Position the window to gain access to the mounting clip (1) . Remove the tab (1) by pushing it with a screwdriver and pulling the window upwards.

Proceed in the reverse order to removal. Initialising the window winder motor: - with ignition on, - raise the window fully (the window rises jerkily), - hold the switch (2 seconds),

Lock the window in the fully closed position.

Position the window to gain access to the mounting clip (1) . Remove the tab (1) by pushing it with a screwdriver and pulling the window upwards. Lock the window in the fully closed position. Disconnect the window winder motor. Remove the motor mounting bolts (2) . Remove the window winder motor.

IMPORTANT Unclip the side trims.

Before carrying out any work on or near a safety system component, lock the airbag computer using the diagnostic tool. When this function is activated, all the trigger lines are inhibited and the airbag warning light on the instrument panel is lit continuously (ignition on).

IMPORTANT Handling the pyrotechnic systems (airbags or pretensioners) near to a heat source or flame is prohibited: there is a risk of triggering the airbags or pretensioners. Lock the airbag computer using the diagnostic tool (see MR 366 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags and pretensioners ). Remove the mobile panel from the sunroof (see 52A, Non-side opening element mechanisms, Sunroof mobile panel: Removal - Refitting ). Disconnect the battery (MR 371 Mechanical, 80A Battery, Battery: Removal - Refitting).

Detach the seal (1) .

Remove the headlining (see 71A, Body interior trim, Headlining ). Carefully separate the indexing guide panels so that the cutting wire can pass through.

Note: Fit a new seal, available in the reinstallation kit from the Parts Department, each time an old seal is removed.

Disconnect and unclip sunroof connector (2) . Note: When cutting the centre cross member cement bead, pass the cutting wire between the sunroof operating mechanism and the centre cross member. Pass the wire from (4) to (5) .

Remove the centre cross member nuts (21 Nm) (3) . Cut the cement bead around the periphery of the sunroof operating mechanism. This operation requires two people.

REFITTING For preparation and bonding (see Technical Note 560A, General window bonding procedure ). Position: - the indexing guides on the sunroof operating mechanism, - . the positioning shims on the periphery of the sunroof operating mechanism. Using a special support (X2): - Windscreen support: PARV 202, - . Set of bars: APARV 200 ESP, WARNING Always use « High Modulus » adhesive. Attach the sunroof operating mechanism. 102370

Pass the wire from (4) to (6) .

Balance up the clearances and shut lines.

Put the cutting tool back in position.

A technician must be inside the vehicle to centre the sunroof with the indexing guides.

Carry out the same operation on the other side of the centre cross member.

Remove the two indexing guides 30 minutes after bonding the sunroof operating mechanism.

Remove the sunroof operating mechanism.

Proceed in the reverse order to removal. Unlock the airbag computer using the diagnostic tool (see MR 372 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags and pretensioners ). Connect the battery see (MR 370 Mechanical, 80A, Battery: Removal - Refitting). Initialise the sunroof motor (see MR 370 Mechanical, 87D, Electric windows - Sunroof, Initialisation ).

When replacing a mobile panel, replace the bolts with the bolts supplied with the mobile panel. Proceed in the reverse order to removal. Initialise the sunroof motor (see MR 370 Mechanical, 87D, Electric windows - Sunroof, Electric sunroof: Initialisation) ,

Remove the deflector bolts (2 Nm) (1) whilst supporting the deflector. Remove the air deflector.

REFITTING When removing and refitting the deflector, put some « Frenbloc » on the mounting bolts. When replacing a deflector, replace the bolts with the bolts supplied with the deflector. Proceed in the reverse order to removal. Initialise the sunroof motor (see MR 370 Mechanical, 87D, Electric windows - Sunroof, Electric sunroof: Initialisation) ,

WARNING Always use « High Modulus » adhesive. Cement the fixed window. This operation requires two people. Respect the following clearances and shut lines: - « fixed window mobile panel » : 7 mm , 104317

Unclip the side trims.

- « fixed window - trims » : balance the side clearances. Proceed in the reverse order to removal. Unlock the airbag computer using the diagnostic tool (see MR 372 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags and pretensioners ). Connect the battery (see MR 370 Mechanical, 80A Battery: Removal - Refitting ).

Remove the fixed glass roof using the following special supports (X2): - Support: PARV 202 , - Set of arch supports: APARV 200 ESP . This operation requires four people.

REFITTING I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION For preparation and bonding of the fixed glass roof (see Technical Note 560A, General bonding procedure for windows and sunroof ).

Note: Replace the seal (7) if it was damaged during removal. Position: - the indexing guides on the fixed glass roof, - the positioning shims on the edge of the fixed glass roof. II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED

Pass the cutting wire from (5) to (6) .

It is essential to use high modulus adhesive for bonding the fixed glass roof. Apply the cement bead to the inside edge of the roof or to the fixed glass roof moulding.

Put the cutting tool back in position. Carry out the same operation on the other side of the centre cross member.

Bond the fixed glass roof using special supports. This operation requires four people.

Remove the two indexing guides 30 minutes after bonding the fixed glass roof. III - FINAL OPERATION Refit the nuts to the centre cross member. Torque tighten the centre cross member nuts (21 Nm) . Refit: - the roof protection strips (see 55A, Exterior protection, Roof protection strip: Removal - Refitting ). - the headlining (see 71A, Body internal trim, Headlining: Removal - Refitting ). Connect the battery (see MR 370 Mechanical, 80A, Battery, Battery: Removal - Refitting ). Unlock the airbag computer using the diagnostic tool (see MR 372 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags and pretensioners, Airbag computer locking procedure ).

Remove the bolts from the sun visor (1) . Unclip the sun visor. Partially remove the sun visor.

Remove the sliding mechanism (3) from the side rails. Remove the sun blind.

REFITTING I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED Insert the side rails: - the sliding mechanism, - the guide mechanism. Clip the sun visor into place. Refit the bolts (1) to the sun visor. Torque tighten the sun visor bolts (2 Nm) . Carry out a function test. II - FINAL OPERATION Refit the headlining (see 71A, Body internal trim, Headlining: Removal - Refitting ). Connect the battery (see MR 370 Mechanical, 80A, Battery, Battery: Removal - Refitting ). Unlock the airbag computer using the diagnostic tool (see MR 372 Fault finding, 88C, Airbags and pretensioners, Airbag computer locking procedure ).

WARNING - If the vehicle is fitted with a rain detector, the replacement windscreen must be the same colour. This could otherwise affect the operation of the rain detector. For further information, refer to (see 88B, Multiplexing) . 103754

- Leave the rain detector in place on the old windscreen throughout the replacement operation.

Position the three lower shims (1) . Fit the new frame seal on the windscreen. For preparation and bonding, see Technical Note 560A .

Note: When « removing - refitting » or replacing, the seal and positioning shims must be systematically replaced. These parts are available at retail.

WARNING

Remove: - the windscreen pillars ( (see 71A, Body interior trim) ),

Be sure to use high modulus adhesive to bond the windows: monopac + 2 (part no.: 77 11 218 570 ) and additional cartridge (part no.: 77 11 218 571 ).

- the interior rear-view mirror ( (see 57A, Interior accessories) ), - the cowl grille ( (see 55A, Exterior protection) ).

Unclip the windscreen frame seal. Protect the windscreen surround and the headlining with masking tape. Position the dashboard protector (Car. 1704). Cut the cement bead.

REMOVAL

Remove the detector from the windscreen.

SPECIAL NOTES ON REMOVING AND REFITTING THE RAIN DETECTOR

Note: When replacing the windscreen, be sure to replace section (2) of the rain detector. This part is available at retail from the Parts Depar tment.

WARNING The rain detector should be handled in totally clean conditions, any dust or cloth residue could cause the detector to malfunction.

Note: The rain detector comprises two sections: - the adhesive base (2) , - the printed circuit unit (3) . Remove the three clips (4) . Separate the two sections.

Note: Use a pre-drilled registration plate available from the Par ts Department. Offer up the registration plate. Put a style cap on the rivets. Rivet the registration plate using a special expanded rivet 77 11 218 035 . II - REMOVING THE REAR REGISTRATION PLATE Drill the rivets out. Remove the registration plate. Remove the tailgate trim (see 73A, Non-side opening element trim, Tailgate trim ).

WARNING The rivets that have fallen into the tailgate box section must be removed to avoid blocking the boot lock.

Unclip the upper section of the trim (1) . Remove the trim (2) .

- Before carrying out any work on a safety system component, lock the air bag computer using the diagnostic tool ( (see 8, Electrical equipment) ). When this function is activated, all the trigger lines are inhibited and the air bag warning light on the instrument panel lights up continuously (ignition on). Remove the rear seats. Move the front seat forward.
