– Switch over to New Force – ZKL presents its new standard of roller bearings

2

Meeting the Demands of Technically Advanced Clients ZKL pays proper atenion o echnical developmen o producs and invesmens in new echnologies in order o mee he demands o echnically advanced cliens. As a resul o one o undamenal innovaions in recen ime is launching gradual producion sar o ZKL bearings o higher sandard wih NEW FORCE designaion. By inroducing he producion o New Force bearings ZKL hus ollows up wih he already maerialized innovaion phase o spherical roller bearings wih seel shee and brass machined cages. Tis iniiaed process will resul in serial producion represening approximaely 50 percen o oal assormen o ZKL roller bearings in caegory New Force in year 2010.

New Force bearings consiue a new generaion o ZKL bearings. Te applicaion o hese bearings brings longer service lie o bearings, higher operaion saey, prolongaion o service inervals and hus a subsanial reducion o operaional cos or users. New Force bearings are designed or mos challenging mounings in ransmission boxes, in railway vehicles, presses, rolling mills, paper mill machines, pumps, machine ools, power unis, in prining indusry and similar. As a rst complex series o New Force bearings there are being introduced on the market radial spherical roller bearings or heavy duty operating conditions where use o standard bearings with steel sheet cage is not recommended. Tese new ZKL bearings are in execuion wih prong-ype brass machined cage (EMH version).

Use o High Quality Bearing Materials Steels or bearing production comply with parameters o international sandards se orh in CSN EN ISO 683-17 Sandard “Hea-reaed Seels, Alloy Seels and Free-Cuting Seels, Par 17: Ball and Roller Bearing Seels”. For producion o bearing rings and rolling elemens high qualiy maerials o careully seleced iron works is being used. Long-sanding collaboraion with suppliers guarantees permanent amelioration process o evaluating parameers o incoming maerials.

Bearings New Force are made of through-hardening bearing steel 100Cr6, 100MnSi6-4 o r 100CrMo7. Deerminan qualiy parameers o seel and is processing have infuence on bearing uiliy values, namely is resisance o aigue damage, abrasion resisance and dimensional sabiliy. Tey are: •



Chemical composition and heat treatment: Selecion o bearing seel ype and opimizaion o hea reamen condiions is being made in dependence on componen dimension. Hea reamen echnology o New Force bearings guaranees sable hardness values o bearing componens in enire prole. Bearing componens are hea reaed o opimum maerial srucure and hardness suiable or bearing use in service emperaures up o 200°C. Resuling maerial srucure guaranees dimensional sabiliy o bearing componens hroughou heir service live. Content o non-metallic inclusions – micro purity: Reducion o non-meallic inclusions conen is a decisive qualiy parameer in bearing seel meallurgy advancemen. For producion o New Force bearings ZKL is using bearing seel wih minimum oxygen conen (5 o 10 ppm).

Technology of Cold Rolled Bearing Rings Basic research demonstrated the infuence o material bers direction to the contact area in respect o bearing service lie. Te most suiable arrangemen o bers is such when heir direcion is parallel o conac area. Wih increasing angle o bers direcion oward he contact area the service lie lessens. Optimized Design and Inner Geometry Te design and modern technology o production o ZKL bearings in New Force execution brings the ollowing improvements in comparison wih bearings in sandard version: •









Higher quality o unctional areas by characterized roughness, roundness and level o  residual ension fow in bearing pars prole. I brings noise reducion and higher accuracy in bearing run. Adjusted parts shape in rolling contact characterized by abutment parameter. Tus the conac ension course is avorably infuenced and adverse sliding ension caused by slippage is reduced. Spherical roller bearings are designed wih inner ring wihou xed cener rib. Tis enables o use larger spherical rollers and progressive producion echnology. Te sandard serial producion is urher oriened o use seel shee cages in EJ and CJ version as prioriy. For very challenging operaing condiions he design o spherical roller bearings is based on CJ and EJ version where steel sheet cages are substituted by one-piece prong-type machined brass cage EMH, cenered on inner ring. Te caalogue uili y values o bearings wih seel shee cage are observed.

New Force radial spherical roller bearings in EMH version are being introduced on the marke as he rs, o be ollowed by radial spherical roller bearings in EJ and CJ version, spherical roller bearings o larger sizes and single row and double row ball bearings.

Special Surface Treatment of NEW FORCE Bearings Components In rame o innovation programs a new design execution o steel sheet cages or spherical roller radial and thrust bearings has been esablished. Cages are manuacured o seel shee wih surace reamen or improved sliding properies and reduced cage wear. Cages design execuion enables beter lubricaion and exended bearing service lie. Surace reamens o New Force bearing componens represen proven mehod o improved bearing properies or specic mounings. Te bene o surace layers is a beter lubrican reenion in rolling conac, reduced ricion, increased wear and corrosion resisance. We recommend o consul suiabiliy o surace reamen or special running condiions wih echnical and Consuling Services o ZKL.

Design Tests Te principal parameers o New Force bearings are designed in compliance wih proven mehodology o ZKL insiued on basis o  international ISO standards and own know-how acquired by test results as well as by experiences in production and operation o ZKL bearings. Basic dynamic load rating C is specied in conormiy w ih ISO 281 1990. Numeric values in able secion are sipulaed or New Force bearings in view o improved maerial properies and modern indusrial processes. Basic static load rating C o is sipulaed in conormiy wih ISO 76:1987 sandard. Limiting speed requency is specied in compliance wih inernal ZKL mehodology. Te designed parameers were veried by ess on ZKL esing saions.

ZKL Bearings Parameters Verifcation Te parameers o ZKL New Force bearings are being veried by ess in rame o heir developmen as well as by periodical qualiy evaluaion in course o serial production. Te tests are perormed according to own mehodology on esing benches o bearing esing laboraory o  ZKL-Výzkum a vývoj, a.s. company, the member o Czech esting and Laboraories Associaion CLA.

Technical Support of ZKL Bearings Users For soluion o cliens’ needs he echnical and Consuling Services cener (CS) is ully a disposal. Is proessionals are prepared o operaively solve requiremens and quesions o ZKL bearings users regarding rolling arrangemen and mouning. CS renders inormaion o cliens in he eld o bearings, heir accessories and ribology.

Upon user’s request CS perorms technical supervision in mouning and dismouning o bearings a he client and gives special training courses or users’ sta  in newly built training center. CS cooperates with manuacurers in developmen o rolling arrangemen. I elaboraes echnical experise o bearings break downs. It determines reasons o break downs and suggests measures or heir prevenion.

Practical experiences in ZKL bearings operation became relevant inducement in New Force bearings design.
