made things neither for our own convenience nor for our own selfish reasons. In fact, we even gave up our comforts just for the sake of the needy community- something we can call selflessness.
In the end, what matters is the community. We may not be able to change everything but at least, we‟ve made a difference - a difference that will later on pave the way for other advocacies yet to come and be heard. Our voice has been heard, our actions made a difference, our patience has become a virtue. We simply abide to be good examples to others so that this accomplished project may serve a simple purpose.

In my own perspective, as a person, I don‟t have any impact on the community so doing such community service was like nonsense to me. Secondly, I thought of it as a boring thing to do because it‟ll b e cleaning then cleaning again. On our first day, we cleaned the area near the barangay hall. During this time, I was able to prove to myself that it was boring. I also wanted to go home by that time because I feel so lazy. Then on our second day, we got to interact with the children as a part of our literacy development project. My group mates taught the children a song and this caught my attention. The lyrics of the song was, “It‟s I, it‟s I, it‟s I who build community...” It made me realize how I can affect the community I‟m living in. It‟s our overall activity on that day which made me realize my impact in my community. I may be a simple person, a single entity, but still I‟m a part of the community. After this day, days of community service was not boring at all. I enjoyed each day. Although the sun‟s shining so bright while we are painting and sweeping, we‟re doing our work with a smile and with big hearts knowing that we‟re indeed helping the community.

On the very first day of our visit in Brgy. Tabangao, Aplaya we, the CommuniTeens, are very excited and glad. It was very overwhelming that we were accepted by the officials of the barangay.Many of us were excited
in
doing
good
plans
for
the
community. We improved and beautified the community by cleaning the surroundings, painting the plantboxesand some areas and many more. We also taught children and that was enjoyable.We worked as one. Even if misunderstandingsoccurredbetween the members, we continued the work and fixed those. I will miss those Saturdays that we‟re together as a group - the laughter and sorrow that I saw in their faces and the “chikahan” of the girls. Even if sometim es I was tired, I just don‟t mind it because I want to help this community. We also solved problems together. Even if there are times that we were few, we made sure that we still do our work. I‟m very happy that I am a CWTS student and I‟m happier that I a m a member of Communi-Teens. With the help of our Almighty God, I pray all the best for the barangay.

Time really is passing in a fast pace. But I really enjoy the experience that I felt on. The Saturdays that we taught children, bonding with them and sharing food with each other are the best experiences of a freshmen college student like me. The Freshmen Days are the most unforgettable experiences that CWTS shared to me. In this, unity and teamwork were made and developed. And I‟m really proud to be a part of Communi-teens as a whole. That was the very best part of being a freshmen college student. Being exposed to the real world meant being aware of what was the scene beyond the campus. I learned to be humble and appreciate of what I have. I learned to be appropriate and respectful, being given the responsibility in mediating between the target community and our CWTS class. I learned to be very patient, both in teaching (especially with the kids) and cleaning the surroundings. I learned that opportunity must not only be for us who are privileged enough to reach college, but for everyone who desires it. I learned that a lot of things may still be improved, and under the constant observation of what we do, we could see what can be done better, what is fit and what is not. I learned that even at this age, I could help in my little ways in making our country a better place for Filipinos. CWTS has taught me that each and every one of us has a role in this world. All the things that are happening are connected with each other. I really hope that I could apply what I learned in CWTS. I really need to have changes to myself for me to be a better person. Being a better person will lead me to a better future. And better future will lead me to a better life. That‟s how simple it is. Next school year, I will no longer have
CWTS but it doesn‟t mean that I will just bury i n oblivion the things that I have learned from it.

It was such an honor to be part of this group, COMMUNI-TEENS, to be one of the CWTS students who were given the chance to help and serve Brgy. Tabangao, Aplaya. At first, I‟m anxious about this project “Get Moving by Going Green”. It is not just a simple thing that we‟re going to work on, but a big one that requires full group unity and cooperation. The first three days of our community service enfolds the literacy/professional development. For me, this is the best part of our project where I certainly enjoyed and was very entertained. The kids were so active in every part of the program that we conducted. They were so glad on our prepared games and exercises wherein we, the communi-teens, join with them. Another part is the reading segment on which I became close with two cute girls, Irizh and Angela. At first, I wasn‟t expecting that these girls would approach me and say, “Ate Clarisse gusto namin , ikaw ang magturo sa amin”. I was astonished and was overwhelmed as they allowed me in guiding them while reading. Our next Saturdays were engaged in the clean-up and painting of plant boxes. As we cleaned the areas, I‟ve noticed that we‟re also sharing different stori es and experiences that lessened the fatigue we are going through. Lastly, I am pleased and delighted as I was able to serve and improve Brgy. Tabangao and its people through this community project.

National
Service
training
program is a requirement to all freshmen students. As a first year student taking Bachelor of Science Major in Associate in Accounting, I decided to take the Civil Welfare Training service, I with my group mates every Saturday, I learned on how to socialize with other people and how to create a harmonious relationship towards other, and I learned on how to become a good citizen of the society and also how to teach the children. This activity also includes how to maintain the cleanliness and beautification of the community assigned to us. It also taught us on how to become patience due to some misunderstanding that arises. Though this program, I explored and experienced all the things that I never encountered in my life. It also taught us on how to serve and help other without any condition. As time passes by, the activities contributed a lot, especially in my personality. I learned on how to create a better communication to people who have position in the community. I felt happy, because I am willing to share my knowledge and abilities to others. And it made us to become responsible individuals. The reason why Civil Welfare Training Service is so essential to us is because it helped us a lot most especially in terms of our personality development.

With the help of Communi-Teens, we started rendering our service in Barangay Tabangao. Whole-heartedly, with helping hands, we contributed money, time and energy to help the community. As one of the Communi-Teens, I am very happy and flattered that they were overwhelmed by us. On the first phase, we‟ve planned to teach grade three elementa ry students, we opened our program by leading a prayer and then by that, we started our program. I am happy because in those simple ways, we gave happiness to every child. In our activity, there is a part that we taught them to read English stories. Then our leader told us that every child can choose whoever he/she wants to be this teacher. Then a little boy came to me. I asked him, “Why did you choose me to be your teacher?” He answered, “Kasi po, mabait kayo.” I smiled. When the little boy was reading, I noticed that he has a poor nutrition and slow reading comprehension. I realized that I am blessed that I have a family that can support me and give all my needs and wants but this little boy, in his young age, he experienced to stop studying and he cannot do what he wants because of poverty. Then I said, “Don‟t worry, God has a big and wonderful plan for us, just keep praying and studying hard to achieve your dream” and I smiled. On our next day of helping the community, we made a clean and green project. We swept the streets and collected garbage. We were all busy and happy in our assigned works. While doing our project,we started to get to know each other more. I am glad that I‟ve reached this point in my life where I became more. I‟ve concluded that this project has improved me more and for that, I want to thank those people who helped in its accomplishment.

It‟s been almost two months since we started our community service in Barangay Tabangao, Aplaya. At first, I thought it would be just easy because all we have to do is just to clean the surroundings and serve the people. But I was wrong- doing a community service is quite hard for students. You need to serve the people in the community properly. You will be exposed to their lifestyles and you should also learn to cope with them. We did many things while we are in the community service. First, we cleaned the surroundings there and maintained the cleanliness of their place. Second,we taught several grades threefour students about some things we have learned before by sharing our talents, skills and some knowledge to them. Third is painting some plant boxes, light postsand walls there to beautify their environment. And lastly, we repainted their MRF there so it would be more pleasing to the eyes. This activity has helped me take the chance of meeting other people and explore the place and be trained to serve my own community in the best I can. I must say that this kind of activity was all so worth it because I also learned many things during our community service. And also, I gained more friends from this activity. It was so enjoyable because helping other people makes me glad and makes me feel that I am a useful person and student, too.

Education from the four corners of the classroom is not enough to satisfy the needs of a student. Activities outside the school are essential for the improvement of a student. Civic Welfare Training Service is one of the best examples of this activity. Volunteers of CWTS improved their physical, emotional, mental

social
attitudes
and
characteristics. Being one of them and being a participant of this kind of activity is such a great experience during my freshman year in college that I will never forget. Giving our help in Barangay Tabangao, Aplaya is a pleasure because the people and the barangay officials were very kind and hospitable. We went there every Saturday morning with smiles on our faces and hearts ready to help the people and the community at all times with the activities that we planned like teaching elementary students, particularly grades three and four of Tabangao Aplaya Elementary School, cleaning different areas, painting several areas in the barangay like the MRF, plant boxes and walls, and planting plants that add beauty to the environment.

In taking our immersion in Barangay Tabagao as a part of our CWTS, I therefore conclude that it was such a nice and great activity. At first, I don‟t think that it was going to be fine but I was wrong. In the different activities that we did in every meeting we had, like cleaning the roads, painting the plant

MRF,
teaching the children and feeding them, I felt happy because as a young person and as a student, I helped in our community and I did things that I never expected I can. These little things that we did made or brought a great help and improvement in the barangay. Even sometimes we experience different problems within, we try our best to make things settled and we see to it that we do a fast action or solution to make things fine. These things made me feel like I‟ve g ot a fulfillment, for me and for this subject that even in these simple things, we made sense and we helped them to have a clean and green community. I also glad that we had good interactions with the different people from the barangay especially with the barangay officials that we met and talked to for the accomplishment of this project. This experience is a totally remarkable one in my life that it will never be forgotten.

Being part of this group is a pleasure to me. We chose Brgy. Tabangao, Aplaya to help them improve their community. The first three weeks, we invited 20 children. We taught them the proper segregation of wastes, proper hygiene. We also provided some reading materials to read infused with good moral lessons. It was fun to bond with the kids remembering our childhood days. After those weeks, we cleaned some of their areas and donated some cleaning materials in their barangay. When others are cleaning the ground, others paint the walls and the plant boxes. While working on those, we have had our talks about our lives, sharing some of our happy and sad moments that made us close to each other. We experienced to have paint in our hands and s hirts but it‟s okay because the stain serves as a proof that for some moment in our lives, we helped a community and became a hero in our own simple way. With the collaboration of our group, Communi-Teens, we have reached our goals with the theme “Get Moving by Going Green”. W ith the help of our dear God, our instructor, family and friends, we finished those weeks gratefully.

Every individual has an ability to serve for others. At first, you would think that it‟s not that easy but then, in the end, you will realize that if you have an ability to communicate, participate,

impossible. At the first time we went Tabangao, I‟ve thought that we will find it difficult to accomplish our mission in their community. Suddenly, as we‟ve got there doing our mission work, I‟ve find it interesting. Camaraderie developed between our group and unity was observed. I felt glad teaching our students most especially when I‟ve distinguished they are voluntarily participating us. They already become a sibling on my part in just a little amount of time we spent together. In spite of the unfavorable weather, doing our aim in helping them in beautifying their community, I felt honored most especially when their captain told us that though they won‟t win in the community contest occur every year, at least, they were capable in participating in that contest with the help of our group. I‟ve also realize that if there‟s a time for us to be back at Tabangao, I‟m proud to say that what I‟ve s een (like the green and yellow paint in the posts) are all part of our tangible project. For me, it‟s not just an activity required in school but an experience that teach you how necessary you are in helping with others.

I‟m admitting that I„m a negative thinker when it comes on socializing to others because I‟m afraid to have a friend who will betray me or be what we call “plastic”. But time passed by and I learned how to mingle with them and I‟m wrong on my first impression. I also thought that we will be having a big problem regarding on our service like the Teach ing Program but I‟m wrong- we were able to teach the children and they are enjoyed our company. And now that we‟re finished, I will miss the children that I‟ve already treated as my younger siblings. So, not just my classmates became my friends but also the children, parents and even the councilor of that Barangay. I‟m glad that I learned many things in this NSTP 102 . I learned how to socialize and mingle to my new meet friends, how to organize and plan, how to paint in a good way, how to be a good leader, and most of all I also enhance my some talents with the help of this service. And now, before my personal reflection end, I just want to say “THANK YOU” to all my classmates in NSTP, the Communi-Teens and even the One Piece Group for being a good friend and to our beloved and respected Professor, Prof. Marvin Moraleja for being a good mentor, brother, professor, friend and parent to all of us. I remember the first day of our CWTS class. That was one cold morning and it was so memorable and fun to remember with. Wondering why? First, I met new people that later on become your new friends.

personalities. I really don‟t know what‟s the true meaning of happiness is. For me, just a simple thing, I smile. I laughed. Even if I hear some corny jokes at the back, they don‟t even fail me to laugh. It‟s nice to know. However, that CWTS would be filled with great opportunities for interaction and involvement with other people. This experience gave me new lessons. Lessons that means realizations to those aspects of
our
life
through
the
things
we
take
part
in.
I learned how to compromise – utilizing the limited resources available in terms agreeable to both sides (target community, and the CWTS class). Being exposed to the real world meant being aware of what was the scene beyond the campus. I learned to be humble and appreciative of what I have. I learned to be appropriate and respectful, being given the responsibility in mediating between the target community and our CWTS class. I learned to be very patient, both in teaching (especially with the kids). I learned that our luxury of knowledge needs to be imparted to those who need it. I learned that opportunity must not only be for us who are privileged enough to reach college, but for everyone who desires it. I learned that a lot of things may still be improved, and under the constant observation of what we do, we could see what can be done better, what is fit and what is not. I learned that things may always not go the way you planned it to be, but you must be able to adapt every time. I learned that even at this age, I could help in my little ways in making
our
country
a
better
place
for
Filipinos.
Now that our CWTS has ended, the day of joy and sudden happiness that every one of us encountered- joy for the successful ending and loneliness to those moments that we‟ve shared together.

My whole experience in CWTS? It was an expensive and timing job as a concerned citizen. You will get up early in the morning to go to school and meet your other classmates. All of these were just the tiring parts. But being a good citizen who helped other people in the needy barangay is the best experience I have had. As they (the community people including the students) learned from us, we also learned so much from them- twice as much as they‟ve had . Being a part of this activity was a great pleasure for us Filipino citizens for we were able to help and to put smiles on their faces. I so love being a part of the Communi-Teens in spite of all the challenges we‟ve been through.

Everything has a room for improvement and development, even a simple living in one‟s area, which can be acquired through tight togetherness and cooperation of the different groups in the society. Youth of today, especially the students, serves as the building blocks in the foundation of a better community from different suggested places. We, the Communi-Teens of Batangas State University, have decided to choose Tabangao, Aplaya, Batangas City as a location for our NSTP project. Tabangao was known for their oil refinery business but their state of living was not that stable. At first glance, we saw children playing at their narrow areas, unorganized segregation of wastes and faded color of their barangay hall, street walls, and plant boxes. But upon seeing their happy faces which showed their warm welcome, our desire to make a change boosted to its top. Every Saturday, we have committed to this worldly doings which also brought happiness to our hearts and souls because once in our lives, we became heroes in our own simple ways. Like a flower that blooms and disperses it ‟s fragrance, like a butterfly that develops from an egg and like a seed that grows stronger and bigger as a tree, Tabangao has become better than ever. Through the help of Communi-Teens, we taught the children to read as their hobbies, showed them the proper waste segregation and painted their barangay hall, street walls and plant boxes. As a result of our team work and the citizens‟ cooperation, we have reached our goals and objectives for Barangay Tabangao, Aplaya, Batangas City. Everything is possible as long as one believes.

My Civil Welfare Training Service activity is very fun to do because we can help a certain barangay and also the childrens.We, as a BatStateU student is not doing this services just to pass the required subject CWTS,but also to help other people.To be honest,this kind of services is not easy to do.We do a lot of things and sacrifices just to teach the children and also to painting the walls of the vacant area in Barangay Tabangao. And I hope that the parents of the children and also the teachers will appreciate the little help we've done and also the effort and time we spend.

For me as a student, community service is the cheapest subject that should always take when you are in college. Why am I saying this? Simply because, instead of be at home, lay in bed and do nothing just relaxing, you need to go out and serve other people. I don‟t expect any lesson that I could learn from this. But on the other side, I realize that this service is pretty good. Now Im telling that I was wrong. On our first day, we cleaned around the area of the barangay. I thought on that first day is non sense instead I proved that community service is more fun. Then, in the mid way of January 2013 I was amazed about my self because I taught a basic reading skill to the children that was a short story. After that day, it feels good for me because, I share some of my knowledge to help other people especially to the children. There so many good things that happened in our community service that no one can forget. And at the end of the day. I ‟m glad to be a part of this service. I won‟t forget the entire good thing that I ‟ve done to serve. Now I always say this “community service had real knowledge that the other subject don‟t have”

ADVANTAGES OF SPEED READING
Applying speed reading skills provides you with the following advantages: 1. You can absorb a large number of information in a short period of time, allowing you to read more even though you are pressed of time. 2. You can easily see the grammatical and formal structure of the reading material. 3. Your eyes have to do less work, and can read for longer periods without getting too tired.
FACTORS THAT REDUCE READING SPEED
It is important to recognize the factors that reduce your speed in reading in order to correct or avoid them. 1. Reading word-by-word. It is only a misconception that, in order to fully understand what you are reading you need to read every word. 2. Slow recognition of and response to the material. This can be brought about by lack of focus, limited vocabulary or poor reading habit. 3. Vocalization. Some people have developed the habit of reading aloud. Because of this, they do not comprehend what they read unless they vocalize. 4. Faulty eye movements. This also a problem brought about by lack of focus. The eye wanders into parts of the pages that should not be the focus at the moment. 5. Regression. This can be both borne out of habit and a result of poor concentration. The person who regresses finds himself or herself reading passages that he or she has already read.
6. Inattention and lack of retention. This is also a result of poor concentration during the reading act. After reading a portion of the material, the reader finds out that he or she did not understand anything. 7. Lack of practice in reading. The fact that the person has read very little or has limited reading interest contributes to lack of practice and consequently, to slowness in reading.
HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR SPEED IN READING
1. Identify a purpose. The purpose you identify is what you will try t achieve in your reading. This step is valuable when skimming through the material. Because you have purpose, your eyes will immediately zoom in on the words that are relevant to your purpose. 2. Ignore the words or parts of the article that you do not understand. J ust
keep on reading. 3. Don’t read back. This will slow you down and will defeat the purpose of your practice. Just go on reading. 4. Practice moving your eyes fast. Don‟t let your eyes stay on the same line for more than 5 seconds. 5. Try to identify one main idea from one paragraph. It is possible that there are two or more ideas in one paragraph or one main idea is expressed in two or more paragraph. Try to identify this fact as well. 6. Remember that one eye movement is useful in speed reading. There is no one method for using eye movement. You can try to move your eyes diagonally, read the words at the beginning at the end of each line, read the words in the middle of each line, or read nouns and verbs only. Tyr out different methods and find out which one agrees with you.
7. Use your hands as guide. Simply place your right or left hand on the page and slowly move it straight down the page, drawing your eyes down as you read. This will help guide your eyes. 8. Use a card or a folded-up piece of paper to cover the parts that you have
just read. This helps you break the habit of reading a passage over and over. The way to improve reading speed is through constant practice. Make use of above pointers. Allot a few minutes a day to practice. Check that you do not fall back into the habits that slow down your reading. Pretty soon, you will find yourself effortlessly breezing through a book.
STORIES WITH MORAL LESSONS
These are the stories that we‟ve shared to the young grades three and four students of Tabanagao Elementary School during those sessions that we ‟re sharing them our intellects. These stories have moral lessons and they tend to fasten their reading speed, comprehension and vocabulary as well.
THE GOOSE THAT LAID GOLDEN EGGS
Once there was a farmer who had a goose and one morning he found a golden egg laid by the goose. Intrigued, he waited to see what would happen the next morning. Again, there was another golden egg. The poor farmer was over the moon as he could sell these eggs and make a fortune. However one day the farmer decided to get a bit clever. He grabbed his axe and chopped the goose in half as he thought to himself, if it is laying golden eggs daily then there must be a whole bunch of them inside the goose. Of course, to his disappointment there was nothing inside and worse he had killed his goose that had laid him 1 golden egg a day. So how is this story relevant to our lives? Well I believe the reason why most people are not rich is because they have a get rich quick mentality. They want everything the next day and they want overnight success. They are like the farmer of the story; AND alot of these people have a golden goose that they cannot see. I also believe we are conditioned for the way we are so we cannot fully blame ourselves for thinking in such way. The true path to wealth is a journey and a pilgrim. It requires patience and it requires momentum. The way you build your wealth is by accumulating the golden eggs that are laid daily; and then use that to acquire another goose that lays golden eggs. It
really is as simple as that. Then you have two goose that lay you 2 golden eggs everyday and you have just doubled your wealth. What a lot of people do is because they cannot wait and want everything today; they go and take down the goose believing that the short term satisfactions are going to bring happiness to their lives; only to find out later they have put themselves in a worse situation then they were. THE FOX AND THE CROW
The Fox once saw the Crow fly over with a piece of cheese in her beak. "I want that cheese," thought the Fox.
When the Crow landed upon a branch of a tree, the Fox sat down beneath the tree and called, "Good day, Mistress Crow! How well you are looking! How bright your eyes! How glossy your feathers!"
The Crow was pleased. She loved to be flattered.
"I am sure your voice is even more beautiful than your feathers," said the Fox. "Won't you sing a song for me, O Queen of Birds?"
The Crow was so pleased she could hardly sit still.
She lifted her head high, closed her eyes and opened her beak to sing: CAW-CAW-C-CAW-W-W
The cheese fell to the ground, right in front of the Fox.
"Thank you Mistress Crow," he said the unhappy bird. "In exchange for your cheese, I will give you a piece of advice." NEVER TRUST A FLATTERER.
THE UGLY DUCKLING
It is a beautiful summer day. The sun shines warmly on an old house near a river. Behind the house a mother duck is sitting on ten eggs. "Tchick." One by one all the eggs break open. All except except one. This This one is the biggest biggest egg of all. Mother duck sits and sits on the big egg. At last it breaks open, "Tchick, tchick!" Out jumps the last baby duck. It looks big and strong. It is grey and ugly. The next day mother duck takes all her little ducks to the river. She jumps into it. All her baby ducks jump in. The big ugly duckling jumps in too. They all swim and play together. The ugly duckling swims better than all the other ducklings. Quack, quack! Come with me to the farm yard! - says mother duck to her baby ducks and they all follow her there. The farm yard is very noisy. The poor duckling is so unhappy there. The hens peck him, the rooster flies at him, the ducks bite him, the farmer kicks him. At last one day he runs away. He comes to a river. He sees many beautiful big birds swimming there. Their feathers are so white, their necks so long, their wings so pretty. The little duckling looks and looks at them. He wants to be with them. He wants to stay and watch them. He knows they are swans. Oh, how he wants to be beautiful like them. Now it is winter. Everything is white with snow. The river is covered with ice. The ugly duckling is very cold and unhappy. Spring comes once again. The sun shines warmly. Everything is fresh and green. One morning the ugly duckling sees the beautiful swans again. He knows them. He wants so much to swim with them in the river. But he is afraid of them. He wants to die. So he runs into the river. He looks into the water. There in the water he sees a beautiful swan. It is he! He is no more an ugly duckling. He is a beautiful white swan.
