Welcome to Games Workshop’s 2009 Citadel Miniatures Bitz Catalogue F or years Citadel has offered converters and modellers a special parts service enabling customers to purchase component metal pieces for their own modelling projects. On some distant occasion now long-forgotten these individual metal pieces were dubbed ‘Bitz’ – and Bitz they have stubbornly remained ever since – so that now when we talk about components we invariably say ‘Bitz’ and trust that everyone understands what we mean! This timehallowed tradition continues with this, our latest ‘Bitz Catalogue’.

Customers are asked to bear in mind that all of our Bitz are intended for use by competent converters and a fair degree of modelling skill is assumed. Some reworking, cutting and remodelling will be required when fitting pieces together, whilst larger metal pieces may require pinning or supporting for strength. Obviously, there are some pieces that are designed to be compatible with other standard parts, such as our Space Marine shoulder-pad sets, but it is wise to check all pieces before assembly and to always assume that some work will be necessary to achieve a satisfactory fit.

Our Bitz offer has evolved over the years and nowadays a range of components is offered in convenient pre-packaged selections as part of the Games Workshop Direct service. Plastic pieces now form an important part of the Bitz collection as Citadel’s range of plastic models continues to expand. Many pieces previously available only as metal are now offered in plastic. Our aim is to provide as wide a range of metal and plastic Bitz as possible, and our intention is to expand the range this year and to continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Bitz can be anything – or even part of a thing – a fact which presented us with a bit of a headache when it came to organising our Bitz Catalogue. In the end we decided to divide the contents into separate sections for Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000, and ordered each part along the following lines. Converters’ pieces have been included first – for example sets of weapons and shoulder pads for Space Marines – and we have kept similarly themed pieces together where possible – for example all Imperial Guard pieces. These are followed by mounts and individual small creatures – for example Rhinox and various types of hounds. Finally, we have grouped all the scenic accessory and oddments together – for example Glyph plates and furniture. This seemed the most accessible and practical way of presenting the Bitz.

Some of our Bitz are duplicates of individual components of models available in our main ranges, but this is far from being universally the case. Many of our Bitz designs are unique pieces created specifically for converting – and as such they are not available elsewhere. New designs are often dreamt up by our sculptors or they are based on the suggestions of enthusiastic converters and modellers. Ideas for new Bitz packs are always welcome – be they alternative head types for Imperial Guard, weapon and equipment sprues, or decorative pieces of any kind… all suggestions will be keenly considered.

Most of the bitz in this catalogue are shown unpainted. All bitz are supplied unpainted. All miniatures are shown at ACTUAL SIZE, unless otherwise noted. All models that require a base are supplied with the correct plastic Citadel miniature slottabase. Some of the bitz shown in this catalogue are shown assembled. This is not how they are supplied. All models will require some assembly. Some bitz require nothing more complicated than affixing the miniature to its plastic base.
