INTRODUCTIONNational institute of fashion technology (NIFT) is a fashion institute in India. It was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the ministry of textiles, government of India and is an institution of design, management and technology for the international fashion business. With its head office in new Delhi, NIFT has centres at Mumbai, Kolkata, Kangra, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Raebareli, Patna, Shillong, Bhopal, Kannur, Bhubaneswar and jodhpur where it offers four-year bachelor and two-year master programmes in the areas of design, management and technology. A new NIFT campus is proposed in Panchkula, Haryana aimed to develop textile, handloom and cottage industry in Haryana.

AIMTo develop a world class institute of fashion technology at Haryana, confirming to NIFT standards.

OBJECTIVES•

To provide world class institute and encourage it to generate more internal resources, promote innovation and result in an overall improvement in the standard of education and research.

To achieve a space for budding designers and local rich culture activities of Haryana.

•

Build links between the environment and built spaces.

•

The institution would act as a functional center of creativeness, education and promotion era for fashion goods.

•

To establish a landmark to the surroundings.

•

Efficient circulation and parking.

•

To stand out in terms of function, form and an energy conscious design.

SCOPE•

The institution will provide educational facilities to the students thus understanding the works being performed in the fashion and textile industry.

•

Works done will be promoted through exhibition halls and museum, helping the institute to gain a new identity than other fashion institute .

•

The goods displayed can be exported thus leading in the economic development of the institute.

•

This project will be the combination of art, architecture and design and thus creating a landmark for the city like Haryana.

METHODOLOGY

Detailed analysis of the site.



Studying the requirements of the project.



Literature study for the best understanding of the subject.



Visiting similar sites for reference and case study.



Evolution of concept for designing.



Finalizing the structures and requirements.



Creating an aesthetic eco-friendly design for the project.

SITE

Haryana, one of the richest states of Indian union has fertile land and vibrant industrial environment. It also has a thriving textile market particularly, of handloom and home furnishings. The arts and crafts of Haryana include a variety of styles and reflect the rich cultural heritage of the State.



Panchkula is a planned city in Panchkula district, Haryana, India. It forms a part of a continuous area with the Union Territory of Chandigarh and the city of Mohali.



It is approximately 4 km from the Chandigarh.



The Chandigarh-Mohali-Panchkula metropolitan region collectively forms a Tri-city, with a combined population of over 2 million.



Proposed site is around 15 acres.
