Blakiston's Pocket Medical Dictionary. New York: McGraw-Hill, 1973, 964 PP. This updated version of a medical dictionary standard contains many new words including selections from the United States Adopted Names as well as drug trade names. Two changes I found convenient include the printing of a group phrase, such as Marfan's syndrome, in i t s alphabetical listing of M, rather than under S for syndrome, and having entries set in bold face type and divided into syllables. The appendix contains the usual tables of muscles, nerves, arteries, veins and bones. In addition, I would like to see included tables of metric and apothecary measurements as well as centigrade and fahrenheit equivalents. Although listed as a pocket dictionary the size of the book would make it difficult to carry in a pocket or purse.
