Description

Multiple Sclerosis Nurse’s Report The MS Nursing Service is now working towards a more collaborative service within Barking, Havering & Redbridge. At present I am predominately based at King George Hospital, but as a team of MS Nurses we cover clinics and patients cross-sites. I am also clinically based once a month, advising and supporting junior staff, and students. Dr Jestico and I continue to run an MS Clinic at King George Hospital on a Friday afternoon, looking after those who have just had a new diagnosis, to those with more progressive disease problems. People can access this service via myself if they have any urgent problems, or via their GP with an appointment. I continue to look after those who are unable to get to the hospital setting or who have complex needs, in the community setting. As a combined MS nursing service, our aim is always to offer support, advice and to refer on to various agencies as needed. This support is often ongoing. This year, I will again be working closely with the Welfare Team to ensure that members have the advice and support that they need. I also feel that carers should have ongoing support. This has recently been recognised in meetings that the MS nursing Service has attended. This year, we will aim to look into better service provision for carers needs I will continue to have links with the Marjorie Collins Centre. Please feel free to talk to me at anytime about anything. My Details are as follows: King George Hospital: 0208 970 8047 Mobile: 07989 608 656 Sarah Olyett.
