Overview This document contains information related to the installation of the N68E-22 cabinet. The information consists of how to install the cabinet, accessories, external power cables, and PGND cables, how to attach engineering labels to the power cables and PGND cables, and other reference information.

Organization 1 Changes in the N68E-22 Cabinet Installation Guide This chapter describes the changes in the N68E-22 Cabinet Installation Guide. 2 Overview of the N68E-22 Cabinet The N68E-22 cabinet features a modular design. It provides sufficient space for installing devices such as subracks to facilitate capacity expansion and maintenance. Among the main parts of a cabinet, load-bearing parts include front and rear columns of the racks, middle columns, and door frames. Other parts cannot bear load, including mounting bars, front and rear doors, wooden plates on both sides of the cabinet, front and rear wire bushings, and guide rails. 3 Preparing for the N68E-22 Cabinet Installation Before installing the N68E-22 cabinet, you need to unpack the cases and check the items in the cases. 2 Overview of the N68E-22 Cabinet

Overview of the N68E-22 Cabinet

The N68E-22 cabinet features a modular design. It provides sufficient space for installing devices such as subracks to facilitate capacity expansion and maintenance. Among the main parts of a cabinet, load-bearing parts include front and rear columns of the racks, middle columns, and door frames. Other parts cannot bear load, including mounting bars, front and rear doors, wooden plates on both sides of the cabinet, front and rear wire bushings, and guide rails.

Appearance of the N68E-22 Cabinet The color of the N68E-22 cabinet surface is purple and gray. N68E-22 cabinets are classified into single-door cabinets and double-door cabinets. Figure 2-1 shows the appearance of a singledoor N68E-22 cabinet. Figure 2-2 shows the appearance of a double-door N68E-22 cabinet. NOTE

BSC6910 series cabinets support only the double-door mode and BSC6900 series cabinets support both the single-door and double-door modes.

Ensure that all the tools required for the installation are available. 3.1 Unpacking the Cases and Checking the Items This section describes how to unpack the cases and check the items in the cases to facilitate subsequent cabinet installation. 3.2 Tools Required for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet The tools required for installing the N68E-22 cabinet are tools for measuring, marking, drilling, and fastening, small tools, auxiliary tools, meters, and some special tools.

3.1 Unpacking the Cases and Checking the Items This section describes how to unpack the cases and check the items in the cases to facilitate subsequent cabinet installation.

Prerequisites l

Site preparation for the installation is complete.

l

The cases that contain the cabinets and components are delivered to the site.

l

When carrying or placing the equipment, you should ensure that it does not collide with doors, walls, shelves, or other objects.

l

When transporting or installing the equipment, components, or parts, you should avoid touching their uncoated metal surfaces with sweaty or dirty gloves.

Context

Procedure Step 1 Unload the cases.

CAUTION When unloading the cases, you should place the cases in sequence. Ensure that the labels on the cases face the same direction. Step 2 Check whether the number of cases on site matches the Packing List and whether the place of delivery is the same as the actual installation place. If...

Any label on a case becomes red, as shown The case has been hit by a force greater than by part 2 in Figure 3-1 50g (g is the standard gravity) during transportation. Such hit damages the cabinet or boards in the case. To handle this problem, go to Step 4.

Step 4 Stop unpacking the cases. Ask the project supervisor to send the Cargo Problems Report that is signed by the customer to the local Huawei office within three days. Step 5 Check whether the cases are intact. If...

Any case is seriously damaged or soaked

Step 6 Stop unpacking the cases, find out the causes, and contact the local Huawei office to further handle the problem.

CAUTION To protect the equipment and find out the causes, perform the following actions: Move the unpacked equipment indoors for proper storage, take photos of the storage environment, the rusted or corroded equipment, packing cases, and packing materials. Keep these photos for future verification. Store the packing cases and materials properly.

Step 7 Unpack the wooden cases.

CAUTION l Before unpacking, move the wooden cases into or close to the equipment room if enough space is available. This prevents damage to the cabinets during the transportation. l When you unpack the wooden cases, unpack the one containing the packing list first. Then, you can find items rapidly according to the names, codes, positions, and quantities in the Packing List. l The following description takes the wooden case that contains the cabinet as an example. The methods of unpacking other types of wooden cases are similar. 1.

Place the wooden case on the ground. Ensure that the side with the wooden frame faces the bottom.

Use a wrench, a flat-head screwdriver, or a claw hammer to straighten the tongues on the four sides of the cover, as shown in Figure 3-2. Figure 3-2 Straightening the tongue

Remove the cover. If the wooden case contains a carton, take out the carton and then open it according to Step 8. If the wooden case contains a cabinet, go to the next step. See Figure 3-3.

CAUTION This operation needs three to five installers. Prevent the cabinet from falling during the erection to avoid personnel injury. 6.

Remove the bottom of the case, that is, the side with the wooden frame.

7.

Remove the packing foam from the corners and edges of the cabinet.

8.

Remove the vacuum plastic bag.

Step 8 Unpack the carton, as shown in Figure 3-5. Figure 3-5 Unpacking a carton

Check the types and quantities of the items in the carton according to the carton label.

2.

Use diagonal pliers to cut the straps.

3.

Rip the tape along the joint seams by using the paper knife. Do not insert the knife too deep, or else the items may be damaged.

Unpack the carton and take out the items.

Step 9 Unpack boards.

CAUTION l Electronic components are extremely sensitive to static electricity. When unpacking the boards, wear an ESD wrist strap or a pair of ESD gloves properly. l The ESD bag contains desiccant to keep the bag dry. When taking the board from a cold dry place to a hot damp place, wait at least 30 minutes before unpacking. Otherwise, moisture condensed on the board surface may damage the board. 1.

Check that no evident damage is on the board packages.

2.

Open the packages and ensure that the boards are in good condition. For any board problem, contact the order management engineer at the local Huawei office.

Step 10 Check whether the unpacked boards need to be installed immediately, and then proceed accordingly. If...

Then...

The unpacked boards need to be installed Place the boards on an ESD surface and immediately discharge the static electricity. The unpacked boards need not be installed Pack the boards with the original materials and immediately place them in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight or strong electromagnetic radiation. Step 11 Check the items. Check the items one by one according to the names, types, and quantities described in the Packing List. The acceptance of items covers the following aspects: l Appearance: Check whether there is any visible defect, looseness, distortion, or damage; check whether the labels are legible and whether the nameplates and decorating plates are available and meet the requirements. l Integrity: Ensure that all the parts and accessories required for the installation of cabinets are available. l Computer: Check whether the monitor, keyboard, and mouse are intact and in good condition. l Board: Ensure that the type and quantity of the boards are consistent with those in the Packing List. Ensure that no printed circuit board is broken and no component is detached from the board. NOTE

The project supervisor should take the major role in the inspection of equipment and components whose electric characteristics are likely to have been affected.

The packing list indicates "shortage of articles"

Inform the order management engineer at the local office. Then, sign the Packing List together with the customer.

There are any short, wrong, extra, or damaged items

Representatives of Huawei and the customer must sign the Unpacking Inspection Memo and Packing List. The installation supervisor must fill in the Cargo Problems Report and inform the order management engineer at the local office in three days. The installation supervisor must keep the problematic items intact and the inner and outer packing intact for future investigation and verification.

The shipment is intact

Place the inspected items by type. Then, representatives of Huawei and the customer sign the Packing List.

3.2 Tools Required for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet The tools required for installing the N68E-22 cabinet are tools for measuring, marking, drilling, and fastening, small tools, auxiliary tools, meters, and some special tools.

Meters The meters required for installing the N68E-22 cabinet are the multimeter and 500 V megohmmeter (for testing insulation resistance). NOTE

The meters must be checked and certified.

About This Chapter This chapter describes how to install the N68E-22 cabinet on the concrete floor. 5.1 Materials for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet on the Concrete Floor The N68E-22 cabinet can be directly installed on the concrete floor, so other types of materials are not required. Line drawing and hole drilling are the primary tasks for cabinet installation as imprecise drawing or drilling may hamper the installation. Therefore, it is important to ensure their quality.

l

Before marking cabinet positions and drilling holes, check the installation position of the equipment, such as cable racks, in the equipment room for easy cabling.

l

The Equipment Room Floor Plan is provided by the customer or the site survey personnel.

Procedure Step 1 Ensure that the Equipment Room Floor Plan is in accordance with the requirements for installing the N68E-22 cabinet by referring to Template Files for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet. Step 2 Use a tape measure to determine the cabinet positions based on the dimensions specified in the Equipment Room Floor Plan. Step 3 Determine the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies on the concrete floor based on the installation position of the cabinet. You can use the marking template or tape measure to determine the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies on the concrete floor. The marking template is made of paper and is prone to deformation. Before using the marking template, check whether it is deformed based on the dimensions of marking template specified in Template Files for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet. If...

Step 4 Use the marking plate to determine the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies. 1.

As shown in Figure 5-4 or Figure 5-5, use measuring and marking instruments to measure and mark the start points for the front of a row of cabinets. From each start point, mark the benchmark lines in the cabinet arrangement direction.

Place the marking template on the floor. Ensure that the semicircle notch of the template indicates the front of the cabinet and the edges of the template align with the benchmark lines.

3.

Mark the positions of the holes (four holes for each cabinet) for expansion bolts on the floor by using the template.

4.

After all the hole positions are marked, ensure that the distance between the holes is accurate.

5.

Go to Step 6.

CAUTION l The concrete floor should not be penetrated. Therefore, you should confirm the thickness of the concrete floor before drilling holes. For some types of concrete floors on which the drilling is not suitable, you should consult the architectural engineers and get their permission before drilling holes. l Before drilling holes, you should take dustproof measures on the electronic equipment in the equipment room. You should use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust during the drilling. Before removing the dustproof cover from the electronic equipment, you should clean up the pieces of concrete that have accumulated during the drilling. l You must wear safety goggles during the drilling to protect your eyes from the dust. l While drilling holes, you must hold the drill stock firmly. You must keep the drill bit vertical to the floor to protect the floor from being damaged or the holes from being slanted. 1.

Dig a pit by using a chisel to help hold the drill bit to the floor, as shown in Figure 5-6. Figure 5-6 Digging a pit

Use a hammer drill to drill holes at the marked places on the concrete floor. The depth of each hole must range from 52 mm to 60 mm. All the holes must have the same depth. Select a Ф16 drill bit in appropriate length. See Figure 5-7. Figure 5-7 Drilling a hole

Ensure that the depth of each hole ranges from 52 mm to 60 mm and that the holes are not slanting. If the depth of the hole is not appropriate or if the hole is slanting, re-drill the hole. If the slanting hole cannot be corrected, stop using the hole.

4.

Remove the dust inside and outside the holes by using a vacuum cleaner.

Measure the distance between the holes. If the distance does not meet the specifications, reposition and drill new holes.

Insert the guiding rib on the nut into the guiding slot on the expansion tube, and then screw the bolt slightly to ensure that the guiding rib does not move out from the guiding slot. See part 1 of Figure 5-9.

Pre-tighten the expansion bolt clockwise so that the nut and the expansion tube do not get loose easily. See part 1 of Figure 5-10.

Context

CAUTION The gravity center of the cabinet is high. Therefore, do not lift or push the cabinet alone. Moving a cabinet requires at least two persons and a pallet truck, so as to ensure personnel safety and equipment safety.

Procedure Step 1 Remove the wooden protection boards from the front and back of the cabinet. Step 2 Remove the four wooden protection boards from both the left and right parts of the rack. Pull down the hook pin at the upper part of both the front and back doors of the cabinet, and then remove both doors. Store the doors for future use. See Figure 5-11. NOTE

When storing the doors, you should ensure that they are unlocked. Therefore, the lock rod at the lower part of each door does not protrude, thus preventing the lock rod from deformation. See Figure 5-12.

Step 3 Remove the reinforced plate from both sides of the cabinet. Step 4 Place the cabinet in the specified position. Align the installation holes in the cabinet with the holes on the floor. Step 5 Add the spring washer, flat washer, and insulating tube to each of the four expansion bolts. Then, insert each expansion bolt into the expansion tube and pretighten the expansion tube and the nut. See Figure 5-13. Step 6 Below the cabinet, push two insulating spacers from both the front and back sides. Ensure that the notch faces the inner side and is wedged in the expansion bolt. Step 7 Using M12 socket wrench to level the cabinet. Use a level bar to check the levelness of the cabinet. If the cabinet is not level, use a socket wrench to adjust the anchor bolt (adjustable range: 0-10 mm) of the cabinet and ensure that the cabinet is level. See Figure 5-14.

6.3 N6X Series Support Assembly The N6X series support assembly consists of N6X series support, guide rail, and front pallet. To support and secure the cabinet, you need to use bolts to fix the guide rail, support, and cabinet together and use the front pallet to support the ESD floor before and after the cabinet.

N6X Series Support The support is used to raise the cabinets so that the installation personnel can easily lay the floor and route the cables in the equipment room. Figure 6-4 shows the N6X series support.

Procedure Step 1 Ensure that the Equipment Room Floor Plan is in accordance with the requirements for installing the N68E-22 cabinet by referring to Template Files for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet. Step 2 Use a tape measure to determine the cabinet positions based on the dimensions specified in the Equipment Room Floor Plan. Step 3 Use the panel lifter to remove the ESD floor in the installation area. Step 4 Remove the supporting pieces of the ESD floor. Step 5 Clean the installation area. Step 6 Choose a method of determining the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies on the concrete floor. You can use the marking template or tape measure to determine the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies on the concrete floor. The marking template is made of paper and is prone to deformation. Before using the marking template, check whether it is deformed based on the dimensions of marking template specified in Template Files for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet. If...

Place the marking template on the floor. Ensure that the semicircle notch of the template indicates the front of the cabinet and the edges of the template align with the benchmark lines.

3.

Mark the positions of the holes (four holes for each cabinet) for expansion bolts on the floor by using the template.

4.

After all the hole positions are marked, ensure that the distance between the holes is accurate.

5.

Go to Step 9.

CAUTION l The concrete floor should not be penetrated. Therefore, you should confirm the thickness of the concrete floor before drilling holes. For some types of concrete floors on which the drilling is not suitable, you should consult the architectural engineers and get their permission before drilling holes. l Before drilling holes, you should take dustproof measures on the electronic equipment in the equipment room. You should use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust during the drilling. Before removing the dustproof cover from the electronic equipment, you should clean up the pieces of concrete that have accumulated during the drilling. l You must wear safety goggles during the drilling to protect your eyes from the dust. l While drilling holes, you must hold the drill stock firmly. You must keep the drill bit vertical to the floor to protect the floor from being damaged or the holes from being slanted. 1.

Dig a pit by using a chisel to help hold the drill bit to the floor, as shown in Figure 6-9. Figure 6-9 Digging a pit

Use a hammer drill to drill holes at the marked places on the concrete floor. The depth of each hole must range from 52 mm to 60 mm. All the holes must have the same depth. Select a φ16 drill bit. See Figure 6-10. Figure 6-10 Drilling a hole

Ensure that the depth of each hole ranges from 52 mm to 60 mm and that the holes are not slanting. If the depth of the hole is not appropriate or if the hole is slanting, re-drill the hole. If the slanting hole cannot be corrected, stop using the hole.

4.

Remove the dust inside and outside the holes by using a vacuum cleaner.

Measure the distance between the holes. If the position of a hole is not correct, re-position and drill a new hole.

Insert the guiding rib on the nut into the guiding slot on the expansion tube, and then screw the bolt slightly to ensure that the guiding rib does not move out from the guiding slot. See part 1 of Figure 6-12.

3.

Pre-tighten the expansion bolt clockwise so that the nut and the expansion tube do not get loose easily. See part 1 of Figure 6-13.

6.5 Installing the N6X Series Support and the Guide Rails This section describes how to install the N6X series support and the guide rails.

Procedure Step 1 Adjust the depth of the support. Move the two half supports so that the tail end of each half support is flush with the 800 silkscreen on the expansion lever. Then, fasten the six M8x20 screw assemblies on the expansion lever. See Figure 6-14.

Step 2 Adjust the height of the support. 1.

Loosen the height locking bolts. Figure 6-14 shows the positions of the height locking bolts.

2.

Adjust the height of the support until it is equal to the measured height of the ESD floor.

CAUTION l The height of the ESD floor shall be in accordance with the site survey report. l The value read on the height scale of each support must be the same as the measured height of the ESD floor. Otherwise, the heights of the cabinets in the same row may be different after capacity expansion. 3.

Tighten the height locking bolts to 45 N•m by using a torque wrench. Note that the two bolts in the middle should be tightened before the four bolts on the two sides.

Step 3 Install the guide rails. See Figure 6-15.

Place the guide rail on the support and align the installation holes for the guide rail with those for the support.

Assemble the support and the guide rail by using the M12x35 assembling bolts, spring washers, and flat washers.

Adjust the position of the support so that the diagonals of the four-sided shape formed by the two guide rails have nearly the same length, with a deviation of not more than 2 mm.

4.

Use a wrench to tighten the assembling bolts diagonally.

Step 4 Level and secure the support. 1.

Align the installation holes for the support with those for the expansion bolt assemblies in the ground, and then place the support assembled with the guide rail on the floor.

2.

Install the spring washers and flat washers on the M12x60 bolts. Through the installation holes for the support, vertically insert the bolts into the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies. See Figure 6-16.

Context

CAUTION The gravity center of the cabinet is high. Therefore, do not lift or push the cabinet alone. Moving a cabinet requires at least two persons and a pallet truck, so as to ensure personnel safety and equipment safety.

Procedure Step 1 Remove the wooden protection boards from the front and back of the cabinet. Step 2 Remove the four wooden protection boards from both the left and right parts of the rack. Pull down the hook pin at the upper part of both the front and back doors of the cabinet, and then remove both doors. Store the doors for future use. See Figure 6-19. NOTE

When storing the doors, you should ensure that they are unlocked. Therefore, the lock rod at the lower part of each door does not protrude, thus preventing the lock rod from deformation. See Figure 6-20.

Step 3 Remove the reinforced plate from both sides of the cabinet. Step 4 Determine the position of the cabinet front. Then, lift the cabinet onto the guide rail. Align the installation holes at the bottom of the cabinet with the four holes on the guide rail. Step 5 Add the spring washer, flat washer, and insulating tube to each of the four expansion bolts. Then, insert each expansion bolt into the expansion tube and pretighten the expansion tube and the nut. See Figure 6-21. Step 6 Below the cabinet, push two insulating spacers from both the front and back sides. Ensure that the notch faces the inner side and is wedged in the expansion bolt. 7.1 Accessories to Be Installed for the N68E-22 Cabinet The accessories to be installed for the N68E-22 cabinet are front and back doors, side panels, and the corresponding PGND cables. Side panels need to be installed at both ends of a row of combined cabinets. The side panels are classified into left panels and right panels.

Front and back doors

There are two types of structures for the front and back doors: single-door structure and doubledoor structure. The installation methods are the same.

PGND cables for the doors and side panels

The PGND cables connect the front and back doors as well as side panels to the base of the cabinet.

7.2 Installing the Side Panels for the N68E-22 Cabinet A single N68E-22 cabinet has four side panels, with two side panels on both the left and right sides. When multiple N68E-22 cabinets are combined in a row, a total of four side panels need to be installed at the two ends of the cabinet row. When the N68E-22 cabinet is combined with other types of cabinets, you need to install the side panels where the cabinets are combined.

Prerequisites l

The components required for the installation are available. The required components are the side panels and M6x12 countersunk screws.

The tools required for the installation are available. The required tool is a Phillips screwdriver with a long handle.
