Little Red Riding Hood Set

Hey guys! As promised, here is the pattern for my Little Red Riding Hood Crochet set!

The same rules apply - this pattern is purely for personal use only, and any pictures of your completed projects will be highly welcomed on my facebook page! And now without further ado… (*drumrollz!*)

MATERIALS

- Worsted Weight Yarn:

Colour A/Skin colour (for Little Red’s skin) Colour B/Light Denim (for Little Red’s dress) Colour C/Red (for Little Red’s hood) Colour D/Grey (for Wolfie) Colour E/White (for Wolfie’s feet, snout, and belly and for Little Red’s undies) Colour F/Black (for embellishments)

Colour G/Brown (for the basket) - White crochet thread (for Little Red’s collar)

- Any yarn you prefer for making hair

- Crochet hook G and B (US size)

- Fiber fill

- Safety eyes x4

- Wire/pipe cleaners (optional: to make limbs adjustable)

*note: crochet hook size and yarn weight are my preferences. If you were to use yarns of a heavier weight, remember to use the corresponding hook size! Likewise, if using yarns of a lighter weight, use the right sized hook. (Personally, when crocheting amigurumi, I like using a hook size that is one size smaller than what they recommend of the yarn label so the stitches will be tighter and denser - making the final product sturdier and also look better in my opinion since the stuffing will not show through.) Heavier yarns and bigger hooks will yield bigger finished products, just as lighter yarns and smaller hooks will yield smaller finished products.

PATTERN LITTLE RED

Head In Colour A,

1. 4 sc in magic ring (4) 2. Inc in each st around (8) 3. (Sc, inc) 4 times (12) 4. (2 sc, inc) 4 times (16) 5. (3 sc, inc) 4 times (20) 6. (4 sc, inc) 4 times (24) 7-9. Sc in each st around (24 each round) 10. (4 sc, dec) 4 times (20) If you intend to use safety eyes, attach them now. I placed mine between lines 7 and 8, about 5 stitches apart. 11. (3 sc, dec) 4 times (16) 12. (2 sc, dec) 4 times (12) 13. (Sc, dec) 4 times (8) Stuff with poly-fil (or whatever you intend to use as stuffing). Stuff generously! 14. 4 dec (4) FO!

Arms (make 2)

In Colour A,

1. 4 sc in magic ring (4) 2. (Sc, inc) 2 times (6) 3. (Sc, dec) 2 times (4) 4-8. Sc in each st around (4 each round) FO! Stuff generously. Trouble stuffing? If you’re using poly-fil, roll a small amount of poly-fil in your hands (like you would a clay ball) to compact it, and shove it in with the back of your crochet hook.

Legs (make 2) In Colour A,

1. 4 sc in magic ring (4) 2-12. Sc in each st around (4 each round) FO! Stuff generously. Troubles stuffing? Refer to above suggested method.

Dress In Colour B,

1. 4 sc in magic ring (4)

2. Inc in each st around (8) 3. (Sc, inc) 4 times (12) 4. (2 sc, inc) 4 times (16) 5. (3 sc, inc) 4 times (20) 6-8. Sc in each st. around (20) 9. Inc in each st around (40) 10. (Sc, inc) 30 times (60) 11. Sc in each st around (60) FO!

Cap Sleeve (make 2) In Colour B,

1. 3 sc in magic ring (3) 2. Inc in each st around (6) 3. (Sc, inc) 3 times (9) 4. (2 sc, inc) 3 times (12) 5. (Sc, dec) 4 times (8) FO! Do not stuff - shove the arms in here later (or now, if you want) and sew to secure.

Underwear In Colour E,

1. 4 sc in magic ring (4) 2. Inc in each st around (8) 3. (Sc, inc) 4 times (12) 4. (2 sc, inc) 4 times (16) 5. Sc in each st around (16) FO! Sew to the underside of the dress (at round 8 or 9) and stuff generously.

Hood (NOTE: this is not worked in the round!) In Colour C, ch 25, turn

1. Sc in each st from the 2nd st from hook (24) 2-12. Ch 1, turn, Sc in each st (24)

13. Ch 1, turn, dec, 20 sc, dec (22) 14. Ch 1, turn, dec, 18 sc, dec (20) 15. Ch 1, turn, dec, 16 sc, dec (18) 16. Fold work in half, and sl st along the fold to join it together (refer to image below) 17. Sc along the entire bottom (~28 stiches*) (refer to image below) 18. (Sc, inc) 14 times or around (~42) 19. (2 sc, inc) 14 times or around around (~56) 20-21. Sc in each st around (~56) FO!

* I wrote approximately 28 stitches because as you sc along the bottom, you might get a slightly different number of stitches. I sort of fudged through this part and managed to get a nice number, 28, which allowed me to do the increases later on in rounds 18 and 19 neatly but if you don’t get 28, don’t fret too much. It will only cause small inconveniences during the increasing such as too little/too many stitches to increase in a proper fashion, but as long as round 18 is done by alternating one sc and one inc and round 19 is done by alternating two sc and one inc, it does not matter as much. Too little/too many stitches in round 19 might be an issue, but it’s not very important. Just go as far as you can doing groups of (2 sc, inc) until the end of the row.

Basket In Colour G,

1. 3 sc in magic ring (3) 2. Inc in each st around (6) 3. (2 sc, inc) 2 times (8) 4. (Sc, inc) 4 times (12) 5. (2 inc, 4 sc) 2 times (16) 6. Sc in each st around in back loops only (16) 7-8. Sc in each st around (16 each round) FO! (NOTE: Some blocking may be required to keep to oblong shape of the basket)

Lace Collar (NOTE: this is not worked in the round!) With crochet thread and US B crochet hook, ch 16, turn

1. Sc in each st from the 2nd st from hook (15) 2-3. Sc in each st, ch 1 turn (15) 4. Work 4 sc into the first st, 13 sc, Work 4 sc into the last st (21) FO!

Wig Cap Using the yarn you intend to use for Little Red’s hair,

1. 4 sc in magic ring (4) 2. Inc in each st around (8) 3. (Sc, inc) 4 times (12) 4. (2 sc, inc) 4 times (16) 5. (3 sc, inc) 4 times (20) 6. (4 sc, inc) 4 times (24) 7. Sc in each st around (24) FO!

WOLFIE

Snout In Colour E,

1. 4 sc in magic ring (4) 2. Inc in each st around (8)

3-4. Changing to Colour D, (sc, inc) 2 times. Changing back to Colour E, (sc, inc) 2 times (12) FO! Stuff when attaching to the head (it’s much easier and less messy then).

Head In Colour D,

1. 5 sc in magic ring (5) 2. Inc in each st around (10) 3. (Sc, inc) 5 times (15) 4. (2 sc, inc) 5 times (20) 5-6. Sc in each st around (20 each round) 7-9. Changing to Colour E, sc in each st around (20 each round) Attach safety eyes if applicable. I put them between rows 5 and 6 and spaced them such that they will be touching the sides of the snout. 10. (2 sc, dec) 5 times (15) 11. (Sc, dec) 5 times (10) Stuff generously! 12. Dec 5 times (5) FO! (NOTE: It isn’t necessary to completely close up the hole because this will be sewn on to the body later. Personally, I feel that it is easier to sew them together when it isn’t completely closed so that I can position it better (so Wolfie doesn’t wind up having his head on

wonky - although that could look rather cute too!

Ears (make 2) In Colour D,

1. 2 sc in magic ring (2) 2. Inc in each st around (4) 3. (Sc, inc) 2 times (6) 4. (2 sc, inc) 2 times (8) FO! Do not stuff.

Body In Colour D,

1. 5 sc in magic ring (5) 2. Inc in each st around (10) 3. (Sc, inc) 5 times (15) 4. (2 sc, inc) 5 times (20) 5-11. Sc in each st around (20 each round) 12. (2 sc, dec) 5 times (15) Stuff generously!

13. (Sc, dec) 5 times (10) FO!

White Tummy Patch In Colour E,

1. 4 sc in magic ring (4) 2. Inc in each st around (8) 3. (Sc, inc) 4 times (12) 4. (3 inc, 3 sc) 2 times (18) FO! Do not stuff - sew flat onto the body later on (or now).

Arms (make 2) In Colour E,

1. 4 sc in magic ring (4) 2. (Sc, inc) 2 times (6) 3. Changing to Colour D, sc in each st around (6) 4. (Sc, dec) 2 times (4) 5-8. Sc in each st around (4 each round) FO! Stuff generously. Problems stuffing? Refer to aforementioned suggested method.

Legs (make 2) In Colour D,

1. 4 sc in magic ring (4) 2. Inc in each st around (8) 3. 3 inc, 5 sc (11) 4. 3 dec, 5 sc (8) 5. 4 dec (4) 6-14. Sc in each st around (4 each round) FO! Stuff generously. Problems? Refer above.

Hurrah! Now insert metal wires into the limbs, sew the parts together, embroider the features, sew on the eyes if you aren’t using safety eyes, stuff any un-stuffed body part (HAHA that sounds kinda gross!), sew on Little Red’s hair (you can follow this awesome tutorial), and you’re done! Now go show off to the rest of the world :D
