There are three compartments of longevity in Jaimini astrology They are : 1) Short span of life is : upto till age of 33 years 2) Middle life starts from the : age of 33 years up to 66 years and 3) long life is : from the age of 66 onwards

Three factors should be taken into consideration to judge longevity: 1) Consider the lord of the lagna and the lord of the 8th house 2) Consider the lagna sign and the moon sign 3) Consider the lagna sign and the hora lagna sign

FACTORS TO ASCERTAIN LONGEVITY :Find out the sign positions of both (lord of ascendant & Moon) in each factor to ascertain the terms of longevity. 1) Long life

Ascertain the terms of longevity indicated by : 1. All the 3 factors if they give the same results 2. Take the results of 2 factors out of the 3 that agree 4) IF ALL THE 3 FACTORS DISAGREE, THEN ASCERTAIN THE TERMS OF LONGEVITY INDICATED BY THE ASCENDANT OR THE HORA LAGNA. 5) If the Moon occupies the Ascendant or the 7th house, then decide the terms of life indicated by the Ascendant and the Moon.

KAKSHYA VRIDHI AND KAKSHYA HRASA A)

Kakshya Vridhi takes place when the following combinations are observed: 1)Jupiter is in the ascendant or lagna, in the 7th house or in the 5thHouse 2)Natural benfics (Jupiter, Venus and Mercury) are in the ascendant or lagna, in the 7th house or trikonas. 3)Natural benefics are with the atmakarak 4)If atmakarak is exalted 5)If Jupiter is atmakarak

KAKSHYA HRASA Kakshya hrasa(Reduction in the length of life) 1. When malefic planets occupy lagna or the seventh house 2. When malefic planets are in the fifth and ninth house from the lagna 3. Atmakarak is debilitated 4. When Saturn is associated with the lagna lord or hora lagna lord 5. When Saturn is in the lagna/ eight house or hora lagna8. 6.When Jupiter is in a kendra and has the aspect of Mars and Saturn. 7.When Moon is in the 8th or 12th house from lagna then there is kakshya hrasa. This clause is not applicable for Karka rasi. 8. If Jupiter is occupies a place from lagna and is dwara rasi and Saturn is placed in the bhoga rasi from it, then there is kakshya hrasa or reduction in life
