I.
Sri Kramam
Nature of Lalita: Purpose Lalita is a Goddess who is transcendental and immanent (existing beyond the known and also in the known). Her main rasa is Sringara or the erotic sentiment. Dharma, artha and kama are all obtained Herea moksa is obtained Here and There by the upasana (regular worship) of Sri Lalita, whose mūla mantra is Panchadasaksari (15lettered mantra beginning with the letter ‘ka’). Upasana of this Brahma Vidya is given fully here without any omissions. The tradition followed here is that given by Guru Dattatreya to Parasurama, who has codified it in his Kalpa Sutras. Dattatreya is a combination of the determination of Brahma (iccha sakti), the knowledge of Visnu (jnana sakti) and the action of siva (kriya sakti). The other tradition comes from Daksinamurti. It follows an identical procedure to this except that there are no external props required for puja, such as a Sri Yantra or a suvasini, etc. It is fully meditative in character. It demands a study of the vedas for 18 years under a proper Guru before this sadhana is taken up. As such, it cannot be prescribed for all people in the present age of Kali. The Dattatreya tradition does not require such austerities. It can be performed by all people irrespective of caste, colour, creed or religion. Although it is an external worship, it combines in it all the benefits of internal worship too. Because of the external nature of the worship, it can help others also in getting liberated.
1. Guru Mantra Recite the guru mantra twice with the Mrgha (deer) mudra on top of the head.
Aim Hrim Srim Aim Klim Souh
Hamsah sivah Soham Hasakhaphrem Hasaksa malavarayum Hasaum Sahaksa malavarayim Sahauh Svarupa Nirupana Hetave Svagurave Sri Annapurnamba Sahita Sri Amritananda Natha Sri Guru Sri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah
In the above, insert the names of the Guru Patni and the Guru who have given you diksa. The meaning of the mantra is roughly as follows: Knowledge about the nature of illusion and the nature of grace, of creation, protection and absorption, life-breath siva, sakti. I am all that I see. Eliminate the names and the forms in my mind for space travel. Move the Kundalini from ajna to Muladhara and up toVisuddhi and vice versa. That such is my nature is proved to me by my Sri Guru’s Power and Sri Guru. I worship the two feet of Devī as the feet of my Guru with flowers and with water.
2. Morning Meditation – Devi’s Form From Muladhara to Brahmarandhra, flashing like a crore of lightning: throwing out red streams of corona from the red fire ball of sun in the early morning. Such is the appearance of the fundamental knowledge that is Devī. (By this meditation, all sins are eliminated). Recite 15 times the Panchadasi Mantra of Devi given below:
Ka e i la hrim ha sa ka ha la hrim sa ka la hrim 3. Offering Arghyam to Surya Join your open palms with chin mudra. Take a handful of water and drop it on a plate three times chanting the following mantra:
Hram Hrim Hrum Sah Martamda Bhairavaya prakasa sakti sahitaya svaha Aim hrim Srim
(3
times)
4. Snana Sandhya - Sarira Prokshna Sprinkle a handful of water on: Your eyebrow center chanting Aim hrim Srim Ka e i la hrim At your heart center chanting Aim hrim Srim Ha sa ka ha la hrim At the yoni center chanting Aim hrim Srim Sa ka la hrim
tripura Sundari Vidmahe pitha kamini dhimahi tannah klinne pracodayat
Finish the bath and if possible, recite Sri Suktam or Panchadasi Mantra.
5. Ganapati Dhyanam Chant any Ganapati mantra or just recite the following:
Om …Gam… Gam… Gam… Gam …Gam……… Gam… Gam… Ganapataye namaha
6. Flowers to Guru’s Light Light two lamps. The lamp with oil has a red wick. It is to your right and Devī’s left. The lamp with a white wick dipped in ghee and camphor is towards your left and Devī’s right. Offer a white flower to the ghee lamp and a red flower to the oil lamp saying: Aim hrim Srim
Rakta dvadasa sakti yuktaya dvipa nathaya namah
This means: to the Guru who is in the form of this light here, accompanied by the 12 saktis always attached to him, I request him to illuminate me as to the nature of immanence and transcendence.
7. Samkalpam acamanam: Sip water three times with the following mantras:
1) Aim atma tatvaya svaha 2) Klim vidya tatvaya svaha 3) Souh siva tatvaya svaha Aim Klim Souh sarva tatvaya svaha Pour water on the plate with water flowing between middle and ring finger. Touch the water with ring finger and recite:

11. Viraja Homam and Pranayama Take a deep breath. Keep saying ‘yam’. Visualize that your body placed on the funeral pyre is being dried up by a great wind blowing on it. ‘Yam’ is the wind. Release your breath. Take a deep breath again. Keep saying ‘ram’. Set your body on fire. The fire is burning furiously. ‘Ram’ is the fire. At the end of the fire, your body is reduced to ashes called vibhuti. Release your breath. Take a deep breath. Keep saying ‘vam’. Great clouds gather, a thunder and lightning occurs and an incessant rain falls. ‘Vam’ is the rain. The ashes are wetted by nectar ‘vam’. The divine body of Devī is born out of these ashes. This divine body is your body of Lalita.
Pranayama Do three rounds of pranayama with Panchadasi as described below. Inhale Hold breath In Exhale Hold breath Out

The three celestial lights of Fire, Sun and the Moon represent the three channels of nervous currents called susumna, pingala and ida. Among them, they exhaust all the letters of the Samskrit alphabet, except the letter ‘ma’. The letter ‘ma’ means contact. Since every act of worship involves contact, it is implied in every kala whether it be of fire, sun or moon. Lalita Devī is fond of the letter ‘ma’ because ‘ma’ also means mother.
26. Hamsa, Amga Devata Puja of Sri Sudha Devi In the Visesarghyam, draw a triangle consisting of three groups of 16 letters of the Samskrit alphabet. The first 16 form the line slanting towards your right. The second 16 form the top horizontal line. The third 16 form the line slanting to your left. At the three corners write the seed letters ham {am and ksam.

51. (inside left corner of triangle) Completes 51 mattrkas, the 51 letters of the samskrit alphabet.
Kama Kala In the center of this triangle of letters, write the kama kala, consisting of a circle for the face, two circles for the breasts and a small triangle for the yoni of Devi. This is called kama kala because it symbolizes the word ‘ahamsah’ meaning ‘I am that.’ The letter ‘a’ stands for lack of any description, sunya, or circle. The letter ‘ha’ stands for visarga, two circles. The letter ‘m’ respresents contact, the sound of source, the womb of Devi. So this picture is a description of Devi Herself. Worship the parts of kama kala as follows: Aim hrim Srim Aim hrim Srim Aim hrim Srim
ka e i la hrim namah ha sa ka ha la hrim namah sa ka la hrim namah
(face) (breasts) (yoni)

29. Invocation of siva, sakti and siva sakti Kalas – Amrta Kalas The right foot of Ardhanarisvara is siva’s and the left foot is sakti’s. If the Guru is male Her right foot belongs to him and if the Guru is female Her left foot belongs to her. Time is the linga of siva flowing into space, which is Devi’s yoni. This eternal union creates the flow of amrta that is Jnana. The flow of the siva ganga between their feet becomes the flow of past and future through present. These form amrta kalas. The jnana, the knowledge of the world, comes to us through the pancha amrtas – sabda, sparsa, rupa, rasa and gandha.
