SFN (Single Frequency Network) SFN is a network where several transmitters simultaneously send the same signal over the same frequency band.
Super Cell works in the same way as SFN
How to activate SFN modelling in Atoll In Atoll.ini (located in the same directly of Atoll.exe), add the 2 lines [Calculations] SignalCombining = 1 * Restart of Atoll application is required after modifying the Atoll.ini file.
Add the following custom field to the Transmitters table:
Defining Transmitter Clusters Enter in the TX_CLUSTER field the name of the transmitter which is the coordinator for all the transmitters of the same cluster.
Defining the Cell Power accordingly if power splitter is used at the RU level Transmitters table in Atoll
Example:
Define the name of coordinator transmitter
Cells table in Atoll
Define the split cell power
All the cells in the same cluster use same frequency and PCI
Calculating Coverage Predictions Using Transmitter Clustering Once the transmitter cluster is defined, you can calculate the LTE coverage predictions taking into account the defined cluster for signal combination
RSRP Coverage with and without cluster
RSRP coverage without Clustering
RSRP coverage with Clustering ➔ SFN = Super Cell configuration
Signals from different RRHs are combined
Best Server Plot with and without Cluster
Best Server coverage without Clustering Individual server identification of each RRH
Best Server coverage with Clustering ➔ SFN = Super Cell configuration
Best server is the coordinated transmitter
PDSCH SINR Coverage with and without Cluster
PDSCH SINR coverage without Clustering Severe interference due to co-channel and co-PCI configuration
PDSCH SINR coverage with Clustering ➔ SFN = Super Cell configuration
No interference between RRHs because they are logically belong to the same cell
Throughput Coverage with and without Cluster
DL Peak RLC channel th roughput coverage without Clustering Low throughput due to the poor SINR
DL Peak RLC channel throughput coverage with Clustering ➔ SFN = Super Cell configuration
