Lifeboats only required on vessels more than 85m. 1 freefall lifeboat for 100% of the complement of the crew + 100% of the complement of liferafts on each side. Davit launched lifeboats for 100% on each side. 100% of liferafts in the center with easy side to side transfer. If there is no side to side transfer then 100% on each side. If the distance of a working station is more than 100m from the embarkation station then additional life rafts to be placed. These liferafts need not have an HRU. One rescue boat. Two way radio telephones. For 300-500grt – 2. 500grt and above – 3. SART. 300-500grt – 1. 500grt and above 2. Lifebuoy. Under 100 8 100 – 150 10 150 – 200 12 200 above 14 Evenly distributed on both sides. Half of the lifebuoys to have a self igniting light. Two of these lifebuoys should have a self activated smoke float as well. These are the MOB buoys. Lifejacket. 1 for every person onboard. Additional lifejackets to be kept at the working stations for the persons on watch and other manned remote stations. Child lifejackets for 10% of passengers on board or 1 for every child, whichever is greater. Pyrotechnics. Rocket parachute flares – 12 on the bridge. 6 flares, 4 rockets and 2 smokes in each lifeboat.

LTA – min 4 projectiles with 230m line each. Immersion suit – 1 for every person. TPA – 10% of the crew or 2 whichever is greater.

FFA Requirements. Manual call points. Not to be more than 20m from each other. One near each emergency exit. Fire mains and hydrants. Sufficient number so than 2 jets of water are available at any point of the ship with one of the jets originating from a single hose while the other can come from a combination of hoses. Fire pumps. Ships greater than 1000grt, atleast 2 independent pumps. Less than 1000grt 2 power driven pumps out of which atleast one is independent. Total capacity of the pumps to be 4/3 of the bilge pump. Individual capacity to be atleast 25m3/hr. Emergency fire pump. This pump to be independent of the fire pumps. To b functional in case the fire pumps fuck up. It should have an independent source of power, sea suction etc. International shore connection – 1 for 500grt and above. Fire hoses. For 1000grt or more, 1 hose for every 30m of space but in no case less than 5 hoses. For ships less than 100grt, min 3 hoses. Min length of hose to be 10m. in machinery space 15m. all other open spaces and decks it should be 20m. if the breadth of the ship is more than 30m, then length to be 25m. Nozzles. Dia to be 12, 16 and 19mm. for accommodation, dia to be 12mm. PFE. Ships greater than 1000grt, min 5 PFE. Spare charges to be carried are 100% for the 1st 10, 50% for the rest. In no case total number of charges to be more than 60. Fixed fire fighting systems. Fixed gas, fixed high expansion foam and fixed water spray.
