INTRODUCTION In this manuscript, I will share with you a simple technique using which you can achieve many miracles in card magic. This is the first time ever that I am revealing this technique which I call as the “Klear Fate” technique. It is a smart move, but an invisible move. It is easy but very powerful. It is a minor move which can create major miracles. It is self working but the fingers also need to work just a little bit. It is not even a sleight but just a s**t (no, no it’s not what you are thinking) This “Klear Fate” move or technique is so universal that many routines and presentations can be created around it. The limit is truly your own imagination. So I have given the bare bones routine and presentation only and invite you to make this your own by giving it your own spin.

This happens to be my 25th release in about 8 months, since I started with Karma Deck in May’2015, and so I wanted to make this extra special for you all. And that is the reason for the very special pricing. This part comes, not from the mind, but straight from my heart. I convey my humble gratitude and heartfelt gratefulness to you for not only purchasing my releases but for encouraging and supporting me by interacting, suggesting, improving, sometimes disagreeing, recommending and enjoying my work. I am a technologist by day and a mentalist by night. And a strategist all the time. It is an honor being associated with you and I always enjoy your creative interactions. In future too, I will strive my best to live up to your high standards. Some of the stalwarts in our field have inspired and encouraged me and I really cannot thank them enough. Richard Osterlind, Marc Salem, Charles Gauci, Paul Romhany, Luca Volpe, Marc Paul, Dan Harlan, Jheff Poncher and many others - to all of whom I am greatly indebted.

My very special thanks to Chris Wasshuber for his top class support & service, high integrity, transparency and wise guidance. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a very Peaceful and Happy New Year 2016.

THE KOHTALO This is the Finnish word for destiny or fate. The effect is like this. Performer shows a prediction envelope on both sides and keeps it on the table in full view. A normal deck of cards is freely shuffled by a participant and she starts dealing the cards face down on to the table in a heap. She stops anywhere she wants. Totally free choice. The card she stopped at is accurately predicted in the envelope. Please see the following performance sequence along with the photos for a Klear, sorry clear understanding.

Introduce a normal deck of cards and a small envelope with your prediction inside.

Before beginning the routine, show the envelope on both sides casually but clearly.

And leave the envelope on one side of the table but in full view.

Now ask a participant to take out the deck of cards from the case and shuffle them thoroughly. After shuffling to her heart’s content, ask the participant to start dealing the cards, face down on to the table, one by one in a heap.

Ask her to stop dealing whenever she feels like doing so and keep the rest of the deck aside. Now you pick up your prediction envelope, pull out partially the prediction card with its back towards the audience.

And then push it back in, just to reconfirm that your prediction card is indeed sitting right in there.

Then you place the envelope on top of the heap to mark the card at which the participant stopped dealing.

Now you ask the participant herself to keep the envelope aside and turn over the card she stopped at ( which is the top most card on the heap, obviously)

Now you tip out the prediction card, face down, from inside the envelope onto the table.

And you ask the participant to turn over your prediction card. It matches the participant’s card exactly and it is seen that ‘prediction’ is scribbled across the face of your prediction card. The joker in the image is just an example.

THE BIG LITTLE SECRET – THE S**T WHICH I STATED EARLIER IS ACTUALLY A SLIT !!! And this is how this cool secret works. First of all the envelope needs a very small preparation. Just cut out a slit as shown.

Once the slit is in place, then the envelope is ready. That’s all.

Now insert two cards with the same faces and same backs into this envelope. On the card which is NOT on the slit side, write ‘prediction’ across the face of the card. In this image the jokers are shown as an example. They can be any 2 cards with same faces and same backs.

But the audience are under the impression that there is only one card in the envelope which is your prediction. At this point, you do the easy but powerful move. You pull out the card which is towards the slit, as if showing the audience and reconfirming, and push it back in again. From the audience side they see this.

And this.

And in their minds, they assume that this is happening. Of course they are not aware of the slit in the envelope.

But what you actually do is this. In the process of pushing the card down into the envelope, you push it out of the slit and out of the envelope as shown. Nine of diamonds is just an example.

Until the card is totally out of the envelope like this.

And you have achieved this position.

Now you hold the envelope on the flap side along with the ‘came out’ external card like this.

And casually place it on top of the card heap made by the participant earlier like this. (watch your angles, though.)

What you have effectively done is to load your ‘external’ card on top of the heap. So the ‘move’ is finished from your side.

Now for the climax, ask the participant to keep the envelope aside.

Then ask the participant to turn over the top card which is the card she stopped at.

Then you tip out your prediction card from the envelope, face down.

Finally, you ask the participant to turn over your prediction card which will obviously match her card perfectly.

And you take your well deserved applause. (please note the jokers and 9 of diamonds shown alternating in the photos above are just as examples, obviously.)

OPTIONS FOR ENDING CLEAN As soon as you tip out the prediction card from the envelope there are a few ways to end clean, because you cannot hand over the envelope with the slit to the participant. 1. As soon as you tip out the prediction card, you can casually crumple the envelope into a ball and throw it away. But then for this option, you need to have a few envelopes prepared with the slit ready with you for the next performance or the next table. 2. Another option is to casually pocket the envelope after tipping out the prediction card. As soon as you tip out the card, you can shake the envelope a couple of times as if trying to empty it out and then you can proceed to pocket it. So it can be used for next performance. 3. Yet another option for ending clean is, instead of tipping out the prediction card, tear open the envelope along the slit and then pull out the prediction card from inside and table it face down. You can even keep the torn envelope aside on the table. 4. However, the option which I have been using is to keep the envelope aside on the table after tipping out the prediction. This subconsciously telegraphs to the

audience that the envelope is now totally unimportant. So far in my many years of performing this, not even once has anybody looked at the envelope with doubt. Generally the focus is always on the deck and sometimes the deck gets checked out.

PSYCHOLOGY OF LOGICAL DISCONNECT Please note that in this “Klear Fate” move there a logical disconnect built in, which is what heightens the impact and renders the routine impossible to work backwards in the minds of the audience. In the handling described in the above routine, there are 2 cards with the same backs and the same faces inside the envelope. But if you write “prediction” across the face of the card which will stay inside the envelope, then, when both the cards are displayed side by side face up for the climax, it will create a logical disconnect in the minds of the audience. In other words, even though you have used a pair of duplicate cards, the audience will perceive these 2 cards NOT as just duplicates but one as a randomly

chosen card and the other as the predicted card, because of “prediction” written across only one of them. In the alternative handling described below the logical disconnect is achieved in a different way.

ALTNERATIVE HANDLING WITH DIFFERENT BACKED CARDS BUT SAME FACE INSIDE THE ENVELOPE For example suppose that you want your prediction card to be the nine of diamonds. Take out the nine of diamonds from the deck you want to use and keep it inside the envelope with its face towards the slit. Now take another nine of diamonds from a different deck (i.e, a different back design) and keep it inside the envelope behind the same deck card, its face towards the back of the same deck card. Now you are ready to perform. (the word “prediction” is NOT written on any of the cards) During the routine, after the participant has stopped at some card, when it is time for you to show the back of your prediction card from the envelope, you need to pull out

both the cards, flush with each other. Then the audience will see them as one card and they will get to see the back of the other deck card. Now comes the key move. When you push both the cards back into the envelope, you actually push both cards out of the envelope through the slit a couple of inches, pull the other deck card up again and this time push both the cards simultaneously down – the other deck card into the envelope and the same deck card (which is already out of the slit a couple of inches) out of the envelope. All this while, when you are doing the above move with your right hand, your left hand is holding the envelope and the left thumb is holding the same deck card in place (which has already come out a couple of inches out of the slit) The whole idea is that the same deck card must get deposited on top of the card heap. And the different deck card must remain inside the envelope. At the time of climax, performer asks the participants to take the top of the heap card and keep it aside – still face down and he tips out his prediction card from the envelope – this too face down, beside the participant’s face down card. So when the audience sees the backs of both these cards to be different, before they are both finally turned face up, the logical disconnect happens.

CONTENT ADDED IN THIS SECOND VERSION OF KLEAR FATE

The following ideas have been contributed by Mr.Houdini. I am very thankful to him for sharing these with all of us. Here they are in his own words.

A few tips or alternate handlings; 1) PLACE A LARGE clear strip of tape on the envelope BEFORE you make the slit. Otherwise that slit will rip and tear. The tape makes the envelope and slit MORE durable. 2) Have them shuffle the deck and then deal cards into 5 piles, they select a pile, you "mark" that pile by placing your envelope on top of it. This gives justification for dropping the envelope on top of the cards. They remove all the other piles, set aside envelope and look at "their" top card.

3) You could also cut the envelope in half (trim to card size) rubber cement it to a card face (so you have a card with a regular back and an envelope face). Now place your matching prediction card inside the envelope, "their duplicate" selection outside of your envelope and then the gaff card (envelope side facing out) on top of "their" selection. Show envelope both sides, they make a selection, drop envelope on top (drop 2 cards)

You could also perform a false shuffle, while maintaining the bottom 5 cards. Deal the cards into 5 piles, have them pick a pile, drop your prediction on it. Reveal your envelope prediction matches and then show that you had a premonition of all 5 cards or the other 4 cards.

I suggest having a picture of all 5 cards face up, then taking another photo of the pile they selected (or any pile with the envelope on top). Cut the envelope picture out, and now you can move the envelope picture on top of any pile. Revealing you knew in advance which pile they would select and the other 4 piles in the EXACT order.

You could secure it with a flat magnet or sticky stuff (move it to correct pile then press down to secure it to photo). Seems like a lot but this brings it to a whole new prediction experience. ________________________________________________________________________

I COMPLETED A NEW EBOOK WHICH I DO NOT WANT TO PUBLISH AS YET AND WANT TO SHARE IT PERSONALLY. THE TITLE IS 13 STEPS TO MIND MAINTENANCE FOR MAGICIANS & MENTALISTS. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL, I WILL SHARE WITH YOU. WITH MY PERSONAL COMPLIMENTS. – UNKNOWN MENTALIST

NOTE – There is a routine using a wallet doing the rounds on the internet as a free trick. I have no idea who came up with that one but when I first watched it, I saw a couple of similarities with KLEAR FATE (in presentation, not method). The overwhelming strength and superiority of KLEAR FATE is that the envelope can be shown BOTH sides and it NEED NOT have to be taken out of a pocket for the trick to work.

And don’t miss the free Ebooks ! HERE’S WHAT THE EXPERTS ARE SAYING ABOUT SOME OF THESE WORKS "That's a really good routine. I can see how it would play really strong!"Richard Osterlind "Astounding. So clever." - Marc Salem "I liked the idea in the patter and some of the phases are original and clever. Despite the fact that the routine can be performed with any stack (which is a good thing), I enjoyed it." - Vincent Hedan "With this release also, he has shown his creativity. Everything is very well thought out and easy to follow. Wish you all the best for the future, my friend!" - Luca Volpe

"I really like your thinking. So many great ways to apply a mem-deck in ways I've never seen before" - Dan Harlan “POCKET MINDS cards are really clever and a great way to always have something with you ready to go. They are professionally made and worthy of any entertainer making their living with this art.” Richard Osterlind “Another hit ! How do you keep coming up with such great and commercial ideas !! - Marc Salem “I like your ideas. Pocket Minds is very good. It is very nice to have a mentalism act in your pocket. Keep creating this kind of things.” Luca Volpe "Your ideas are exceptional. This is a very practical prop and great fun to use. A great idea which works very well.” Marc Paul "Great to have in the pocket. Straight forward and baffling" -- Graham Jolley "The Karma Deck is an ingeniously simple memorized deck system. It is a powerful tool that every magician and mentalist should have in their armory. It is to a magician, what a hammer is to a carpenter. Highly recommended" - Charles Gauci "This is an amazing system. I like it a lot" - Doc Eason "Wow! You've actually done it! Your Karma Deck System is an elegant synthesis of concepts that have long been at odds... but now you have them working together harmoniously! I had always hoped that some genius would come up with a rule-based system for quickly knowing the position of every card in the deck, and still allow me to perform all the cyclical-stack material I love. You are that genius! I'd be quite happy to endorse and promote it. In fact, I'd like to start using it in my act right away!" - Dan Harlan

"It really took less than FIVE MINUTES!! This is astounding when you think of how many complicated systems are out there. This is, by far the easiest method I've ever read and I for one will be using it!!" - Paul Romhany "I want to say that the concept is brilliant and it is amazing to me that such a pattern would be hidden in the cards - truly mysterious" - Christopher Taylor "This certainly has the potential to be the easiest and most versatile stack ever. It's too early to crown it as such right now, but it is definitely the one that I'd recommend to anyone who needs to learn a stack and hasn't already or who isn't satisfied with the stack they know and wants to learn a different one." – Jheff "I think this is one of the very best methods for memorising the order of a deck of cards without any memory work. For those who know the power of using a stacked deck then this will make life so much easier. It took me less than 5 minutes to understand the system and know where the cards are. This has other uses from stacked deck, memorized deck and algorithmic deck so you have lots of ways and effects you can do using this system. This is a great purchase." - Vanish magazine "You have developed a totally new approach to a Memorised Deck System. The method can certainly be learnt in a short time, and will appeal to many who find the traditional methods difficult to master. Highly recommended." - Graham Jolley "This is a fantastic idea. It's simple, elegant and practical. At last an age old problem has been solved and we now have a real world alternative to actually memorising 52 cards. Excellent!" - Marc Paul
