Road accidents occur daily. What is alarming is that the rate of road accidents in our country is rather high. It is imperative that awareness campaigns is carried out, especially in schools. The setting out of road safety clubs in school is a step for the right direction. The Ministry of Education may even step in by making road safety part of the school’s curriculum and at least a compulsory co-curricular activities. Local traffic police can conduct talks on road safety most regularly in schools. In addition, traffic games for schoolchildren should be revived as this can teach the young participants road courtesy and the importance of not breaking traffic roles. Poster competitions on road safety should also be held at all level. The mass media especially television and newspapers have an important role to carry to help curb road accidents. Last but not least, the relevant authorities should come up hard on those who break traffic rules. Hefty fines or even the suspension of their driving license should be imposed.

Read the following text. Then, answer questions (a) – (j). When would you do if you won a million ringgit? Well, this is a common question we are asked from time to time, but have not really given it serious thought. I guess when it really happens, we will have lots of ‘friends’ hanging around for handouts, and receive calls and e-mails from people asking for money for some problems or another. If i had a million ringgit, I would first bur a house for my parents and give them some money so that they can use it for whatever they want. Then, I would give some to charity. Close to my heart are animals and children, so I would donate a generous amount to animal shelters and another portion to charities for abused children. I would also like to give some to my siblings and good friends who have been such an important part of my life. I would like to travel so I will plan some holiday trips with my family. I do not want a car or expensive things for myself. I will save a reasonable portion for my future, especially my education. The difficult part will be deciding the actual amounts. MR. NOBODY I know a funny little man, As quite as a mouse, Who does the mischief that is done In everybody’s house! There’s no one ever sees his face, And yet we all agree That every plate we brake was cracked By Mr. Nobody.
He puts damp wood upon the fire, That kettles cannot boil, His are the feet that bring in mud, And all the carpets soil. The papers always are mislaid Who had them last but he? There’s no one tosses them about, But Mr. Nobody.
‘Tis he who always tears our books, Who leaves the door ajar, He pulls the buttons from our shirts, And scatters pins afar, That squeaking door will always squeak, For, prithee, don’t you see, We leave the oiling to be done By Mr. Nobody.
The finger marks upon the door By none of us are made; We never leave the blinds unclosed, To let the curtains fade; The ink we never spill; the boots That lying round you see Are not our boots – they all belong To Mr. Nobody.

The River The river’s a wanderer, A nomad, a tramp, He doesn't choose any one place To set up his camp.
The river’s a baby, He gurgles and hums, And sounds like he’s happily Sucking his thumbs.
The river’s a winder, Through valley and hill He twists and he turns, He just cannot be still.
The river’s a singer, As he dances along, The countryside echoes The notes of his song.
The river’s a hoarder, And he buries down deep Those little treasures That he wants to keep.
