Dear Visti, Namaskar. Having read all your replies to queries on gemstones and also listened to your MP3s on Ratnas and also the lecture on MKS, I have a query specifically for the ninth house and Rahu. Please advise. I quote you from one of your mails on Srijagannath group,” There could be various reasons to advise a gemstone for the ninth house. If Rahu is joined the ninth house or lord, or aspecting, then no doubt a yellow sapphire should be worn… no matter the position of Jupiter. In fact, if such a gemstone is not advised the luck of the person simply won’t start. Instead the person will be running in circles.” This is well understood. The principles of Sambandha i.e. Parivartana, Yuti (conjunction), Samdristi (mutual drishti) and drishti parivartana (drishti on each others signs) discussed in your mail are also well understood. However the doubt is as follows:1. What would prevail in case of Cancer ascendant with Rahu in the ninth house and Jupiter (in conjunction with Ketu) in the third house? The point of concern is that both Jupiter and Rahu are in MKS. Also Jupiter wins the planetary war with Ketu as Jupiter is placed about slightly ahead of Ketu by more than one degree. (a) Do we have to consider that since Jupiter is in Yuti with Ketu, it is Cat’s eye that is to be worn? (b) Or do we have to consider that since Jupiter is in MKS, we have to strengthen the Karaka of the third house, Mars. MKS. Also, Mars is a Yogakaraka for Cancer ascendant (It is placed in the fifth house but retrograde). (c) Or would the principle that “No matter the position of Jupiter, the individual has to wear a yellow sapphire.” be valid? I did study your horoscope and find that your Jupiter is placed with Mercury in the twelfth house. And you wear a white sapphire and not an emerald. 2. हरे राम कृण॥ Dear Ekalavya, 1. If the ninth lord is weak you should strengthen it, and thus wearing a yellow sapphire in such a case is compulsory. I must add however that its a good idea to check the planets placement from the arudha lagna before advising it as you can force some unwanted situations on the person if you select the wrong gemstone. To learn about arudhas and the planets placed from it simply follow the classes which have been posted on the same in the past on this website: http://www.srigaruda.com/2006/01 /08/arudha-lagnapada-and-vyayapada/ For the example you cite of planets lording both a dusthana and ninth house, there is no harm in wearing the gemstone unless the planet is also placed in the dusthana. Take the example cited in the lecture for Taurus lagna and Venus in sixth in dusthana. In such a case the diamond will further enhance the health problems (usually related to the digestion). The remedy for this is also given in the lecture. Yes we do need to consider the relevant vargas before giving a gemstone. Hope this helps. Yours sincerely, Visti Larsen. 6. Dear Visti ji, Hare Rama Krishna How to choose a auspious time for wearing the gem, for e,g I have been prescribed a gem stone for Mercury and most of the books says that it should be worn on wednesday after 2-hour of sunrise, after reciting mantra for Mercury. finger. I am trying to rationalise his suggestion with the theories I have learnt here at SJC. 1. In my chart I have Shani-Chandra yoga in the 2nd from Lagna and 12th from AL. Lagna is in UBha nakshatra ruled by Saturn. Per your postings on PV conjunctions and gemstones, due to the conjunction of Shani and Chandra, they will give each other’s effects. I already have experience with a pearl. The pearl caused intense depression and a lot of weight gain. So in essence per my understanding. Neelam should give 5th house effects and also strengthen the lagna because it is the lord of the lagna nakshatra. Also, the navamsa dispositor of Ju(lagnesh) is Sa. They are in exchange in D9. There are 3 curses in your chart, The primary curse if that of a brahmin caused by malefic retrograde saturn (8th lord) and Mars having Graha Drishti on your jupiter in 3rd house. Jupiter is karaka for Money and that can indicate problems with finances. To time the event we use moola dasa and that started in Mar 2004 you started Saturn Moola dasa and being the worst malefic and retrograde it is delievring the curse. Now the problem is retrograde curses are extremely hard to remedy. Lord of the house is Me and he is in a secondary curse in the 7th house. But being in kendra i believe that worshipping Maharishi Ved Vyasa with the mantra Vyam Vyasadevaya namah everyday could provide some relief. हरे राम कृण॥ Dear Maka, Sanjay Mehta, Supriti, Govind, Sreelatha Namaskar Maka I see that Tarun has given some fine answers. Here is my train of thought. Keep in mind that only Parivartana gives 100% results of the other planets. Hence, when choosing gemstones discard conjunctions for starters. The yellow sapphire is very auspicious for you, but wear it on the right hand-ring finger. Not index. This will help you in your education. Your Jupiter is afflicted by Saturn and Mars thus forming a curse of Brahmin from the past life. Saturn is retrograde and is very malefic, and so also since 2004 you have been under the Moola dasa of Saturn which is bringing the curse itself. This will bring tough times from 2004-2008 november atleast, and needs to be remedied by more than just gemstones. Firstly, recite the Ganesha-damana mantra for bettering your education. the mantra for you is: Gajananaaya Hum|. Secondly, worship Vyasa to bring you out of the curse and ensure good knowledge and education. The mantra is: Vyam Vyasadevaaya Namah|. Do these in the order i have given. Start the Ganesha mantra for minimum 108 times from a wednesday whilst the Vyasa mantra is started for 3×108 times from a Thursday morning. Wear the yellow sapphire begining from that same Thursday as well. If i were to advise anything more for the present period it would be to wear a gomedh on the left hand for the current antaradasa of rahu… but stick to the above remedies for now.

Sanjay Mehta Make sure that the graha (in this case Mercury) is un afflicted atleast and in a kendra. Which mantra are you using? Hopefully the one Parasara advises from the Rg Veda. Supriti When Moon is afflicted we can advise them to wear the blue sapphire to take them out of this. How about a mantra? Govind Singh Right now the biggest problem is Saturn dasa, as Saturn is vakra and has graha dristi on the ninth house. This is not good and will give durbhagya if we don’t give a remedy. The standard remedy is to wear an amethyst on the left hand middle finger. Make a pilgrimage to visit a peetha of the shankaracharya and seek blessings for a good life ahead. Have you joined a spiritual organisations? If not its time for this now. Sreelatha Uff, i dread such cases. Jupiter is the main karaka for the ninth house, and so also Rahu is the worst planet in the ninth. So if Rahu is there then he must be appeased first. Second is Saturn and third is Mars. You mentioned that because of Rahu is in the simhasana it will eclipse the house where Sun sits (6th house) and you advised the wearing of a ruby (yes ruby) for sixth lord Sun to overcome the problems with the battles/enemies. Please, could you guide me about the following points. I considere this very important to study: a)The majority of books don’t recommend to use gemstone of dushtanas lords (I have heard your class about the example of two conjunct grahas: but that example is a special case in which dushtana lord is acting as the other conjunct planet). Some authors suggest the use only in their dasas when the lord is in own house. Is this statement correct? Or the only possibility is this one when Rahu is in 10th ? b)May the use of ruby give disease affecting nervous system (6th house) or heart (sun) or blood? If not, why? c)About the ruby for the native: is it possible to wear a substitute gemstone or only ruby? d)Is it better to use a ruby ring in middle finger or a ruby pingent? d)Is it possible to have access to the example of Kasinath Rao? e)Gemstone affects the mind and has to be favorable to the body (ascendent). In this chart, Sun is atmakaraka. Could it have some other positive effect? f)About the mantra to the gemstone: could you indicate the best one for the native or it is enough just follow the normal prescriptions to install the deity. हरे राम कृण॥ Dear Supriti and Leoncio, Namaskar. Supriti No doubt the mothers mantras are best for the Moon. Yes Kali is quite suitable. Leoncio The example from Kasinath Rao is cited from my memory which only included the three factors: Pisces lagna, Rahu in tenth and Sun in sixth. The reasoning was that if the Sun was not strengthened then the court cases would not end. And YES normally we should not advise the gems of Dusthana lords, but this is an exception. The trick is knowing the exceptions. Btw. Simhasana is not just the tenth house. Do you know the rest? Even for Pisces Lagna its said that the Sun will never hurt the lagna as Jupiter and Sun are natural friends. This is also important. Ruby is the appropriate gemstone. It should be worn on the middle finger as this is the Arthatrikona that we are trying to solve.

The mantra should be the Akrishnena rajasa vartamano… mantra from the Rg veda no doubt. As far as gemstone pratishta is concerned, there also exists pujas like ‘Jeeva Nyasa’ which are done on the gemstone to ensure that the native doesn’t incur physical harm from the gemstone… regardless of which it is. हरे राम कृण॥ Dear Varsha, Namaskar. We need more than the date of birth to draw a chart for horoscopy. If Mercury is in the eighth house then you must have a birthtime and thus also a lagna… and a place of birth as well. I would not recommend wearing an emerald for Mercury in the eighth unless you are suffering from hormonal problems. हरे राम कृण॥ Dear Srikanth, Namaskar. Dasa nor Transit results of a planet will not tell you whether that planet needs a gemstone or not. Jupiter is your ninth lord and is supposed to support you, but is unable due to his peculiar placement in Capricorn. Hence bad results come as the ninth lord is unable to protect you. Wear a diamond for your ninth lord and start worshiping Brighu to start breaking the same yoga. The mantra is: Om Bhargavaaya Namah. Do this sincerely and imbibe the diamond with the Shukra-gayatri given in the Rg Veda on a Friday morning. Otherwise get a pujari to do the same for you. Remember it should be with the Rg veda mantra for Shukra. Sreelatha What is most important is the Devata who sits inside the gemstone. Are you sure that the placement of Venus in the eighth is a major problem? It guarantees good health to spouse because of the strength of Mercury. Do not wear the gemstone of a maraka. Aredaman Normally activation of ANY planet in an Upachaya is strongly warned against. The Upachaya shows the intellect of man which it acts on WITHOUT the blessings of God. Its our free will and malefics in these houses make us TAKE from the world and benefit, but this adds to our balance of bad karma. For Gemini lagna Ketu’s stone is not advised normally, as Ketu gets debilitated in Gemini’s sign. But, in your case Ketu in the third is removing the papaargala of Saturn on the lagna, whose placement in the eleventh in debility is not auspicious. So for that reason it can act auspiciously. As an additional note. Do not wear gemstones of the second, third or eighth houses in the Somanatha Drekkana. Ketu is lord of fifth and placed in fifth in the S3 which is good in your chart. Sandhya Venus in third causes Bhagya yoga. A diamond would be BEAUTIFUL for you to wear. Your anxiety arises from you not accepting ‘Venus’ in your life. Ladies should not wear the red ruby, but instead the pink ruby, as this is easier for their constitution. Megha You risk Rajbhanga yoga by wearing a Blue Sapphire. Best overall remedy would be to wear an Emerald on the middle finger of right hand, installed in gold metal. I would not recommend Blue Sapphire on neither left nor right hand for you. She has been suffering from mental cleanliness related phobias and urine infections, vaginitis, weak pelvic muscles. By wearing an emerald you risk strengthening these negative planets and giving financial issues to spouse. Hence why people woul advise you against wearing an emerald. Also see the case of PV Narasimha Rao cited in this posts-audio itself. Maka 1. If there is only graha dristi, then effects of the aspect of Saturn/Rahu is only temporary. Then only during the Dasa/Antaradasa of the specific planet would you need to wear a gemstone, and only of either Blue Sapphire (Saturn) or Hessonite (Rahu) on the LEFT hand and only during their Dasas/Antaradasas. 2.
