Definition of

मूषा षा

Ø Musha used to remove doshas from various metals and minerals. Ø They are specially for preparing Bhasmas Ø For the extraction of satvas from Dhatus. Ø i.e. One can eliminates the impurities. 4

Synonyms:Ø Kumudi- Looks like lotus. Ø Crounchika- Crouncha bird. (Mountain) Ø Karhatika- Karahata desh mruttika. Ø Pachani- Pachan of dravyas. Ø Vanhimitra- Intence heat. 5

Samanya Musha Ing:Mruttika– 4 part Burnt Husk1 part Burnt Charcoal Powder 1 part Horse Dung1 part Method of PreparationIngredients are pounded well to make fine powder. Give Bhavana till the paste become soft, smooth & sticky. Made acc. shape by roasting it in fire. Use- Satwapatana of shilajita, vimala.

Adhunika Musha(Modern Crucible):China clay. Shadoo(modelling clay) &Chikkana clay. Kaolin- mountain kaolin in China. Silica- Pure silicate SiO2(Silicon dioxide) Not affected chemically by acids or alkalis. 19

Conclusion: All texts describe different types of Mushas. Mushas necessary for various processes like satvapatana etc. They can withstand high temperatures. In modern times the use of traditional Mushas is declining with the advent of modern crucibles.
