Description

MOONCHILD Official Walkthrough By Aldorlea Games www.aldorlea.com

Welcome to the world of “Moonchild”, an exciting adventure where a mother has to race against time to save the life of her beloved daughter who has been abducted.

This Strategy Guide contains: • • • •

A detailed walkthrough of the main quest Fully annotated maps The solution of all sidequests Battle strategies and monsters’ weaknesses.

1

CHARACTERS Calypso: she is the heroine of this adventure. Queen of New Haven and the whole territory of Ellewyr, she is determined and courageous. Good with different weapons such as a sword or a staff, she can also wield the magic of Fire and Holy.

Gabriel: Calypso’s bodyguard, he is strong and can equip axes or spears. Unlike his Queen, he doesn’t have any magic. Faithful and loyal, he doesn’t talk much and will do all that is necessary to protect Calypso.

Susanna: talented magician with a quirky personality, Susanna has the ambition to enter the Academy of Magic in Gothway. For that reason, she tries to control an Elemental and develop her skill as a Caller – that is, a magician who can summon creatures to help her. Stardust: she lives in Claw Island and is a true “Gifted” – a descendant of an ancient tribe of magicians. Friend of Calypso, she may be a great help to figure out what could be a much bigger scheme than Calypso originally thought. Jardel: Calypso’s arch-nemesis. The two bloodlines have a past of fighting and Calypso loathes the man. Ruler of Fallensword, he is reputed to be a tyrant who would never hesitate to cold-bloodedly kill someone who gets in his way. And more! MODES Moonchild features 3 different modes of difficulty. Make sure to choose one of them accordingly, depending on your style of playing. Casual (normal) – All characters have 150% of their strength, resistance, speed and mind. They also have 150% of their regular hit rate. Story (easy) - All characters have 200% of their strength, resistance, speed and mind. They also have 200% of their regular hit rate. RPG (hard) - All characters have 100% of their strength, resistance, speed and mind. They also have 100% of their regular hit rate.

2

BAD STATUSES There are several statuses in Moonchild. Make sure to know them so you can face any situation. • • • • • • •

Poisoned: 5% of Life pts lost each turn Silenced: character can’t cast any spell Numb: character is paralyzed Confused: character randomly attacks allies Muddled: 40% Hit Rate Weak: 25% strength, 50% resistance Cursed: 50% attack, physical and magical defense

The water spells Purify and Mega-Purify cure all of them but Weak and Cursed. The fire spell Ritual of the Fire cures Poisoned, Weak and Cursed. The wind spell Winds of Perpetration cures Silenced, Confused, Muddled and Weak. Please note the items Status Balm and Status Shower cure of all of them BUT Weak and Cursed. Hint: a spell that inflicts Weak will automatically cancel Boosted and viceversa. Same pattern for Enchanted and Cursed. GOOD STATUSES It is also possible to increase the stats of your heroes. Watch out, though, as some monsters are able to do the same. • •

Boosted: 200% strength, 150& resistance Enchanted: 150% attack, physical and magical defense

3

WALKTHROUGH Watch the opening sequence. The game starts with Calypso, Gabriel and a mysterious person. Head to Calypso’s room to exit the castle. SECRET PATH This is a short dungeon whose purpose is mostly to warm you up to the game and its gameplay. Monsters shouldn't be too complicated at this point. Explore and check barrels and crates for some nice items. Hint: check location D to discover a secret door and find 300+ gold coins in the bag. NOTE: All equipment items as well as other important items such as those required for quests have been marked in the maps with pink circles!

6

NEW HAVEN Once you are out of the secret path, Calypso will show up in her town (or on the worldmap next to her town if you chose RPG mode). Your mission is to visit your friend in Elvenia so as to fix ??????. Before you head to Elvenia, visit the town of New Haven and make sure to collect money from Gomez (say you are “poorer than he imagines” to get the maximum). It’s location I on the map. You can also find a Bunny Hat in a crate (see pink circle on the map below) – a gear that allows you to dodge physical hits. It can be useful for characters with weak resistance and who do not have much better hats or helmets to equip. Then buy the best weapons and gear possible. Buy one more wooden shield than needed, as a character that will join later will be able to equip it. Also buy 3 gold trinkets in the Ring Shop to equip as accessory. You will probably notice a bookstore as you walk around in town. It sells two books: Book of Inferno and Book of Aura. Calypso will learn Inferno on her own, but you may also be tempted to buy the Book of Inferno for her so to make fights easier early on. The Book of Aura is also excellent if you’ve got enough money left, as Aura is a powerful spell that heals all the party at once. Remember you can always sell outdated weapons to make money. Once you are done with your equipment, make sure to buy about 5-6 Mana potions as well as 5-6 Status Balms. There, you’re ready to go and pay a visit to your elven friend!

9

ELLEWYR WORLDMAP Although Moonchild needs you badly, you may want to explore around and check lakes, trees and dead ends to find items, including a lot of permanents. It is recommended to use them as soon as possible as they can make a difference, especially early in the game. Then head to Elvenia. If you haven’t bought the Book of Aura from the bookstore yet, it may be a good idea to save money for it before you get to the top of the Rock (Elvenia).

14

ELVENIA Get the Master Boots (black pot in the pink circle on the map below) as soon as possible – it is a very good gear that gives a lot of speed. An effective strategy is to make sure Calypso is fast so she can use Inferno on big groups of monsters, such as the 3 renegades elves. The Raflesias are susceptible to fire and will die with one fireball (or one Inferno). This strategy is mana-consuming though, and requires you to have at least 5 Mana Potions. Bear in mind Calypso’s Legacy Brooch restores 2 Mana pts per turn. It can be useful to swap between the boots and the brooch (for easier enemy parties) if needed. In RPG mode, the renegades will try to poison your whole group pretty often, so it may be a good strategy to have Calypso obliterate them with Inferno before they even get the chance to attack. Hint: use your Magic Stones (permanents) on Calypso so she has more Mana Pts and can cast her spells more often.

18

… MEET SUSANNA Find Susanna (G) and give her the wooden shield you bought in advance if you followed the advice in this guide. Susanna is a special character, as she will be able to summon creatures that will help during battles, aside from her own set of spells. Those creatures will be a major asset in a boss fight – or any you have trouble with. Plot-wise, Susanna will warn you that an Earth elemental is blocking the way up on the rock (I). Confront it and beat it. It’s not very difficult and shouldn’t cause much problem unless you are very unlucky. The key strategy is to get rid of the 2 Raflesias first, either by using Inferno or by using Fireball (but it takes longer). Then attack the elemental until it dies. Done? Good job! The elemental will then be summonable by Susanna, like a regular spell. In the game, she will be able to find more elementals (namely wind, fire and water), and she'll also learn to summon new creatures on her own as she levels up.

WHAT’S NEXT? Keep going up the Rock. You'll find a Lamia guarding the entrance of the elven village Dilldel (M). Equip the 3 gold trinkets to Gabriel, Susanna and ??????, so that they are better protected against the Lamia's magical attacks. Calypso can keep the Master Boots. • • • •

During the fight, have Susanna summon her Earth elemental immediately. He will keep attacking the Lamia with his Boulder. Calypso can boost Gabriel and then attack or use items to support her friends. Gabriel can attack or use items. Susanna can cast her wind spell.

If a character dies, especially an important one, make sure to revive them with a Revive Herb, if you have one. They are found in Elvenia and Raflesias have a 12% chance of dropping them, so it is very likely you have a few in your inventory. The Lamia should go down easily following this strategy. The next thing you know, you are in…

L - Connection between maps 5 and 7 M - Boss fight with a Temptress N - To Dilldel

23

DILLDEL Go to the far left of the village (C, under the canopy) and talk to Lynewyll, the Elf in the middle of the wooden structure (D). You'll finally discover ??????'s true identity. Make sure to equip him just after that event as he will have lost all of his equipment during the interview with Lynewyll. There are many sidequests (check on the map: Q2, Q3 etc.) you may want to finish here before moving on with the main quest. See the sidequest section at the end of this guide for more instructions. Big Hint: the store towards the exit of Dilldel (B) sells items at a ridiculously low price. BUY many healing, medical and revive herbs. Many as in, tens of them, if not 99. They may be useful later.

27

NEW HAVEN, HERE WE COME Once you're done with everything, head back to New Haven. Hint: In New Haven, do not talk to the guy on the top/left before you've talked to everyone else. Save just before if you're unsure who is who. One of the optional characters you can talk to will give you a cool item. Follow the latest events. Gabriel temporarily leaves and a boat takes you to Claw Island with Kenneth and Susanna. A part of the boat is explorable. There are chests and items hidden in barrels and crates. Calypso can also get a permanent Life and Mind boost if she gets outside on the small bridge and walks to the extreme right of it (see maps below for details).

CLAW ISLAND You’ve finally arrived! Explore Windheim to get some sidequests and a few hidden items. You need to enter the house on the top/right to move on with the main quest and find a new character, Rupert. Rupert is a good spellcaster specialized in Water and Wind spells. He can deal a lot of damage if you purchase the Book of Splash for him, but this is also a spell he will learn on his own, only later. Your call whether to use the book on him or not! Hint: check the bookshelf in Stardust’s house to find an Old Notebook.

34

WHAT NOW? Calypso believes Stardust will be in the temple of the Gifted, so this is where you are going. Before heading out of the town, make sure to have everyone in your party balanced in terms of equipment. In particular, check nobody has their PDF and MDF too low, otherwise they could get killed too easily. Mammoth coats are good protective gear at this point. Master Boots are also worthy purchases as they make you fast and speed is important to deal damage first. Kill before you get killed, if you prefer! Exit Windheim and go to Reven Niega. Hint: Purchase all the Health Perfumes from the Item Shop. They may come in handy later. CLAW ISLAND WORLD MAP The monsters shouldn’t be much of a problem, especially if you use your spells. Make sure to check frozen lakes and dead ends for interesting items. Your destination is in the middle of the frozen woods. On your way, visit the temple to pick Quest 08.

37

Temple of the Eternal Snow

Q8 - Oliver wants you to recover the temple's tablet!

38

REVEN NIEGA Stardust is missing and Calypso has great hopes that she will find her in this place. That said, if you are able to, solve the puzzles on your way! First you need to check the purple throne on the left on the very first room (B) when you enter the shrine. A Corrupter will attack you. • • •

Have Susanna summon her Earth Elemental. Have Rupert use his Poisoning Rain until the Corrupter gets poisoned. Have Calypso use Boost on Kenneth.

If you haven’t used the Book of Aura, it may be a good idea to use it now. Calypso is a good choice BUT she will naturally get it at LV35. Rupert won’t get it and can learn it, so he may be the best choice, although he does get a large healing spell at some point. The Aura spell will help you keep everyone alive if needed, especially in case of a large damaging spell. Depending on how well you manage against the enemies, you may want to just save the book for now. Once the enemy is dead, proceed deeper in the temple. There are a couple of levers you need to switch ON, please check the maps below for further details. Switch the lever in E and make sure to kill a second Corrupter in I. That will be enough for you to reach Stardust, which you can do from the stairs in J. All the other levers are optional but you may want to switch them ON/OFF to explore Reven Niega fully.

39

Monsters can damage you badly if you don’t kill them fast enough. Try to have everybody be as fast as they can. • Mimics are fairly resistant but do not have a lot of Life pts. They are susceptible to Wind and Dark spells but their strong resistance may be too much for lower spells to really cause a big damage. They can cast Earthquake (a large damaging spell) so try to kill them fast. • Minotaurs have close to 300 Life pts but are very susceptible to Water. If you bought the Book of Splash and gave it to someone, that someone can probably kill a minotaur in one go with Water Splash. Fire also does decent damage to them. If they attack a “weak” character such as Susanna, they can deal a lot of damage, so be careful with them! • Succubuses are fast and dodge a lot. They are also resistant to fire, but any spell from any other element will do nice damage to them. Another nasty thing that they can do is inflict Confused. Always be on your guard when fighting them. At some point, you will also have to fight a Wind Elemental. Well, it’s optional, but you may want to do it anyway. This Elemental is very susceptible to Earth so make sure to summon your Earth Elemental and have it attack the other one!

44

STARDUST You get a very powerful character at the end of Reven Niega. Once you've found Stardust, either backtrack to Windheim or use Calypso's Teleport spell if you want to be faster. Get Mammoth Furs for characters who haven’t got a good armor yet, if any. Hint: if you do not use teleport and walk all the way back instead, Stardust will be able to unlock a magical gate that was locked before (see L on the maps below). The enemies inside are pretty tough and will attempt to curse and confuse your whole party almost all the time. The trick is to equip characters with Night Gloves and temporarily kick out of the party anyone who can’t (so they do not attack you if they get confused). Have the remaining ones also equip very defensive items so they can resist the somewhat powerful hits of the enemies. Susanna should always summon an Elemental to help. The Cockatrice is good if she has learned to summon it. This part of Reven Niega is totally optional but holds very nice treasures if you are able to defeat the monks guarding them, so give it a try and see what you can do.

48

TITAN CAVE The next part of your adventure takes you to Titan Cave where a friend of Kenneth is allegedly waiting for you. An effective party for this cave is: Calypso-Rupert-Kenneth-Stardust. Susanna can replace any of them as a good asset though, especially for boss fights. You will have to fight Ancient Warriors and Chimeras along the way to Kenneth’s friend. •

The first ones are susceptible to Fire and Earth, but most importantly, they also have a 100% chance of being confused. If Stardust is LV22, she can do Stigmata to confused one of them. That said, if your party is strong, you may want to just kill them directly without bothering about confusing them, but it can be a good strategy to confuse the Ancient Warrior when it is paired with a Chimera. Chimeras are stronger creatures with some nasty spells (like Earthquake) and a very powerful physical attack. On the plus side, they are susceptible to Dark spells and can be silenced with a 100% chance. It means if Rupert is faster and casts Seas of Silence, any Chimera preparing a spell will just pass its turn. However, they will attack during the next one, so make sure to kill them before if you do not want to suffer the consequences!

ANOTHER ELEMENTAL… The cave is also the host of a Fire Elemental (essential to complete Q09). It is extremely susceptible to Water, but do NOT use Wind spells against it. Or fire ones, but that’s pretty trivial. These two will regenerate it. A good Water spell will have devastating consequences though. Explore the cave (see maps below) and check the broken pots to find good items and equipment. Use permanents as you find them, as they do make a big difference.

49

Before you can reach the titan place, you will have to defeat a very pesky snake called Killer Snake. This one is very dangerous and does not even warn when it attacks you! It is only susceptible to Earth and nothing else. It can however be Weakened (80%) or Cursed (40%). What makes this monster tough is that it will counter all physical hits and attempt to numb you each turn. This makes the fight a whole lot more complicated. Use the following party: Calypso-Rupert-Kenneth-Susanna • • • •

If Kenneth is LV23, have him cast Mega-Boost immediately. Susanna can summon the Earth Elemental or the Cockatrice. Calypso can try to Weaken the snake. Rupert has to be on his guard and use Purify whenever a character is numb. If he is the one getting numb, have someone else use a Status Balm for him, or Susanna be the one to Purify.

It is usually effective to attack the snake with Kenneth when Kenneth is boosted and the snake is weakened. If you want to try an alternate strategy, you can try to curse the snake with Stardust. If you get lucky, this is also very effective. Hint: Light Gloves protect from Numbness. Check if you have one and try to equip it to someone for this specific fight only.

MY FRIEND DABBABBU Get rid of the stupid snake and proceed to the “town” of the Titans. Dabbabbu will be hanging around aimlessly and join easily after a talk. Explore the Town Hall. The inn (E) is not very well indicated but to get a good night’s rest, you will have to talk to one of the Titans downstairs. Also check the shop (D) upstairs. It is good but you may not have the money to buy everything. Beheaders (gifted with a 1st strike feature) are excellent for Dabbabbu (but he has one already) and Gabriel. Hint: speed matters EVEN if you have first strike. Speed influences accuracy. A character with low speed will miss often. Do not neglect this stat. Master Boots or Wind Boots are an easy way to get some decent speed to a character. Another good gear worth purchasing is the Nord Helmet. It protects well and isn’t too pricey for what it brings on the table in terms of stats. Hint: you’ll find a key if you check the helmet on the right of the Town Hall twice. Use it wisely!

58

LEAVING TITAN CAVE Kenneth’s friend has joined, so you’re all set to leave and head for Fallensword. Overall, it will be easier than the first time to go through the cave. You now have Dabbabbu and have probably bought a couple of new gear as well. It would have been totally easier if it wasn’t for a duo of Killer Snakes waiting for you, probably to avenge their brother that you shamelessly slaughtered the first time round. Dabbabbu is a good asset in this fight, as he is naturally immune to Numb. If Rupert is LV29, he is also very effective as he can use Mega-Purify in case 2 or more allies are Numb. The strategy is to focus on one snake then get rid of the other one. Make sure to have good protective gears and to boost your fighters, either with Calypso’s Boost or Kenneth’s Mega-Boost (faster). Use Healing Potions if a character gets low in Life pts. You want to avoid any of them getting killed.

59

FALLENSWORD What has to be done has to be done, and Calypso enters the realm of her arch-nemesis Jardel. But it is not him she has to fear the most at first. Fallensword is full of bandits and scoundrels that won’t hesitate a second to slaughter you. Large damaging spells are good against them, especially since the female enemies (Nadjiirs) dodge so often. Beware, though – the assassins are very fast and they can also throw large damaging spells at your face. The trick is to be faster than them, so try to achieve this by equipping the proper gear. Killer Monks are also fairly susceptible to Fire. Before you can reach Hallmark, you will have to defeat Kommandant and his minions (near D). His minions will go down fast if you use the proper spells and are faster than them. Killing Kommandant is a matter of persistence. He doesn’t do anything else but a single attack. He also has a small chance (20%) to be cursed.

HALLMARK Jardel catches you almost as soon as you get in Hallmark. As a direct result, Calypso and Stardust are separated from the rest of the party. Your party is now: Jardel – Calypso – Stardust. Make sure you equip yourself wisely before proceeding to the Oracle. This includes, if possible: • A Master Bow for Stardust • Good shields – the gear shopkeeper actually has a lot of them. You may want to purchase the Ocean one. If you’ve got spare money, put it all at the bank. The bank has interest rates but interest doesn’t rise with time. It rises with each battle fought. Other places of interest are the bookstore, which sells two interesting books, and the stone shop, for permanents that you can buy and use immediately.

66

THE ORACLE The monsters in the Oracle can be quite nasty, especially the big demons called O’hrs. They have a lot of Life pts (more than 700), can curse you all and hit very hard. They are susceptible to Holy spells though, so Holy Rain (Stardust) will cause them great damage. They can also be silenced (80%) or weakened (40%). If they do end up cursing you, either try to escape to restart the fight, or finish them off with spells, since Cursed doesn’t affect your capacity to cast spells. There are other monsters in the Oracle. Here are some good tips against them. Ancient Scorpions are a bit tough but will go down fast if you’ve got 1 or 2 Master Bows equipped. They can poison you, though, so you will have to use the Medical Herbs you hopefully bought in Dilldel. Death Garlands are weak to fire – Great Balls of Fire (Calypso) can do wonders against them. Basically kill them all one after the other. Stardust’s Holy Rain is very useful in that area so make sure to buy Mana Potions too. How to progress in the Oracle? Look at the maps carefully. The goal is to find Hourglasses of Time so you can insert them into holes having their shapes and then progress. You need to enter the 2nd tower first (C), then the 1st (B, to get good items), then the 3rd (D). There, in the 3rd “tower” (D), you will have to fight Conception (N), the guardian of the Oracle. But first make sure to have Om join you, by using the Old Notebook found in Stardust’s house near the ghost-type creature. Hint: Om cannot equip anything on his head except the Bunny Hat. It’s probably a good idea to save one for him. Conception is powerful but has a huge double-weakness: he is susceptible to both Weak (speaking of weakness…) and Cursed. Calypso can use Weaken, Stardust can use Curse. Inflict both and shamelessly pound your enemy into submission! You get an Oracle Shield for this fight, which is a great gear for Susanna (when she comes back), as she hasn’t got much choice for shields. Step into the room behind Conception and talk to the Oracle by clicking on it (universe-looking window) right in the middle.

HALLMARK UNDERGROUND After the events in the Oracle, the game switches to the rest of the party. You are now with: Kenneth – Susanna – Gabriel – Rupert.- Dabbabbu Equip them as best as you can, then search crates, barrels etc. There is a lot to find in this underground, and what you find can be used to complete your characters’ equipment, if needed. Regular guards aren’t too hard (although they can hit hard) but generals are nastier. Both can be killed in one go with either the Heart Picker or the Beheader (60%). This means if Gabriel or Dabbabbu hit with a Beheader (which is pre-emptive), they have a chance to kill their enemy instantly – quite a good deal when you want to escape a jailhouse infested with guards! They are also susceptible to most status ailments at fairly high rates (60 or 80%). Guards drop Health Potions (37%) and Generals Revive Flasks (13%). Both are useful to keep your party at bay. Hint: In location D, you will have to fight 3 Killer Snakes. Make sure to equip gear with high defensive points and to use Kenneth’s Mega-Boost and Rupert’s Mega-Purify if needed. Susanna can help with one of her creatures – the Earth Elemental is a good choice, but feel free to try “advanced” creatures if she has any.

ELEMENTAL TIME This place is also the place where you can find Susanna’s last Elemental, mandatory to complete Q09. It’s a Water Elemental. It is very susceptible to Fire and fairly susceptible to Dark. Even more interesting – it has a 100% chance to get Poisoned (so use Poisonous Rain!) and a 80% chance of being cursed.

79

Next, exit this place and keep going towards the exit of the underground. About 3/4 into it, you will see a pool of water (I) – drinking from it will restore a bit of your health. It’s unlimited, so go for it!! Once you get close to the exit, the enemy side will set free a dragon (okay… a Fallensword Guivre) to attack you. Don’t freak out! The dragon actually has weaknesses. It is susceptible to Wind and you WANT to weaken it immediately since it has a 80% chance of getting it. Keep it “weak” all through the fight and annihilate it! Once you’ve done that, both parties will merge. You are ready to head for Inog Maho Daar. If you do so, try to get at least 20 Mana Potions, as this place will require you to use Mana a lot. Hint: Outside of Hallmark is waiting Jardel’s dragon. This legendary creature will take you anywhere you’ve already visited. It’s a good way to finish pending quest and/or get new ones, such as Q15.

F - To map 2 I - Water with healing properties - drink as much as needed! J - Boss Fight! K - To Hallmark Castle Area

81

INOG MAHO DAAR Head to the “black fortress” South of Hallmark. You first have a mini boss fight involving 3 Gargoyles, which shouldn’t be too hard if your party is well equipped. Then, Stardust will break the seal, allowing you inside. • You will immediately be attacked by Ifrits. Susanna’s Water Elemental or Rupert’s Water Splash (single) or Tidal Wave (large) will probably get rid of them in one blow. The trick, therefore, is to have these two characters faster than the Ifrits (it’s easier with Rupert who is naturally pretty fast). • Cerberuses are also pretty fast and can attack 3 times. But Stardust does wonderfully against them with her Holy Rain. • Unholy Knights are probably the most difficult of the bunch. They can be numbed (60%) though and will suffer decent damage from Water spells. If you want to confuse them, they even have a 80% chance of getting it! To confuse without using a single spell, you may want to equip a succubus rod, if you’ve still got one. A balanced party for this part of the game could be: Susanna-Stardust-Calypso-Kenneth Susanna will have to deal with the Ifrits, as said before, ESPECIALLY if Rupert is not in your party. But probably any combination is good, as long as it involves a good spellcaster. It is to be noted that Beheaders and Heart Pickers have a mild chance to kill Ifrits instantly (40%).

82

TO EXPLORE OR NOT TO EXPLORE This place is… big. You may choose to explore Inog Maho Daar to find items and equipments. If you do so, unless your party is very powerful, you may want to return to Hallmark at some point and refill your stock of Mana Potions. Later in Inog Maho Daar, you will have to fight Zamfirs, Beholders and Star Priests. Zamfirs can be extremely dangerous especially if they get enchanted. However, if Susanna has learned to summon the Reaper, she will want to do it to curse all the Zamfirs in one go. To make it effective, ensure that she is faster than them. Star Priests are not very hard to kill but should be killed fast as they can group-enchant. Beholders can be quite nasty with their death spells. They are susceptible to Wind and Death spells and their Life pts are relatively low (about 300) BUT on the other hand their MDF is high. Master Bows will deal good damage to them. They can also be poisoned very easily (80%). Progress in Inog Maho Daar by defeating all the Zamfirs on your way. Remember to curse them with Susanna’s Reaper. Have Kenneth cast MegaBoost if needed, especially against big groups of them.

She can however curse your characters so if she does, one of the only way to get rid of it is to use Ritual of the Fire. Curse affects more characters fighting with their weapon (since it halves Attack). J - To map 9 Hint – There is plenty to discover in the dark-tiled parts of Inog Maho Daar, so try to explore it all! You can notably find Dragon Armors.

FORBIDDEN CHAMBER You’ve made it to the final dungeon. Great job, but it’s not over yet. This eerie place looks fairly empty at first, but as you will soon discover, some parts of it are infested with zombies and skeletons – the zombies being the nastier of the bunch! • Skeletons will all die with Holy Rain (Stardust or Calypso). • Zombies, as aforementioned, are much tougher. Holy Rain or any high Fire spell will damage them greatly though. Dark ones are good too. If you attack them physically, make sure your character has a good attack and defense, as they will fight back automatically. Susanna’s Bahamut (which she gets at Lv42) will do great against zombies if her level is high enough to summon him. The big green ogres (Mauls) have a huge weakness: they have 40% chance of suffering an instant death from Beheaders and weapons that cause Death in general (like the Heart Picker). If you get lucky you can kill one in one blow.Otherwise, strong wind spells will kill them pretty fast too (and attack all the zombies if you use the large damaging one). In order to reach the central room of the Forbidden Chamber, you will have to switch some levers ON and fight some zombies (among others). See the maps for further details. It is good training though, as they are worth a lot of experience points.

FINAL SCENE Soooo you’ve reached the central room and have clicked on the grey book lying on the floor (location 9 on the map above)… WAIT!!! Don’t read the book until you’ve equipped ALL your characters as well as possible. Make sure to give an Archwizard Bandana to Gabriel so he can resist spells better (not his forte…) when his turn to fight comes. Or at least some equipment that increase is MDF a lot. You are ready for a series of 5 fights. Fortunately, your characters will be fully healed at times. PART 1: The first two fights involve Kenneth-Dabbabbu-Susanna-Om versus a bunch of Zamfirs and then Stardust plus another bunch of Zamfirs. Remember to use the Reaper to curse the Zamfirs. The Book of Massive Curse from the Hallmark bookstore can also teach a character Massive Curse for the same result. Stardust has a bit more than 1000 Life pts “only”. She has a 80% chance of getting weakened, but she is real fast, so she could cause trouble if she gets lucky and kill an important member. Water spells (good ones…) will damage her. PART 2: The third fight involves Kenneth-Susanna-Rupert vs Starmoth and a bunch of zombies. Obviously get rid of the zombies first (Bahamut is excellent at it, if Susanna is able to summon him). Starmoth is strong (about 6500 Life pts) BUT has a fair chance to be poisoned (40%), so go for it. It is also susceptible to Earth and Holy spells. No chance to weaken or curse it, so don’t even bother trying. Ruper may want to use Morning Dew to heal all the party at once, but it restores only about 30 Life pts. If you need a bigger healing, use one of the Health Perfumes you have bought in Windheim, but try to save several (5-10) of them for the last fight. PART 3: The fourth and fifth (ie final) fights involve Calypso-Jardel-Gabriel-Kenneth vs a bunch of Zamfirs and Stardust in her semi-goddess form. Stardust will periodically revive several Zamfirs and Star Priests especially early on in the fight. Don’t give up and keep killing them. The frequency of it will decrease drastically after turn 10-15.

98

When fighting many Zamfirs, make sure Kenneth can cast Mega-Boost. Stardust can be cursed (100%!!). Keep her cursed the whole time. Don’t bother with other status ailments, none will work. She is weak to Dark spells and physical hits. She is able to do some large damaging spells so use the Health Perfumes whenever needed. Revive aquifoliums are also wonderful if 2 or more friends are dead (it’s useless for 4 or more, though…). USE ALL YOUR ITEMS (whenever needed, of course…) AS THIS IS THE LAST FIGHT! In particular, large healing ones. Done with Stardust and her minions?

CONGRATULATIONS!! You’ve finished Moonchild. Relax and enjoy the ending scene.
