METHODOLOGY FOR REPLACEMENT OF BEARINGS

Tricon Polymers Pvt Ltd

METHODOLOGY FOR REPLACEMENT OF BEARNGS FOR GCA STADIUM:• Maximum Load coming on the bearing for one span shall be calculated. • Hydraulic jacks of suitable capacity with factor of safety to be calculated considering 2 or 4 jacks Per Span (For Example if 2 jacks are considered for a total load of 40 MT, then each jack shall have a capacity of 30 MT with a factor of safety of 1.5 (i.e. 40 / 2 x 1.5). • Height of jack shall be in such a manner that it can be placed between the soffit of the Beam (Which is resting on the bearing) and the top of the corbel or supporting arrangement (over which jack has to be placed). • Wherever work space is not available in the corbel then external staging or other supporting arrangements shall be provided. • Remove expansion joint arrangement (Where ever required). • Ensure span is free of any other obstructions. • Keep ready the arrangement. • Take all safety precautions before commencement of works. • Place the Jacks at the appropriate jacking locations. • Connect the Jacks to the common manifold. • Operate the power pack slowly and lift the span by 6 to 10 mm so that bearings are getting free. • Take out the bearings and clean the area. • Place the new bearings on the Corbels / pedestals to its true Orientations. • Lower the span on the bearings. • Repeat the same for other spans. • Restore expansion joints where ever required. • Remove the staging arrangements and clear the area.
