I don't do past lives...so I interpret the nodes as past and present in this life. I think contacts to the south node are usually "familiar" in some way and with Venus con south node, it might be that they hold the same values that you once did. I don't believe it's necessarily a bad thing to have stuff on someone else's south node [or vice versa] as long as there is something aspecting the north too. Without the connection to the "future", there's unlikely to be one, it'll get to a stage where there's nothing to "pull you forward".

I also know that north node conjunct Ascendant is referred to the future develop of the relationship... it has its roots in the future, a powerful link. When the north node is opposite the ascendant in synastry the relationship has its roots far into the past.

I think that future development would mean that the potential karmic bond between two people would show itself more and more significantly in their future as a couple for instance. As NN represents parts of ourselfs that need to develop and grow it is possible to interpret that the NN peron will mature incredibly with the help of the ASC person. Well at least as how i would see things

Another way to interpret ASC/NN connection in synastry would be to consider it as a special bond bwtween two people, a karmic one. As i say karmic i'm refering to a connection that includes many lifespans. It is very possible that people with such aspects already met in their past lives, and formed relationships. It's not necessarilly that they were of romantic nature, perhaps very good friends, in other words any kind of relationship that significantly influenced their previous lives and created a strong bond between them. In my opinion a past life hate relationship would also manifest itself through this aspect during current life period.

We all know that the NN has to do with our past lives. It represents our karmic debt of somekind, some underdeveloped traits of ours that we didn't menage to work on during our past incarnations. I guess something we have to deal with during this life. I would than logicaly asume that the NN person will find

the ASC person as someone who can help them improve and grow.

Maybe this connection also implies, that we have to repay our debt to this ASC individual from our previos lives we spent together. Some sort of mistake we made in the pastlife that was hurtful for that ASC person. This is just a thought though.

On the other hand it could be only a significant marker, shownig us that there is a significant bond between two individuals. Usually people would interpret this as a soulmate connection and i would very well agree if we put all of this in to context of a romantic or friendship based realtionship. In the case of  Paul and Linda Mccartney this ASC/NN aspect was alwayas interpreted as a very strong karmic indicator that they were soulmates. In general their synastry chart is often used as an example of a soulmate relationship. And i would agree to all of that, they probably had a very loving and meaningful relationship in the past as well. Now a question however, is it possible that two people that were something like mortal enemies in the past life have such an aspect? Wouldn't it be logical that we interpret such intense tension and opposition between two individuals as a strong "bond" as well. Wouldn't they have the same kind of aspect in this life? Now wouldn't that mean that the NN person is in way challenged to reconcile with the ASC person. It would be even more interesting if there was a double whammy . This is the debt i was talking about earlier. LOL am i making any sense here hehe
