Short Description

Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer, Quality Engineer with 3 years experience looking for a Entry-level position....

Description

Objective To pursue a full-time engineering position in manufacturing, quality control, in spection and design. Qualifications * 3 years of close-to-industry working experience on Quality Control, Manufactur ing and Design * Ability to apply Six Sigma (Green belt) and Lean procedures to maintain qualit y standards. * Possess strong problem solving and analytical skills. * Developed excellent presentation and communication skills while working on pro jects with various companies. * Experience in involvement and leading cross functional teams. Software Skills CAD/CAM Software AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Pro/ENGINEER, I-DEAS, ANSYS, Cima tron, Rapidform Programming Languages C, C++, PHP, DBMS, MATLAB, LabVIEW Internet/Web Technologies HTML, Dream Weaver Presentation Skills Microsoft Office suite Other Maple, Minitab Education * Master of Science GPA: 3.50 (4.0 Scale) Mechanical Engineering, Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina. * Bachelor of Technology GPA: 8.63 (10.0 Scale) Mechanical Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India. Professional Experience November 2008 - February 2010 Graduate Research Assistant, CUICAR, Clemson University (Project Sponsor(s): Nippon Steel Corporation) Worked on developing "Automated Steel Sheet Evaluation" to evaluate the quality of zinc coated steel sheets used in automotive industry. Was leading the project team that developed novel imaging techniques capable of scanning steel sheets, in real-time and contactless faction. New processing subroutines for self calibr ation and data compression are developed for easy use in real time applications. This research reduces the cost of scrap and improves the product/process reliab ility, in addition it enables a 100% quality check and detects any defectives at the source. August 2007 - December 2009 Graduate Research Assistant, CUICAR, Clemson University (Project Sponsor(s): Toyota) Worked on "Detection of mis-alignment of the sealant in the hem joints" using th ermal imaging techniques funded by Toyota Motor Engineering(TEMA), to develop ex perimental procedures to detect mis-alignment of sealant in the hem joints of do or panels. Design of experiments is carried out using available design tools lik e Solid Works. Responsible for developing, designing inspection methods using th e available heat sources and thermal imaging cameras. The developed inspection m ethod is implemented in the production line of Toyota manufacturing plant which reduced the inspection time needed. January 2008 - December 2008 Graduate Student,

CUICAR, Clemson University (Project: Course Project) Worked on projects dealing with Plant Layout Strategies, Value Stream Mapping (V SM) and using skills needed for manufacturing defects root cause analysis, and f aulty process/material interaction FMEA analysis to optimize a given production scenario in the project. Microsoft Excel is used to carry out all the calculati ons needed for optimization of the plant layout and workers needed to finish eac h job in the production line. October 2008 - December 2009 Graduate Research Assistant, CUICAR, Clemson University (Project Sponsor(s): Timken) Worked on "Stress analysis of heat affected zone of bearing cage" in collaborati on with Timken to calculate the stress values of the bearing cage at the heat ef fected area. Was leading the team of three that calculated stress levels using M ATLAB at the heat affected zone of bearing cage for various loads applied using MTS machine. The calculated stress values are then validated against Finite Elem ent Analysis (FEA) simulation using ANSYS and average variation is found to be 4 .2%. May 2008 - December 2008 Graduate Research Assistant, CUICAR, Clemson University (Project Sponsor(s): Plastic Omnium) Worked on "Detection of the surface defects of automotive fenders using Combined Active Triangulation" in collaboration with Plastic Omnium. Experimental proced ure is developed to scan surface of fender using laser sheet. Responsible for de veloping Combined Active Triangulation routine used to analyze the captured lase r scan in MATLAB. The repeatability of 0.01 mm for the depth and 0.11 mm for t he width is obtained between the different scans from the developed system. The developed system is validated using available commercial 3D scanner. Various CAD tools such as Solid Works and Rapidform are used for modeling and analysis. January 2007 - May 2007 UnderGrad Research Assistant, VIT University (Project Sponsor(s): DRDO) "Offline Acoustic Emission Data Analysis System" is developed to catalog, store and analyze the Acoustic Emission data obtained in Acoustic Emission Testing. La bVIEW software is used to acquire AE data from the sensor. This data is stored i n the database using Oracle DBMS. This stored data is catalogued using DBMS oper ations. The data is then retrieved using LabVIEW for Online and Offline analysis . May 2006 Engineering - Intern, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL), India Intern Project was carried out on "Investment Casting for Manufacturing of Turbi ne Blades and Nozzle Guide Vanes". Modifications to the manufacturing processes are proposed which increased the acceptance rate of the turbine blades and reduc ed the scrap rate in the plant. Won best Trainee award for the project.
