STATEMENT OF PURPOSE “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” -Harold R. McAlindon

Leadership, there has always been a long lasted debate weather Leaders are born or are they made and, there have been examples of both circumstances. I believe that every human being is a born leader, but it is the circumstances and opportunities which would make him exhibit the leader in him. I would also go with the words of John Quincy Adams, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader”. So, according to me, leadership mainly starts with first inspiring the people around us. I Ashmi Gandhi. V, born in a society which has diverse cultures and always expects the best out of a person, has always been motivated to be an achiever and a person who aspires to reach great heights in life. Right from my childhood, I have been an exceptional performer, in whatever I endured. I always had a desire of an entrepreneur and a spirit of leadership in me. I think one of my most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I posses. I am an Information Technology student with the flair for different kinds of Arts. I also have a passion for travelling and understanding different cultures of the World. Starting from my Childhood, my parents have groomed me to be an all-rounder, to excel in academic and in all extra-co curricular activities. I excel in one of the oldest form of Classical dance of India in Bharathanatyam. Learning this art for 14 years has brought a Self discipline within me and has thought me the roots of Indian Tradition and culture. Also, I have learnt that persistence and perseverance are the 2 magical words to complete anything you want to achieve. My Interests in arts did not stop only in this; I also learnt Indian Classical Music and Painting. Other Co curricular activities of mine include, Roller Skating, Swimming, Athletics, Volley Ball, Throw Ball, Shuttle, Tenni coit, Flower arrangement, Flower Carpet, Rangoli, Fancy Dress, Fashion Show and many more. All these Interests in Sports and Cultural’s have helped me in representing the Students as the School pupil leader and in other inter-school competitions. I was actively involved in the NSS (National Service Scheme) cadet of my College, where we had the chance to meet and serve the needy people and the kids of the villages. My Engineering degree has given a strong foundation to my analytical and management skills, since Information Technology involves lot of knowledge in Technology and math Skills. Over the past 3 years, I have been working in Wipro Technologies. Starting my carrier as a Project Engineer, was trained in SAP and worked with diverse group of teams in various projects. Then I grew to the role of Operations and HR Executive. This growth was tremendous and helped me in learning exactly how a business is run. Joining the Leadership team in Wipro as an Ops and HR person has really turned me to be a better person and inspired my Childhood dream to pursue my higher studies. More than what I have studied in school and college, it has been these experiences that have shaped the person that I am today.

All this has sowed me with the Leadership and Management qualities that require being a socially responsible person towards my nation and people. I got an inspiration to work for the development and the empowerment of the youth from my past experience in working with many self help groups and NGO groups. I strongly believe in the role of youth in building a great future for a nation. I have always had a desire to believe as socially responsible entrepreneur, who serves in the development and empowerment of the youth and the nation. And I feel that I would achieve my heart’s desire through the field of Education and given by the recent statistics Indian education sector would give a great mileage to an entrepreneur.  According to the National Knowledge Commission there is a requirement of at least 1500 Universities.  Indians Spends 4 Billion Dollars every year on Higher Education. 

And going by the market size of Indian educational sector

Private professional colleges

- 7 Billion Dollars

 Engineering

- 5.5 Billion Dollars

 Medical

- 473 Billion Dollars

MBA

- 731 Billion Dollars (Source - Techno Park, CLSA, FICCI Report)

Given the market size and the market value, I strongly believe with leadership and entrepreneurship skills, I would successfully establish a non-profit organization & be a socially responsible entrepreneur. Hence given a chance to develop my management skills & an opportunity to be in a multi-cultural environment, I would gain a great mileage in being a successful entrepreneur. I after completing my MBA, I would like to open a non-profit organization, which would be an eye Opener for most of the Kids of India. The 2 Quotes of Robert Frost that always inspires me and drives me are “I shall be telling this with a sigh, Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less travelled by,

And that has made all the difference”. & “The Woods are Lovely dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And Miles to go before I Sleep, And Miles to go before I Sleep”

Thank you.
