Features and Application Notes The NANT-A:

• • • • • •

Is used in a Flexible Density (FD) 7302 ISAM and a 7330 FD subrack. Provides the management and control interfaces. Provides centralized alarm handling and reporting. Has one fixed 1000BASE-X port (SFP only) and one 1000BASE-X combo port (SFP or RJ45). Supports fiber bending. Supports:

• the LT boards in a 7302 FD subrack  • a combination of LT boards and REM/SEM units in a 7330 FD subrack. • • • • •

Supports up to 16 K MAC address entries with hardware assisted aging. Supports NT redundancy from 7302 ISAM R3.2 onwards. Supports NT I/O. Supports back pressure at half duplex and IEEE802.3x flow control at full duplex. Operates within the temperature range of -40 °C to +65 °C.

NANT-A

General Description The NANT-A contains the control functions of the ISAM 7302 FD and 7330 FD. It handles the xDSL, the chassis and the switching data path. The NANT-A provides management interfaces (LCMI and LEMI) to the outside world and control interfaces towards other subsystems (LT board, NT I/O board). Figure 1 shows the position of the NANT-A in the system. Fig. 1: Position of the NANT-A in the system Alarm interfaces

PSIM

The different functional blocks are:

  MCSD

The Master Clock-Synchronization and -Distribution (MSCD) provides a HW-stuffable interface and synchronization circuitry (Generic Equipment Timing Source (GETS)) to lock the ISAM system clock onto a very accurate received BITS reference timing signal. This ISAM system clock reference will be forwarded to all LT boards within the same ISAM subrack.

ACU

The Alarm Control Unit (ACU) provides all the necessary alarm control and interface circuitry for accumulating system alarms, driving relay contacts for alarm outputs and  provisioning visual alarm indications.

  CISC

The Centralized ISAM System Controller (CISC) provides all the On-Board Controller (OBC) functions:

• centralized control and management approach •  processing capabilities for dropped GE packets/frames from the GE switching module.

  NUTS

The Network/User Transport and Switching (NUTS) provides the interface and switching circuitry for the front and back related uplink/network interfaces to/from the LT slots.

  PSIM

The Power Supply Interface Module (PSIM) converts the rack power supply into all necessary voltages as required by the used components.

FIM

The Frontplate Interface Module (FIM) at the front stiffener holds some physical interface connectors, a button and some LEDs.

BIM

The Backplane Interface Module (BIM) constitutes all the necessary control, management, and data plane related interfaces.
