Shradhanjali Sri Raichur ji was a very senior and knowledgeable KP astrologer. As far as I know, he was the first KP software developer. His long term service dedicated to KP community is unforgettable. We lost a very valuable KP senior. I don’t think anyone can take his place in the KP community. First time I meet him at his home in 1996 and got very impressed with his cooperative nature, as I got many good tips within an hour. After that I had met him 3-4 times personally and we talked on phone very frequently. When I thought to start the KP-Ezine, he is one of my close wellwisher who encouraged me and helped me a lot. He was an advisory member of the KP-Ezine, but due to his poor health he resigned from advisory member only a few months ago. Let us pray to God for his soul to rest in peace. Shri A.R. I have just heard the terrible news that Shri Raichur is no more with us. Although he was not in good health for a couple of years now, we never missed him because he was actively participating in many KP forums. That we will not hear from him in future is something that is hard to digest. I believe he was the first to develop a software program for KP astrology. Even though he wrote it several years ago for DOS, it is still widely used by many persons across the world. May his soul rest in peace! May he guide us all from his heavenly abode! - Dr K Rangarajan I was shocked to hear the sad news that Shri A R Raichur ji is no more with us at the age of 86 years and 10 days. He was our guardian, guide and great KP scholar, co-author of the Universal Table of Houses and Krishnamurti’s Prediction by Horary Astrology: Scientific Tables of Houses for All, and first KP SW developer. He had also supported K. Baskaran’s Principles of Cuspal Interlinks (KB) book by his KP SW and advocated the Four Step Theory in English. He had dedicated his long term service to KP till the last moment, he could operate the internet a few months ago, in the KP & Astrology magazine, the KP discussion groups, KP-Ezine magazine etc. He was a sincere and honest man by saying that the Lahiri Ayanamsa was used in the UTOH while controversy of ayanamsa was going on, and he was not so good in prediction, and recommending to use a specialised KP SW like KPAstro, if one wants to work with sub-sub lords. I am grateful to him for his sharing of KP knowledge, guidance and encouragement for research on KP rules that helped me a lot to learn KP. I ask for his forgiveness from his heavenly abode for having different views in some issues. We will miss him. But let me quote Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee that the sun has set, by yet the shadows of the stars we must find out our way. Nepal is our neighbor. Our relation with Nepal is very good since past long time.We can travel to Nepal without Visa – Passport and Nepali people can travel to India without Visa – Passport. But now a day there is a political uncertainty in Nepal. Only Hindu Rastra in world is now nonsecular country. In the first the election Maoists party gain more seats than the democratic party, due to this situation I am curious to know what is the fate of Nepal. Details: Name of Country: Nepal Date: 28 May 2008 Time: 11.25 PM Place: Kathmandu Lot/Lat: 27 N 43, 85 E 19 Time Zone: 5.45 East Who will rule the country? There are many possibilities, and so I fixed some rules for the Rulers which are as under. As per my Rules, 1) If Asc Sub lord (Tendency of people of country) signifies 6(Military Dictatorship), 11(gain), then the power comes in the hand of Military or a Dictator. 2) If Asc Sub lord (Tendency of people of country) signifies 4(Democracies, Democratic Government and movements), 11(gain), then power comes in hand of a Democratic Government. 3) If Asc Sub lord (Tendency of people of country) signifies 9(Religious leader), 11(gain), then power comes in hand of Religious leaders. My Analysis: 1) If Asc Sub lord (Tendency of people of country) signifies 6(Military Dictatorship), 11(gain), then the power comes in the hand of Military or a Dictator. Asc sublord is Ven.Ve+(4, 4-5-9), no planet in the star of Ven and Ven is CSL of 1, in the star of Mo(1, 7), in the sub of Mo(1, 7). No 6 and 9 but 4 signification in dasa shows only chance for democratic government in Nepal. My opinion: There is no chance of Maoists rule in Nepal. And democracy will be continued.

This case belongs to one of my friend from Delhi who was working in a management position in Government and was aspiring for the top post of the company. His application for this post was put on hold by the inimical action of one of the contender for the same post who was all set to get the post by hook or crook through ministerial influence.The native had floated a representation for the administrative injustice happening to him. I received a call from him on Feb 11, 2009 at about 2 PM who was curious to know bluntly whether he would become the MD of the company.The post was to be finalized by July 04, 2009. I casted the time chart to assess the outcome of his query. Coordinates of judgment Lagna in this chart represents the native and 7th the competitor. 3-9th cusps indicate the initiatives/representations floated by the native/competitor. The prospects in a horary chart relating to the profession are primarily governed by the 10H, as this house decides the way the flow of karma takes place for matters relating to profession. The 6th house indicates the inimical action and the litigation raised thereby. It may be noted that the analysis of cusps of various houses along with the planetary significations represent the fixed promises of the chart but the results are dispensed by the suitable dasha-bhukti in consonance with the transits. The Query In the time chart, Moon is lord of 3rd house and placed in 3rd house but almost conjoined with 4th cusp within 16 minutes. 3rd house signification indicates the matter pertained to some sort of initiative/action/representation by the native. Moon is placed in the star of Venus placed in 10th house indicate the matter of the query to be related to professional concern. With the above, I took the chart OK to proceed for further analysis. Analysis of the chart • Look at the promise indicated by the lagna. Saturn is the lagna sub-lord, which falls in the star of lagna lord Venus placed in the 10th house indicating the desire for the native (Lagna) to seek the desired job position (10th house). Saturn is a weak owner of 9-10th houses while the star lord Venus lords 1-6th houses. Thus sub-lord Saturn practically signifies 10-4-1-6 houses and and 4th signification is not for gain. Saturn falls in the sub of Ketu placed in 2nd house, which seems a favorable bid but Ketu is aspected by Mars, Mercury and Jupiter from 8th house. Sub-lord Ketu disposes Moon (sign lord) and Saturn (star lord). Moon signifies 10-3-6th houses whereas Saturn, as described above, signifies 10-4-1-6th houses. In short, the indications of Lagna have some hope of the job position subject to other factors. • Look at the indications of 10th cuspal sub-lord. 10th cuspal sub-lord is retro-Saturn and as per the analysis above, though it does signify 10-1-6th houses, it yet does not show a definitive promise to get the position because of the planetary retrogression. • Look at the 6th cusp In the scenario of some inimical action against native’s interest, 6th cusp may be evaluated for the outcome of the litigation caused thereby. Sun is the cuspal sub-lord of the 6th cusp, which falls in the star of Mars placed in 8th house causing an impediment September 2009

First of all let us look at the Moon and its significations at the time of judgment. The ascendant is Scorpio; Moon is in Dhanishta star whose lord is Mars. Mars is lord of first and sixth house and is placed in seventh house which is Maraka house. Similarly Moon is lord of Badhaka ninth house and is placed in third house. Moon is also a strong significator of Maraka seventh house by occupation of its star lord Mars; hence query is justified as most houses signify the concerned houses for longevity. Also the ascendant sub lord Ketu is placed in 8th house, which is considered for accident, longevity etc. Now looking at the RULES for longevity: 1. For a native’s longevity we consider 1, 3 and 8th house, and twelfth house to these 12, 2 and 7 are Maraka sthana. 2. Consider the houses 8th and 12th for accident; Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu may cause accident. 3. For chara sign ascendants 11th house is Badhaka sthana, for fixed sign 9th house is Badhaka sthana and for common sign 7th house is Badhaka. In this case under consideration, the ascendant is in fixed sign, and so 9th house is Badhaka. 4 If the sub lord of the ascendant be the significator of the Badhaka and Maraka houses, then it is not considered good for longevity of the native. Where is My Husband? Dr H S Nagi 9/43 Punjab Agricultural University, LUDHIANA Mobile – 94177-17910 I got a phone call from my cousin's wife. She told me that my cousin left Kullu for Fortis Hospital in Mohali (Chandigarh), in the morning at 7 am but did not reach there; he was bringing money to deposit in hospital, so every one was worried about his whereabouts. The reason of worry was that his mobile was switched off and he also didn’t inform anyone about his situation. I received the call on August 23rd, 2009 at 20-10 IST in Ludhiana. I asked a number from my cousin's wife, and she spoke 208 (between 1 to 249). I calculated the horary chart at 20-13 IST, on August 23, 2009, at Ludhiana. The ascendant of number 208 confirmed the query, as its sub lord Mercury is in 7 and query is related to her husband. I rotated the chart, and took 7th cusp as ascendant of her husband. (Rotated chart is attached) It is owned by Sun sign, Ketu star and Ketu sub. In the case of missing person one should check longevity first. Ascendant sub lord Ketu is in 12. Ketu is in conjunction with Venus, lord of 3 and 10, which indicates no danger to longevity. Ketu is in Saturn star, and Saturn is in 1, indicating no danger to longevity. Ketu is in sub of Saturn; Saturn is in star of Sun, and Sun in 1 confirmed it. Then I made judgment that he is safe. After that the question is when he will reach hospital or when one will know about his whereabouts? For that I checked the Ruling Planets at the time of judgment and I moved the Ascendant as the event was expected to take place within a day. Here Rahu (for Capricorn sign lord Saturn) and Jupiter qualify for this sign. But since RP Ascendant is in dual sign Pisces, I opted to go for next selection. Next is Cancer, ruled by Moon. We have Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury stars in Moon sign. I looked at local panchang and it would be between 3-5 am to 5-27 am. I left Jupiter star since it is retrograde, and told them that he would be found between 3-30 to 5-30 am on the next morning. Next morning at 6-30 am I asked them about him, and they told me that he made a phone call from Chandigarh bus stop at 5 am on 24-8-2009, and said that his belongings, mobile and money were snatched by someone. But accuracy of KP has been proved again.

In medical astrology of natural zodiac (Kalapursha), 2nd house rules speech, nose/throat and 3rd/11th houses rule right and left ears respectively. These are Taurus & Gemini/ Aquarius ruled by Venus, Mercury & Saturn. Any unfavourable effects on these houses from natural zodiac/ Ascendant would lead to speech/hearing problems. Mercury, Karaka for speech and hearing, 3rd and 11th houses from Lagna are affected by unfavourable significations and connected to evil houses 6-disease, 8-chronic, 12-hospitalisation would lead to dumb and deaf. Mute signs in Kalapursha, watery signs – Cancer, Scorpio & Pisces, would lead to deaf and dumb problems when it is connected to 8th it is congenital otherwise it would impair during DBA of the planets of unfavourable significations. Introduction 1.This part is to present the original 5 Ruling Planets and basic ideas only.The additional Ruling Planets by taking sub lords and aspects etc, different views of KP practitioners and some controversies like retrogression will be discussed in the next part to try to determine which works the best for an astrologer. Original Five Ruling Planets 2. The Ruling Planets are the planets which rule the moment at the time of judgment of any query. The original 5 Ruling Planets given by Guru ji KSK are listed below in their order of preference or strength (Original KP Vol 2, Sagar Publications, 1965 pp 273-4, 412; KP Reader VI p 123, RP & KP pp ix, xvii, 32; Dr. Satya Prakash Chowdhary: Ruling Planets in KP): 1) 2) 3) 4) 5)

Ascendant star lord Ascendant sign lord Moon star lord Moon sign lord Day Lord (Hindu Day from sunrise to next sunrise)

3. Further Rahu and Ketu are to be included in the list, if they are in the signs of these Ruling Planets. Actually being stronger, they would replace the planets, in whose signs they are. Ruling Planets at the Time when the Urge is There 4. It is to work out the Ruling Planets at the time of judgment when the urge is there to find out the result of query at the place where an astrologer is examining the Natal or Horary or Time chart. The Ruling Planets are the divine guide to an astrologer and their help should be sought only when there is an urge to decide the significators who can bring out the event queried. (KP Reader VI pp 88, 129, 130) The real Ruling Planets would work and mysteriously God would help an astrologer only when there is a real urge on both sides of the querist and the astrologer. Retrogression 5.The Ruling Planets in retrograde do not prevent the event to take place but will only give the result when they become direct in motion. Reject the ruling planets which are posited in the star or sub of retrograde planets. (KP Reader VI pp 167, 171, 176, 187, 202, 224, 274) Ways of Using the Ruling Planets 6. As a method of choosing the fruitful significators, the Ruling Planets are to assist in timing of the events. The Ruling Planets at the time of judgment of query would be the same Ruling Planets at the time of fructification of the event in question. The Ruling Planets will agree fully with the DBA periods in operation, and so the significators which are in common with the Ruling Planets are to be selected as the fruitful significators for the event in question. (KP Reader VI pp 274, 138, 141, 200) 7. In the birth time rectification, in case of the querist’s doubt about the accuracy of his or her own birth time, the Ruling Planets of the time of judgment would agree with the Ruling Planets at birth time. 8. Fast predictions can be given just based on the Ruling Planets directly. A timing of an event can be fixed by using only the Ruling Planets calculated at a particular moment of time without resorting to the Natal or Horary chart as follows (KP Reader V p 163, Reader VI p 131, RP & KP p 69-72): 1) If an event is likely to take place within a few hours, move the Ascendant counting from the Ascending degree of the moment of judgment to the sensitive zone where one ruling planet becomes the sign lord, second ruling September 2009

planet becomes the star lord and third ruling planet become the sub lord; 2) If the event is expected to happen within some days, move the Moon to such a sensitive zone; or 3) If it is to take place in some months, move the Sun; or 4) If it is to happen in some years, Jupiter should be moved to find out the time of event. Food for Thought 9. There is no KP without any of the following 3 KP pillars: 1) Hindu constellational Zodiac; 2) Division of the constellation in the unequal Vimsottari dasa proportion; 3) Western Placidian cusps. 10. There is also no KP without application of the following KP basic rule: "Planet is the source, constellation indicates nature of the result and the SUB is the deciding factor whether the matter is favorable or not." 11. Since the Ruling Planets are not related to the above three pillars and the basic rule, KP can be practiced without the Ruling Planets by using other methods of selecting the fruitful significators other than the Ruling Planets method. 12. By using the Ruling Planets, the following significators can be selected as the fruitful significators: 1) 2)

Significtors which are common with the Ruling Planets, and Significators appearing many times amongst the Ruling Planets.

13. Without using the Ruling Planets, the following significators can be selected as the fruitful significators: 1) Significators of planets without having any planet in their stars, which are strongest to give the results of the houses by being the sub lord to them. (KP Reader III p 309, KP & Astrology 1991 July p 1 & November p 8, PS Rao, Vikari Ramamurthi, R. Mukunda Rajan, Kuppu Ganapathi, Kanak Bosmia and others) (Golden Rule: Take the planets which are posited in the sub of the significators whose constellations are not tenanted, explained in Astrosecrets & KP, Part II, 2003, pp 194-199) 2) Significators which are posited in the stars of the cuspal sub lords of required houses for a matter under consideration, for instance 2,7,11 houses for marriage, 3) Significators which are the cuspal sub lords of the required houses. 14. In the case when all 9 planets appear as the Ruling Planets, those significators posited in a sub which is the significator of the main house of the matter under consideration can be selected as the fruitful significators. For example if marriage is being looked into, the main house is 7. 15. Moreover, the different astrologers, tackling the same problem under the different urge, at different places at different times may get different Ruling Planets, and consequently different answers. 16. By the experience of KP Kuppu Ganapathi, AR Raichur and D. Santhil (KP discussion group), Sunil Gondhalekar (Four Step Theory), Baskaran (Secret of RP & the Birth Time, pp 64-65), Narhari Khake (KP & Astrology Year Book, 1998, p 31) and mine (Will the Same Horary Number Give the Same Result? in Astrovision November 2008), it has been found that there is no such common solution for different astrologers. Here please note that it's enough to show ‘2 different cases only’ to say the result cannot be the same but one may have to go on up to the ‘same 100 cases’ to show that the result will be the same.

Shanmugham and the Vol. II (320 pages) & Vol. III (272 pages) are the collection of KP articles edited by K Subramaniam 2. These books are recommendable and useful for study of KP together with the late Sri Bhatt’s books as they cover almost all kinds of topics as shown by the contents below. For example, the KP house grouping can be found under “16. The 12 Houses” in pp 101-209 of the Vol. I, under “33. Guidelines for Professional Astrologers” in pp 222-228 of the Vol. II, and under “6. Principle of Sublords and Relevant Houses” in pp 35-59 of the Vol. III.The rule “The planets without having any planet in their stars are the strongest signifcators of the houses for which they are the cusp sub lords. (KP Reader III p 309)” is explained under “29. The Golden Rule in KP” in pp 194-199 of Vol. II. 3. Question - 1 Your tabulation of grouping of houses seems excellent. I would like to have little more information. For example (taken from Dec 2007) 9th House event: Further studies (Master, Ph.D.) (1) Houses to be signified by cusp Sbl(CP): 4,9,11 Does this means: (a) 9th Cuspal Sub lord should signify 4, 9, 11 (b) Is it enough if 9th CSL signifies atleast one of the cusps 4, 9, 11 or it should signify all 4, 9 and 11? (c) Is it required to test also 4th cusp signifies 4,9,11? (d) Is it required to test also 11th cusp signifies 4,9,11? (2) DBA jointly signifying houses 4,9,11 Does this mean: The DBA lords must be the strong fruitful significators (A, B,C,D,E)? (3) Also to check 11th Sublord’s signification of 4,9,11,6. Does this mean: Is this special only for this rule to verify with 11th CSL? Is this already covered in (1) Above? Why 6th cusp added here in addition to 4,9,11? (4) What about negative houses? In the grouping, rarely mentioned about negative hosues. Do we take 12th to the cusp as negative by default? In the above case, the cusps 3, 8.10 will be the negative houses? If so, How can 10th cusp (Reputation) can be negative to the Ph.D studies? Answer - 1 1. It is enough, if 9 CSL signifies any of house 4, 9, 11, preferably 11 (gain, success, fulfillment of desire), and better and the best if all 4,9,11 are signified. It is required to cross check the signification of house 4,9,11 by 4 CSL (main house for education). It is also required to cross check the signification of house 4,9,11 by 11 CSL 11 (house for gain, success, fulfillment of desire) and it is a must in a Horary analysis. 2. The DBA lords must be the strong or fruitful significators of house 4,9,11, out of overall significators (A, B,C,D,E). 3. It is required to cross check the 11 CSL’s signification of 4,9,11,6. House 11 is for gain, success, fulfillment of desire and house 6 is for success in competition or gain of financial support. 4. It is true that negative houses are rarely mentioned in the KP House Grouping and those detrimental houses are to be considered as required. In this case, houses 3,8 indicate suffer in education or end of education without getting a degree. It is good point that house 10 is good for name, fame, reputation but it could cause difficulties in achieving the goal of getting Ph.D. etc by being 12 to 11. Question - 2 Can you please clarify the following: I.2. Getting Passport,Visa, Green Card 4. If 3rd and 11th cusp sub lords signify 3,9,11,12, one can get passport, visa, green card or permanent resident card to go foreign during the DBA signifying 3,9,11,12. I got this doubt, because you said 4,11; but 11 is already there. Answer - 2 1. The rules in (a) & (b) are correct. 2. House 4 is to stay on at the same place, here abroad and house 11 is for gain and fulfillment of desire. Question- 3 Will you kindly clarify the following point? In traditional Astrology system, while reading the transit result of planets or when the movement of slow moving planets such as Jupiter or Saturn from one Rasi to the other, the Moon Rasi of the natal chart is taken and from that Rasi to the other Rasi, where these two planets are moving is considered from sign to sign, irrespective of the exact longitude of Moon's placement in Moon Rasi in the natal chart. Suppose Saturn is going to move from the present rasi Leo to Virgo in about next month. Then for Tarus Rasi (Moon's placement), it is read as Saturn is going to move from 4th to 5th and the result is offered by the traditional system. Irrespective of Moon, whether it is in 1 degree or 29 degrees of Taurus. But in K.P.sysem, Lagna of the native is given importance and not Moon for the transit result. In Placidus system, the point at which the cuspal degree falls to the next point where the cuspal point falls is taken as lagna cusp. Suppose Lagna is Leo, cuspal point is 15 degrees and the second bhavam is 15 degreees.In the above example case, Saturn may be entering into Virgo in Sun's star uttaram 2nd pada. should we say Saturn in 2nd from Lagna Rasi Leo or Saturn will move to 2nd Bhavam after it enters 15 degrees above. In other words we should treat Lagna Rasi as starting point or the exact degree as starting point ad go on for taking other Bhavas for transit. If we take Lagna Rasi and treat the other Rasi as 1st, 2nd etc., I doubt whether we will get the correct result. The above is example of one case. I would like to the reading of all other planets with particular point. in the other Bhavams. This we may require to consider whether favorable planets are transiting in 7th bhavam for marriage. etc. Otherwise we will see the favourable planets are in either 6th or 8th, if we do not consider the exact longitude of planets. I have not seen clear explanation about this either in K.P.Readers or examples. I request your clarification on this point. Answer - 3 1. In KP, it is always to count from the Lagna… In the research after 1967 it was found that we have to take always Lagna alone…The main reason is that in a twin birth, only the cusps of the house including the ascendant change whereas Moon is in the same position. What we had been following in the Krishnamurti Padhdhati, Vol. 2, 1966, Sagar Publications, is to be given up. (P Reader III, New Edition pp 243-4; Old Edition, Practical Part, p 85) 3. In KP transit, the source is indicated by the transiting planet and what will happen is shown by the lord of the constellation; whether it will materialize or not, whether it is favorable or not is indicated by the sublord according to the houses signified by the sublord. (KP Reader V, pp 161, New Edition 265; Old Edition pp 153, 228). Here the starting and ending points of the houses are according to the Placidian cusps.
