Drawing Exercise 1 - Hook SELF ASSESSMENT Suggested Main Commands to Use: CIRCLE, LINE, FILLET and TRIM

Drawing Instructions Set appropriate Drawing Limits (420,297) and Units. Dimensions not required on the final drawing. Tip:

Firstly using a Continuous linetype, draw the framework representing the Centre Lines, then complete the drawing.

Drawing Exercise 2 - Template SELF ASSESSMENT Suggested Main Commands to Use: ELLIPSE, CIRCLE, ARRAY and FILLET

Drawing Instructions Set appropriate Drawing Limits (297,210) and Units. Dimensions not required on the final drawing. Tip:

Firstly using a Continuous linetype, draw the framework representing the Centre Lines, then complete the drawing.

Drawing Exercise 3 - Bathroom Layout Target Drawing

Figure 01

Drawing Instructions 1

Close down all other drawings. Start a new drawing and save it as EX3.DWG. Set appropriate values for DRAWING LIMITS and UNITS.

2

Using the information given in Figure 02, draw the Bathroom Layout to look like that shown in the Target Drawing as follows:

3

Use appropriate values for any dimensions not given.

4

Draw the wall section using a Polyline with a width of 10.

5

Draw the bath using a line, circle and two tangent lines.

6

Use the TRIM command to remove the circle section inside the bath.

7

Use the ELLIPSE command to draw the basin, using the axis, end option by specifying the axis endpoints and the other axis distance. To position the basin, the minor axis endpoint adjacent to the wall should be specified first, then the position of the other endpoint of the minor axis. The other axis distance to be entered should be half the length of the major axis.

Section 09-6

Draw the tank of the WC as a rectangular shape, such that the 700mm line at 250mm from the wall is in two parts (ie. broken at its mid-point).

9

Draw an ellipse with the major axis at a distance of 300mm from the wall.

10

Draw the fillets with a 100mm radius between the lines of the tank and the WC ellipse.

11

Use the TRIM command to remove the unwanted parts of the ellipse.

12

Using DTEXT (single line text), add the text where shown in Figure 01, using Simplex font and a suitable height.

Drawing Exercise 4 - Vee Pulley Target Drawing

Figure 01

Drawing Instructions

Section 09-8

1

Start a new drawing and save it as EX4.DWG, and set the LIMITS to 297,210 and UNITS to 1 decimal place precision.

2

Draw the part pulley drawing illustrated in Figure 02 using the LINE command.

3

Move the part pulley to a position near the top left-hand corner of the drawing.

4

Using the COPY command with the Multiple option, select the part pulley by Window. Using a base point of the top left-hand corner as shown, place the drawing three times across the screen using the endpoint of line 'A' as the second point of displacement.

5

Draw a horizontal line in Continuous linetype, through the lower line end-points to represent the centre line.

6

Using the EXTEND command, select the centre line as the boundary edge, then extend all vertical lines to this edge.

7

Using the STRETCH command, select by Crossing Window the line representing the edge of the pulley and stretch it outwards by 3mm. Repeat on the other end.

8

OFFSET the centre line upwards by 9mm to form the top half of the shaft.

9

BREAK this line into three parts at the intersections where the vertical edges of the pulley cross the shaft.

10

Using GRIP EDITING, change the shaft linetype inside the pulley to HIDDEN and the centre line to CENTER.

11

Set an appropriate value for the global Line Type Scale (LTSCALE).

12

Use the MIRROR command to mirror the pulley about the centre line. When selecting the pulley, do not include the centre-line in the selection set.

13

Use the ARC command with the 3 Point option to form the broken ends of the shaft.

14

HATCH the broken ends of the shaft where shown.

15

Dimension the final drawing.
