OBJECTIVES: After this activity, the students should be able to: Lesson/s: A. relate the volcano’s slope to its material emissions; B. construct miniature model of volcanoes showing its different shapes; C. differentiate one after the other the types of volcanoes in terms of its shape; and D. manifest creativity, neatness and cooperation in performing the activity. II. SUBJECT MATTER A. Topic: Activity 3.3: MINIATURE VOLCANO MODEL CONSTRUCTION SHOWING THE TYPES OF VOLCANO IN TERMS OF SHAPE B. Content Standard: Demonstrate understanding of volcanoes found in the Philippines C. Performance Standard: Participates in the activities that reduce risks and lessen effects of natural phenomenon such as volcanic eruption. D. Label with parts of volcanoes printed on a construction paper 8. Apron 9. Colored Pens 10. DLP and slide presentation prepared thru Prezi Desktop III. PROCEDURE A. Pre Developmental Activity 1. Recall - Slide presentation thru Prezi Desktop were shown to review previously performed activity. 2. Motivation - Let them travel around the world featuring world volcanoes thru simulation as they view the prepared slide presentation thru Prezi Desktop. - Ask: How do these volcanoes differ from one another? B. Pre-Activity 1. Checking of materials 2. Distribution of photocopy materials 3. Explanation of the Objectives 4. Discussion of Procedure C. Activity Proper 1. Pounding of dried mud clay

2. Making of clay dough 3. Volcano external part construction on plywood 4. Covering with cement coating 5. Applying light base color latex paint 6. Putting colors with latex paint D. Post Activity - Presentation of outputs for final critiquing. IV. EVALUATION - Construction of Concept of the Assigned Volcano *Direction: In 5 minutes, construct your concept map of your chosen volcano by picking five words connected to it. With label on it, put the picture at the center of the concept map. Present your answer in front in 3 minutes. * Note: V. Materials: two ¾ cups of cornstarch two ¼ cups of water 1 cup gravel 3 cardboard pieces three 250 mL paper cups stirrer (any wooden stick) ruler protractor III. Procedure: Performance of Activity 5: IN AND OUT Science Idea: Shield volcanoes are formed by the accumulation of lava that oozes out from the volcano. Cinder cones, on the other hand, are built from ejected lava fragments. Composite cones or stratovolcanoes are large, nearly perfect sloped structure formed from alternate solidification of both lava and pyroclastic deposits. IV. Assessment: How will you describe the slope of Pinatubo Volcano? Infer the type of materials from which it was formed.
