Classification: Anticonvulsant,miscellaneo us and laxative, saline
>magnesium sulphate depresses the CNS and controls convulsions by blocking release of acetylcholine at the myoneural junction .
>prevention and treatment of seizure in severe pre-eclampsia or eclampsia >to control hypertension
>Parenteral administration of the drug is contraindicated in patients with heart block or myocardial damage.

> drowsiness > muscle weakness >slowed/shallow breathing or other breathing trouble.
> Monitor pressur sure e, pulse, blood pres respirations and ECG frequently throughout administration of parenteral magnesium sulfate. > Respirations should be at least 16/min before administering. > Monitor neurologic status before and throughout therapy. >Institute seizure precaution. >Patellar reflex should be tested before administering,, if absent, administering no additional doses should be administered
