MISKIN THEATRE BTEC LEVEL 4 HNC IN PERFORMING ARTS (QCF) 2015 – 2016

Assignment Feedback Formative Feedback & Observations (Assessor To Actor) Weekly Log Of PTP:  At present your weekly PTP log is very inconsistent in its content. Some areas of your log clearly highlight your physical limitations, capabilities and understanding of how to make much needed improvements to your exercise plan and personal lifestyle. Other areas of your work are focussing too heavily on how you felt about each exercise rather than how it impacted you physically and what you were able to achieve.  You must ensure that your log is a detailed account of how your body is physically changing over the process. What are you able to do now that you have completed another week of your PTP? Scrapbook:  Your scrapbook should serve as a visceral expression of your journey as an artist throughout your training. It should not simply become an evidence book of each process. When adding something to your scrapbook you should always consider the following: - If you were look back at it in ten years’ time would you remember how you felt at the time and what you learnt? - Would you still be inspired or moved by the content? - Does the scrapbook reflect your journey and you personally? - Are you proud of it? Rehearsals & Workshops:  Very strong exploration of physicality.  Good strength throughout the body.  Curious exploration of impulse work.  Must work hard to ensure that you are consistent with making your explorations impulsive. At times you tend to restrict your movement by trying to pre-plan.  Very confident approach to working on solo material.  Very dynamic physicality and use of space.  Extremely expressive through the core and extremities.  Good visual observation of your work.  Very strong presence on the rehearsal floor.  Must work towards sharing your artistic ideas more.  Can be distracted by other company members that are unfocussed.  Excellent commitment to physical workshops.  Must unsure that you are always balancing enthusiasm with safety.  Can sometimes compromise wellbeing for the sake of the work and this then leads to injury.  Very determined attitude towards work.  Good sense of musicality within the movement.  Look to find more dynamic rhythms within your own physicality. 8|P a g e

MISKIN THEATRE BTEC LEVEL 4 HNC IN PERFORMING ARTS (QCF) 2015 – 2016

Action Plan  In order to improve the flexibility of my turn out I will stretch in box splits against the wall, four times a week. I will also do 90 degree hand stands against the wall four times a week to improve flexibility in my spine and strengthen my shoulders. Summative Feedback Mary, you have made tremendous progression over the course of the Ways Of Seeing process. You are a highly physical performer with a dynamic ability to express yourself through movement and gesture. Your ability to impulsively explore your body, the space around you and the physicality of others has only strengthened throughout your training and your hunger for the work ensured that your discoveries were detailed, thorough and highly developed. Your strong and agile physicality is your greatest attribute and you are consequently growing as a versatile performer. You must ensure that you take a great deal more care over your body and learn to manipulate your sense of poise and control. You are an excellent risk taker and approach new physical challenges fearlessly. You must not lose this quality. You must however remember that you only have one body and though you are discovering the limits of your physicality you cannot be an actor without your tools. Look after yourself, your determination doesn’t make you indestructible. Your critical and honest attitude towards your own work was key to your successful development throughout the process. Keep developing your physicality throughout your training. The style is well suited to you and is a viable option for you to develop further in your career. Great work! Feedback (Actor To Assessor)              

Can feel a definite progression as a physical performer. Possess a strong physicality, powerful presence. Struggled with flexibility in the legs. Need to work on improving the flexibility more regularly. Inconsistent with balance on one side of the body. The process brought me into a new light. Prefer the smaller company. Focus could be inconsistent. Felt that warm ups were only undertaken when told. Need to become more independent and not rely on a director’s supervision. Felt that there was a lot of deviating off task. Felt extremely happy throughout the process. Could have afforded to observe the room more. Find that Carly and Sarah tend to make me unfocussed.

Tasks Throughout the year you will be doing a CPD. This will be an ‘interactive’ CPD, meaning that you will fill in the table on your computer and then email each new updated version to me by your Sign-Off Deadline. By the end of the year you will have a complete CPD (the amalgamation of eight months’ worth of work). Make sure that you save the document after editing and back-up the file. I will not be saving a copy on my computer. Be aware that if you lose your work you will need to re-do the entire document by your next deadline. (For example, if you forget to back up your work and then lose it on month seven you will need to do seven months’ worth of work in one go.) BACK UP YOUR WORK! Your task is to firstly read the opening page of your CPD, it explains what you need to do and what a CPD is. You will then need to fill in the Initial Self-Assessment page and email the entire document back to me by Monday 2nd November, 10am. Assessor Signature
